  1. Any possibility that Whitewater Jesus can make a miracle happen and get his cousins to shore up the DL?
  2. Folks are under the impression that 300 yards and 3 TD is possible every week..... What they fail to realize is that it’s only possible every week if the QB is willing to play like Winston and Fitzpatrick.
  3. Williams is probably the proper choice for exceptional quiet performer. He seems to be back - or close - to his pre-injury form. An absolute steal for the ~$2.5 million we’re paying him. The big question is whether or not he can be resigned at a decent price. 🤞🏼. If he can’t then we’ll likely be in line for a 3rd or 4th round pick.
  4. No need to worry about that this weekend. Phins already lost to Seatle. If they lose to the Cardinals on Sunday then we don’t have a deficit with common opponents. Plus, best they can do is tie the head to head and divisional W/L. It’s likely that Miami loses another AFCE game starting Tua as McD, Williams, and BB are all good at confusing rookie QBs.
  5. Only matters that they’re relevant, mainly because I’d like to be able to catch Bills coverage in rural VA and NC. My place in VA has no cable and only 3g for cell service. 🤷‍♂️
  6. I’m all for it. I’m all for W’s. The added bonus of a low scoring affair will be the media asking “is the bills defense back?”
  7. Entirely possible. Seahawks offense has been great, but as the season’s played out a lot of those wins look less impressive; Falcons, Dallas, Vikings, Patriots, Phins with Fitztragic. Bills and Hawks are a lot more evenly matched then many Bills fans are willing to admit. As good as Metcalf, Lockett, and Wilson have been they’ve basically allowed equivalent performances from opposing offenses. I’m looking forward to this game.... it reeks of a high scoring affair where one or two defensive splash plays wins it. Granted, that means it’ll probably end up being a defensive snoozfest with our luck.
  8. The way to deal with that is finding ways to muddle what the D is taking away presnap.
  9. How do injuries factor into your season long view of the Bills and Phins? IIRC, the Fins only had a backup corner out in that Rams game. In contrast this Bills team has been nailed with injuries since game one.
  10. I’m hoping there’s some hidden curse for trying to end the Fitzpatrick Cycle prematurely.
  11. Giants DBs as well just start taking out knees.
  12. Was that back when he was smoking crack?
  13. The wind may have factored into that decision as well. Belichick makes a few of those oddball calls a season though. Without Brady they don’t seem to work out as often.
  14. It’s because Mongo is better and more experienced with line calls. Not to mention Allen is used to taking snaps from him.
  15. I’m not worried about the kid yet. We’ll see how he looks after a solid year in an nfl conditioning program. If I had to guess they’ll look to eventually have him play DE on 1st and 2nd, then slide him inside on obvious passing downs.
  16. Is it? Let’s look at QBs groomed or “rehabilitated” and traded by Holmgren. Mark Brunell: traded to Jaguars for a 3rd and 5th Rick Mirer: traded to Jets for a 4th Mark Hasselbeck: traded to Seahawks for a 1st & 3rd Aaron Brooks: traded to Saints for a 3rd Brock Huard: traded to Colts for a 5th Trent Dilfer: traded to Browns for a 4th Seneca Wallace: traded to Browns for 7th Then there’s a bunch of guys like Detmer, Kitna and Doug Peterson who would have brought back high compensation picks now instead of the 90’s along with the no name QBs flopped for conditionals and 7th rounders. So is it a myth? No. Holmgren pulled it off. However, all the stars aligned for his success. To start with his coaching staff was tremendously successful, and when they left for OC and HC (Reid, Rhodes, Gruden, Mornhinweg, Mariucci, Jauron, etc) jobs they wanted QBs that could run their offense of choice. The front office staff was stacked with talent as well, Wolf, Thompson, McKenzie, Dorsey, Schneider, etc and they likely hit on talent more often than others. The west coast offense itself allows for less physically talented QBs to thrive as well. That success with developing QBs will probably never be duplicated. It’s a fantasy in the NFL now with modern FA, conditional picks, restricted off season contact between coaches and players, increased front office instability, no developmental league, early HC promotions for OCs, etc. The league itself will have to change for lighting to have a chance at striking again.
  17. The key is properly identifying and developing QB talent league wide. I’m not sure that any coaches other than Holmgren truly figured it out (Favre’s backups). It’s also likely impossible to duplicate that success with the current CBA. They need to make an exception to the coaching contact rules for developing QBs if they want to increase the league wide talent at QB, and a developmental league like NFL Europe needs to be formed. Developing QBs now is very difficult, but they often come into the NFL with higher floors thanks to the youth camps, etc. Any team that can figure out how to develop and flip QBs -or other premium positions - has a serious competitive advantage over the long haul as they can exploit that development for draft capital.
  18. We laugh, but she’s probably better at breaking down film than 99% of the members of this board.
  19. That attitude is something this team needs to get the ground game going. Particularly around Morse who is more of a finesse player. Mongo also helps from an assignment standpoint..... he has experience setting protections with a QB and knows how last years players will likely perform in different blocking schemes.
  20. Consistency is formed from the ball out. With poor line play on both sides of the ball coupled a young QB we shouldn’t expect to see consistent dominant performances from this team. Fold in all the injuries this team is dealing with and you have a perfect recipe for ups and downs. There’s certainly room for improvement. The D Line finally showed up in the second half (albeit against the Jests). Let’s hope that MD and Frazier adjusted the scheme and play calls. The Oline may very well improve with Mongo back in the lineup and Ford getting healthy while continuing to iron out his mirroring. At the very least with Winters replaced there won’t be liability at RG. Allen is going to be inconsistent as more experienced and innovative D coordinators are going to come up with coverage and pressure packages he hasn’t seen before. Heck, the Bucs caught Rodgers a week ago. Allen will continue to improve with experience. IMO the bur is going to be big for this team. It’ll give the coaching staff an opportunity to revise their schemes. We should get some players back healthy. Hopefully Allen will make another mini leap after the bye like he has every other time he’s had time off to examine his play and improve. The schedule after the bye looks tough, but this team does have the talent and coaching to get everything back on track..... Especially if Allen has a performance jump.
  21. He’s certainly a bad fit for GBs scheme. The issue with prying him away is that Kevin King is injured & out, Alexander is playing injured, and Savage (safety) is injured as well. I doubt GB let’s Jackson go for a draft pick. Probably have to be a player for player trade that fixes a hole somewhere for GB...... a Nsekhe comes to mind since Baktiari is injured. As for how Jackson would fit here.... He is at his best playing off ball in a zone defense. He’s a bit stiff, and too slow to excel in man. He does have good burst and it shows. He’s also effective if he can get the ball in his hands and is competent returning punts. Honestly, he’s physically very similar to another former Hawkeye - Micah Hyde - in size and combine performance.
  22. I do kind of wonder if the inconsistent holds habe affected Bass’ rhythm? I haven’t paid too much attention to that, but I can imagine that taking an extra fraction of a second to make sure the hold is good could influence his accuracy and headspace. Just a thought. 🤷‍♂️ In any case..... Improvement is needed.
  23. What’s the over/under on mock drafts getting posted this week?
