I rewatched/rewind on DVR live. It was close, but the ball starts to move as #58 punches at it AND before Gabes knee hits the ground. The still shot above doesn't do it justice. Frame by frame you will see the ball move, before knee touches down.

The Official Fire Ken Dorsey Thread
MasterStrategist replied to VaMilBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is probably the best description of the situation. I know we don't want to put any "blame" on Josh, but he's more comfortable in the gun/wants to play recess ball more often than not. Problem this year (not really a problem, but hampering offense), is the coaches have hammered into Josh head to NOT run. And ZERO designed Qb runs. It's a good long term plan, but it's taking adjustments and removing some big plays from the weekly arsenal. Back to being under center/rhythm. Part of the issue comes back to our #2 WR (Gabe). Anyone else noticing him coming off the field much more this year in these situations? He's just not a "timing" WR, he doesn't get into his routes/breaks fast enough. So we essentially have Diggs, then a bunch of nobodies...which to me is partially why Dorsey is probably reluctant as well. At this point, our best option is to make a trade for a another WR. If not, it will be the same issues all season. Other knock on Dorsey is getting more creative...set up a screen for crying out loud, find ways to get Harty the ball in space/reverses, Cook in more passing routes. Sometimes Josh isn't "seeing" the field well enough. But I've lost hope with Dorsey getting creative, it hasn't happened in almost 2 years. Not to be insensitive, but Dorsey has to have some ADHD. I know alot of smart ppl that talk just like him/mannerisms. His playcalling is so sporadic/all over the place. We all talk about "sugar rush" Josh. Maybe we need to get Dorsey more calmed down. -

While I agree, Josh bears some blame... That miss on 3rd down to Knox was on Josh, also Knox, but that was a terrible pass. At the end of day/big picture, Dorsey is just OK. We lack playmakers at WR. Diggs then what? Gabe isn't twitchy enough, then we have a bunch of "try hards" and a rookie who hasn't been utilized enough/right ways in Kincaid. Need to spend more on offensive weaponry -

Dorsey, get your act together. I feel like Giants running an over front/0 T nose over Morse is screwing up our protection. Jets DL look. We need more jetsweep/outside zone, screens. Everything we haven't done this year much. Need to get more out of the running attack, and use our Rbs more in passing attack -

Giants LBs not even respecting the run. Playaction and their dropping right away. Need to keep running -

Can we please put a blocker 15-20yards back, to give Harty a chance to return? Wasting a weapon there....and our outside guys aren't holding up -

Need to get our running game going and shut down the Gmen run game. Simple as that and we win -

At some point, Ingram will get signed to the 53 and either Klein/Spector cut. Makes zero sense carrying 6 LBs, when the 6th guy is a fringe rosterable type AND we need #s at CB -

Thanks for sharing all the inside info! I asked a couple Ortho friends and while neither is a podiatrist, both seemed shocked Groot would play through any broken/fractured bone in his foot. W/o knowing the details, basically said it could certainly worsen playing though it/create a long term injury. Hopefully turns out it's not a fracture -

I'd be surprised if either plays this week. Long season. With Benford back, start him and Elam. Promote Ingram, although not ideal to use up his 2nd call up. I have confidence in Morris/Gilliam filling in for Rambo short term. -
1. Depends on his asking price 2. We only dress 5 DEs on gameday. 3. Shaq is well liked/locker room leader. Is it worth disrupting to get a better DE5? That's why I said Frank upgrades Shaq/Kingsley in "certain aspects". Better player, no doubt, but there's tradeoffs to signing him. I don't see it happening anyhow. DE/pass rush is least of our concern right now.

Groot, Floyd, Von, AJE, Shaq, Kingsley Frank might be an upgrade on the last 2 guys, in certain aspects. If we were to make a move, it would be at DT (1 tech). See how Poona and Settle, play over the next few games. I think we will be OK.

Snap count, per Coach post-game. Early injury to Kingsley, who returned/left a couple times, along with Jax sustaining long drives..Likely "used" Vons snaps earlier than desired. Be interesting if Groot is still "limited" today. If so, I could see them hold him out this game. Since Vons snaps already limited. Might not dress 2 "recovering/not full go" guys at same position. Shaq will be back at least. -

Milano and Daquan to IR. Klein signed.
MasterStrategist replied to Gambit's topic in The Stadium Wall
Who is the rookie from Villanova? You mean Dorian (Tulane?). Honestly, this isn't like its the first time Milano has missed games. And we've been hit with injuries to the secondary/DL before too. Coach will find ways to adjust within his system, we aren't changing to a 3-3-5 for the sake of changing. Groot is likely back this week, as well as Shaq. We got hit with injuries early last game, then gassed (bc of this + our offense not sustaining any drives). Defense will be OK...offense, time for it to put up "consistent" results. -

MasterStrategist replied to Gambit's topic in The Stadium Wall
Why are we talking about switching our core defensive alignment/philosophy all of a sudden? Because Milano/Jones went down, just means next man up. They've spent countless hours/months installing the defense, they aren't going to switch it now. Better chance we make a trade, if they think we need someone else to execute -
Silver linings with the Injuries?
MasterStrategist replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall
Exactly. Next year will likely see 3 new starters in the secondary and some "new depth" guys. Both safeties, cut Tre/sign a zone Cb2 to likely pair with Benford. Dane, Poyer, Micah, 1 and done for Rapp. Hamlin, Lewis, Neal will also be on the bubble. Bonus will be Elam actually developing this year, and growing into a starter role I see this as our "DL" remake a few years back. Likely a round 1 WR, then heavy defense/secondary focus. I'm ok having 2 "solid/not great" corners, with fast / very good safeties. I think we try to get younger/faster at that spot in particular -
Milano/Jones BOTH require surgery; Per McDermott
MasterStrategist replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
Definitely think there's HOPE for Daquan. Milano, I think there might be some unknowns. If BangedupBills is correct with diagnosis, it's a more unique "broken leg" and time frame is a bit more volatile...given fewer of these type of injuries to reference. Not trying to predict, main silverlining is "appears" Milano avoided a torn ACL (or other serious ligament tear). That's huge for keeping hope alive for a very late postseason run, but especially for longevity/returning to top form next year. Injuries happen and guys miss time, I just hate to see injuries that impact multiple seasons/ability to get back to prior playing level. So I'm grateful, if these can get back to their level of play in the next year -

Sorry misread your post as being more focused on overcoming the injuries. Agree, it will be a challenge to win the division. I'd say it is not too different than LY or prior (NE). Injuries aside, those were both situations we had to "catch up"/take care of our business against them toward end of year. I think it's still way too early/alot can happen, and we've seen alot happen in years past. 1 game differential can be made up literally in a week. Even being 2 back isn't the end of world. If we had Miami next week, I'd be more concerned given where we're at injury wise. I think we need to see what this team does in these circumstances, and get back on track. -

If you wanna take a closer look, then please include: 1. 4th qtr defense: at this point we're gassed, Von being out (snap counts), and injuries. 175 yards given up. We had still just given up only 11 points 2. Medicare Jags offense: as you said. T Lawrence had been playing better. Ridley, Kirk, Etienne, Engram, and Zay is not Medicare offense. Not to mention their starting LT back from 4 game suspension 3. This style of defense is how we will need to keep playing. Without those key players, we need to rely on turnovers and we got critical ones to keep points off the board Jags TOP also influenced by our offense playing putrid for a good chunk of the game. If we even got average to above average play, we win and we're just stuck discussing injuries. At this point, we need to accept our defense will be giving up long drives to good offenses. Getting timely sacks, turnovers, forcing FGs is our game. Our offense has to be the catalyst and driving force. Coach can dial up blitz/pressures and we can get good rush with our front 4 to play winning football. Just can't expect our offense to go into a shell of itself for >half of the game -
^This And Dorsey still hasn't schemed many easy YAC opportunities. I blame the personell a little (ie this isn't Gabes strong suit). But I'm perplexed how guys like Kincaid, Harty, Sherfield (even Shakir) can't be used more in ways that give them YAC chances. Honestly, my patience has been wearing thin with the offense. 1 game Josh looked lost/1 game our playcalling rhythm was horrible/2 above average performances/1 outstanding game. Not to mention above issues with using our playmakers, add Cook to that list and Knox. It's not much different than frustration with Dabs, but he at least got all our playmakers involved.

Obviously big injuries for our defense, but few things to counter: 1. Our offense LOST us both games thus far. Even depleted on defense yesterday, they found a way to keep it close. Our season goes as our offense does, that's been the case the past 3 years running. 2. Our defense still has talent, especially at DL. Need to get leads and wreak havoc. We have comparable defenses to KC, Cincy, Miami. Not gonna carry us to victory, but can force turnovers/cause issues for opponent passing games 3. Depth: next man up philosophy, perhaps we will be surprised (ie. AJE stepping up, Bernard) with a few weeks of consistent playing time. That's obviously best case and no replacing our starters, but these "backups" are either former starters or early/mid picks. I'll finish by just saying that SB contending teams have found ways to rally, when losing key players to injury. We won't be the first or last to deal with a series of unfortunate events. We need our offense to be on the same, or close to same, level as the Miami game regardless against top tier teams. This defense likely is the same/potentially better, especially at DL, as the 2021 team that lost with 13 seconds. -
As we all hate on Ken Dorsey today let’s remember
MasterStrategist replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
No debating the stats look good. But the inconsistent performances, Jets and Jags, cost us 2 wins. Even with a depleted defense, no excuse to get "shut down" in the 1st half. I'm a Dorsey supporter, but he has to devise better plans than what we saw yesterday. Not saying execution was great, but this offense went back to lacking identity/rhythm and that to me is more on coaching.
