11/21/21 Colts@Bills Second Half Thread

Oliver, Epenesa, Rousseau, Basham, and FA additions of Addison, and Butler.... It's inexcusable that this is the result when one player goes down on that unit, who wasn't here all of last year to begin with, yet relied upon so heavily with clearly no depth behind him. He's built his entire reputation on Josh. McDermott was here before he got here... Put Josh last couple seasons on those Whaley teams and they are no doubt competing for the division year in year out, just EJ didn't pan out. Yet Beane trades away Wyatt Teller, then Drafts Cody Ford passing on DK and AJ Brown in the process. -

Hot Take- Doug Whaley was a better GM who's project QB didn't pan out. Waste a 9th pick on Oliver to get run into the ground, and all the other draft capital that's gone into the DL?! FOH. -
Jamison Crowder is a UFA next year, at 28 yrs old and a proven veteran, extremely effective slot WR, I could see him being a logical target/replacement. Unfortunately Beas is at the tail end of his shelf life. Or perhaps a one year deal depending on how he finishes the year, then make a play for Renfrow who will be a UFA the following season. That being said, Beane probably gives him 3 year extension or something, I mean he did bring in Frank Gore when RBs basically grow on trees.

Henry out for the year, Julio never healthy and their only legit threat on offense is Brown, who also seems to be on the injury report every week himself. This Titans team is on a good little run, but they are far from a juggernaut. Lots of football left to be played still, they are dropping a couple along the way, especially with how weird the NFL has been this year as far as good teams laying eggs every week.

NFL Officiating is an abomination for a 18B product
Delete_Delete_Delete replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall
NFL franchises are valued at record highs. Advertising revenues are a non stop gravy train for these NFL owners. God forbid they pay a dime for anything like quality full time officiating, or the venues in which their teams play and they generate all of said revenue... -
I've thought about this as well, especially after the Titans loss. This team doesn't feel as hungry as last year, and that's crazy to me bc as far as I'm concerned, sure last year was fun but they haven't accomplished anything to really hang their cap on yet. Unfortunately I don't feel this game is at all like the "Hail Murray" situation last year, there is nothing positive to be taken from this loss... it didn't take Jacksonville's best shot to beat this Bills team, it didn't even require the Jags crossing the goal line for Pete's sake. I don't know how a team goes from the #1 scoring offense in the NFL to getting embarrassed by Urban Meyer and the injury plagued Jaguars. Even if it's a case of believing their own hype, which I definitely think Is part of the problem, at half time you'd assume that's all out the window. You'd assume that the idea of getting held TD-less against the f'n Jags would snap the sleeping giant into form during that intermission... How is the #1 scoring offense, with leading candidate for MVP, not able to make the necessary adjustments to get in the end zone in the second half even ONCE, against the untouchables of the NFL???? The lowly and decrepit Jacksonville Jaguars just embarrassed a quarter billion dollar QB, and his team most assumed would have a legitimate shot at representing the AFC in the Super Bowl. However I don't think they come back from this. They'll win enough games to get into the playoffs, but nothing special is happening this season.

Our main problem may be unfixable this year
Delete_Delete_Delete replied to oldmanfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is largely the same OL that gave Josh plenty of time last year to have a breakout season, and get paid a record setting contract. The only thing that's changed is Williams got paid and now he seems to have checked out. At this point we just kinda have to hope something clicks for this offense as a whole. Seems absolutely crazy to say about what was the #1 scoring offense going into today's debacle, but the whole thing is misfiring on all cylinders right now, not just the O Line. -

I honestly thought this team was beyond this type of garbage we saw on the field today. Josh Allen getting sacked, intercepted, and having a fumbled recovered… by a player with the same exact name! That might be the single “Billsiest” thing to ever happen in the long and Billustrious history of “Billsiness”, and that’s saying a lot. -
Daboll's offense has been figured out, painfully one dimensional. Offensive line is an abhorrent mess, and Beane will hopefully do a better job retooling the second time around. Josh forcing things like a rookie out there... If they lose a game to the Jags you might as well kiss any Super Bowl anything goodbye.

If we trade for a RB, who would you want?

James Robinson if the injury is minor, Urban didn’t seem high on him going in to the season and they drafted Etienne in the 1st round. -
What are your thoughts on Ed Oliver?

I'm glad we missed on Oliver instead of Josh. -

I saw them get held to FGs, acting like they are guaranteed a TD is just ridiculous. D wasn't having their best night, but not every drive was ending in 6. -

Maybe with 3 timeouts that's is possibly the right call... but the playbook would've been limited, and a TD was far from guaranteed in that situation, especially given the Offenses shortcomings earlier in the game in similar down and distance. People are acting as if it was goal to go. He was only picking up another chance or two at a score before potentially still having to settle for a FG, not worth the risk when you factor all that. Also, there is still a 50% chance Buffalo wins the flip, who's to say Titans ever get the chance to see the field??? I like Josh and the offense's odds against a depleted Titans defense to go right back out there and score if they had won the flip and got the ball right back... Even if they don't, if I'm McDermott, I still have to have faith in my defense to atleast hold Tennessee to a FG should they win the flip. -

Kick the FG, go to OT... This team ain't the Lions or Jags just scrapping for a W, take the 3, trust you still have the best team on the field, the best QB on the field, the best Defense, go prove it in OT. -

Game shouldn't have been close. Consistently FELL SHORT in the red zone, getting stifled by an embarrassingly bad Titans defense that was just looking for bodies to put on the field. Stupid penalties cost TWO touchdowns. Capitalize on EASY touchdown opportunities, don't commit undisciplined penalties, especially when they directly take 14 points off the board. They do both of these things, and Buffalo maintains a large lead, forcing the Titans to be more one dimensional pass heavy offense. Just a massive failure on so many levels against what should have been a truly inferior opponent. -

just an embarrassing loss, on the national stage... That was very "Billsy". We were supposed be beyond all that by now... Josh literally fell short when it mattered most. -

Once again playing the opposing team, and the refs… makes for wuality television to have refs interject this often on nonsense that has no business being called aside from the Neal hold. -
If they delayed the start of the Raiders/Chargers game that was indoors for lightening strikes, this could be a late night at Arrowhead.

Bills/Chiefs Score Predictions Thread
Delete_Delete_Delete replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
34-23 Daaaaaaaaa Bills! They will game plan to take away Kelce and Hill with help from an improved pass rush, CHE will be held in check by a run D lead by Star, who wasn't out there for the last two meetings. KC will still score some points, but this Defense will be able to keep Mahomes uncomfortable back there, stall drives and force some fgs. On the flip side, To say the KC defense hasn't look great would be a vast understatement, and the Bills offense is better as a whole than it was last season. Sanders has been a huge upgrade over Smoke, he and Josh's chemistry development has been on display week after week, and even at age 34 Sanders' route running, sure hands, and ability to get open downfield have been impressive, it's almost like having another Diggs out there(I said almost). Then you factor in the emergence of Dawson Knox as a legitimate threat at the TE position to an already top 5 WR corps, plus a more than capable backfield... there are simply too many ways for the offense to get the job done, the only thing that could get in the way of a W is the Bills themselves. They can't beat themselves with stupid penalties, Daboll can't get too cute with the gameplan, just let the playmakers make plays, and don't inexplicably abandon the run, Moss will be a key factor in running over that soft KC front on the way to this W. -
I like the idea of healthy combination of Klein, Dodson, and/or Smith rather than a gimpy Milano who is risking more serious injury, still early in the season. I trust McDermott and Frazier will be able to alternate between those 3 situationally to fill in for Milano sufficiently. Plus Edmunds will have to step up in coverage vs Kelce and earn that extension.
