Poll: How do we feel about Stefon Diggs the player?
Don Otreply replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
Diggs with Buffalo was exactly what we saw, a real good receiver, but has been becoming more injury prone, which diminished his impact over the later part of this past season and the post season the last couple of years. It is what it is, imo he had a conflict of interest with the HC and OC and maybe even some of his teammates, and employed similar tactics as he did in Minnesota, and made himself an unattractive team member to get himself traded to a different team. And so the cycle of Diggs behavior starts again with a third team, just a matter of time before he is waived/cut etc in Houston. No matter though, he will be replaced like all players are sooner or later. Cycle of life…, -
Why the holy roller speech from you on Diggs in the first place, the burden which there isn’t one all would be on you, as I said Diggs was useful, except for the last couple post seasons and the last half of this past season, his ship has sailed…,
-
Shakir and Kincaid fill that spot
-
That’s your conjecture, they didn’t toss him out because he was a easy to get sling with, sure he was a helpful addition, but he like Beasley made himself replaceable.
-
Diggs is an azs hole, a good receiver, but an azs hole none the less, that coincidentally disappears in the playoffs, is what it is, you could of course follow him to Houston…,

I voted yes, but only if it doesn’t gut our draft this year or next year,

The ghost of Belichek will still have an unnatural influence, -
True enough, Imo as a regime not enough has been done to get Allen the types of weapons and O-line protection needed over the duration of their tenure in Buffalo, not that they haven’t brought in players, but just not the right ones. As to the defense…, the choices concerning the line have been, shall we say not productive in the way we all have hoped for.

Those players defensive players requested by McDermott are the Jimmy and joes, Beane doesn’t do his job in a vacuum, I will give you the point that not enough elite players are brought in in FA, nor drafted for the offense, there are many aspects interwoven into why the team has plateaued under McDermott and Beane,

Could Dawson Knox be more of a gadget guy?
Don Otreply replied to akcash's topic in The Stadium Wall
That would not surprise me, but he is a good blocking TE who can catch a pass most times, and believe it or not is a valuable member of the team, -
Are we really going to miss any of the departed players?
Don Otreply replied to GASabresIUFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
There is a chance that every so often Diggs may be missed, but that’s going to be completely dependent on who we bring on board, jmo. -
Then that would be on the guy that asked Beane for those defensive players, provided McDermott has some say in who he wants, which we can rightly assume he does…, again McDermott running back the same soft zone / contain defense annually, with no wrinkles in it for the post season has been the elephant in the room, not saying there are other personnel/ structural issues, but it is the predominant one.
-
The OP is confused, in that he appears to believe that the organization is unaware of the personnel decisions that didn’t work out and the ramifications there in, when the reverse is the case, the op is looking for something that is never gonna happen, and he should know this.
-
True enough, but to a great degree our defense has been the reason for this plateau as it were, imo the soft zone / contain defense that worked acceptably for the most part in the regular has been the teams bane come the postseason, and that is on our HC for running back the same post season defensive scheme annually, for lack of a better description. I like McDermott for the most part, but he has a stubborn streak a mile long…, and imo that’s where the trouble lies.
-
Okay, we are gonna trade Beane for a pick next year…,
-
Be that as it may, Beanes moves are still SOP, team dump under performing players, it’s barely news, happens with monotonous regularity in the NFL, me, not worried in the slightest, We will still win the AFCE, and go to the post season, jmo, feel free to disagree, but that’s my feelings on this,
-
No it’s not, every team dumps guys in the same fashion ever so often, it’s pretty much SOP, Beane took several swings had some success, ( four consecutive AFCE titles, 2nd in total games won since 2020 iirc etc etc) and now is re-tooling the team, it ain’t nuthin but a thing, no worries…,

Its the NFL, hype is their life blood, without the hype the nfl is just another pro sport that is only exciting some of the time, just like the rest of them.
