Looks like we're shorthanded tomorrow - Covid-19

Maybe the ankle injury kept him out of certain situations? -
Best cure would be striping the ball early when Murray takes off.

Week 10: Bills at Cardinals

Inconsistent drive to drive, but they come up with enough splash plays to support their offense. At least from the three games I saw. -
The End of the Lamar Jackson Era
Buffalo Junction replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Figuring it out and having the talent to do something about it are different matters. The opposing teams offense still has to beat the Ravens defense. The talent advantage they have will dissipate if they pay Jackson like it did in SF in 2014. If you look at the offensive stats from the SF team they sort of suddenly started seriously underperforming in the second half of 14’. IIRC they went from averaging 20+ ppg to 13ppg. Not saying it will happen again, but when it happens a few times to a coordinator it’s worth paying attention to as we go forward. -
Stiff competition when you consider some of the backups who took over the starting role. Particularly the first round “busts” that found success after becoming a backup (Young, Dilfer, Plunkett). Of course there’s also Hostetler, Doug Williams, and most successful of all..... Kurt Warner who took over for Trent Green without ever playing with the first string offense and then won the MVP.

The End of the Lamar Jackson Era
Buffalo Junction replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly what a bunch of us have been saying.... Wait and see if the league catches up with this incarnation of Roman’s offense. It’s happened at every stop in the NFL. The D coordinators and players are too mentally advanced to not figure it out, and once his system gets normalized with that personnel grouping the offense starts to slip. By the end as SF the fans were complaining about other teams knowing the plays. I’m not sure how much of that is on Jackson. One could argue that Roman’s scheme limits the development of QBs, but the sample size is too limited. However, Jackson really hasn’t improved much passing outside the numbers. I am certainly curious to see how he’d do in a Shanahan based offense that utilizes bootlegs and RPOs along with creative route combinations. -
That’s a difficult debate due to the defenses they played in 46 & 43 vs 34. That said, either could play in the others scheme. They were just too talented. Of course it’s not fair to add in Whites USFL sacks (23?) either, or the fact that he played a USFL season and NFL season in the same year and still posted 13 sacks in 13 games.

Not too surprising when you consider the sheer number of hall of fame pass rushers that played at the same time. Then there were the not quite as good pass rushers like Clyde Simmons and Neil Smith who played opposite Reggie White and Derrick Thomas (respectively) and made it impossible to focus on just one rusher. Mid 80’s through mid 90’s was such an awesome time for defensive football. IMO a pinnacle before the league toned down hitting and slanted the rules towards offense. Plus, they really didn’t do the best job keeping track of PEDs either so there were a fair amount of guys with just a couple high end seasons.

Holy crap Daboll interview

One thing that might work towards Daboll staying here until a great HC gig comes calling is that the Pegulas aren’t cheap with salaries. -
Holy crap Daboll interview

I think he’ll stick around unless the right offer comes along. I can’t see him bailing on what’s become a cushy OC gig in his city with a QB who’s making him look good for a mismanaged franchise with poor ownership. -

Week 10: Bills at Cardinals

Not to mention that week 1 division games are usually closer than they should be and a total crapshoot. -
I think McD and Frazier figured out how to utilize Klein in a way that kept him from being exposed. It seemed to me that they did their best to have him playing downhill or in the flat for the most part so his lack of athleticism couldn’t be exploited like it has in previous weeks. Honestly, they probably caught the Seahawks by surprise there. Hats off to the coaching staff because they caught Carroll and company with their pants down.

Particularly if Morse is out long term. Dawkins, Spain, Mongo, Ford, Williams would be solid. Can’t complain too much about how Böttger and Bates have played though. -

Yeah. That was concerning. I got up and grabbed two beers when that happened. Finally getting some off time might help with that. There are a lot of lingering little injuries on this team, and compensating for that is likely to cause more injuries. I’m hoping the bye will cure some of those. I’m cautiously optimistic. -

I think we may be seeing Dabs offense starting to reach maturity as Allen and others gain experience. Last two weeks have been kind of vintage Patriots O in that they just went full bore exploiting the opposing defenses biggest weakness. Hopefully the O-line gets healthy before/during the bye and everyone is healthy down the stretch. -

I’m hoping they all beat the ever living snot out of each other down the stretch while we get healthier. -

Any possibility that Whitewater Jesus can make a miracle happen and get his cousins to shore up the DL?
