Sean McDermott - master of the saying nothing
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Dan Darragh's topic in The Stadium Wall
His coach speak is fine. He provided reasonable answers to reasonable sideline questions. Good job by him and the reporter. Beane just out and out lies and the fan base eats it up as gospel. -
No the controversy was if a Steeler WR was the one who touched the ball then another Steeler can't legally catch it. That was the rule then. So the only way the catch is legal is if the ball hit the Raiders DB first. From all the replays I have seen there is no way to tell who touched the ball first. The ball clearly goes backwards at quite a speed and distance which would make it seem like it was the Raiders defender who hit the ball as the Steelers WR was coming across the field not towards the ball as the Raiders' defender was. The other controversy is the refs huddled after the play and I'm pretty sure called NFL headquarters. There was no replay of course. The story goes that they asked about their security because if they ruled the catch was illegal they were afraid of the fans reactions and their safety. Supposedly that is what a Raiders player overheard them saying.

Wrong Josh now on Vikings Practice Squad
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall
If Jets had taken Allen, I would have wanted Rosen over Darnold. Rosen was my #2. I wanted Allen at all costs. I posted Darnold was going to be a bust pre-draft but I though Rosen was going to be another Aaron Rodgers type. A bit odd personality but had good arm and similar body type. If Beane misses out on Allen he's out of a job by now -
In reading this I didn't realize the Steelers lost the following week to the Dolphins. I had always thought that was one of their SuperBowl years. Franco's reputation was he was solid but not spectacular. He was not as big and strong as Jim Brown, not as fast as OJ or Tony Dorsett, and did not have anything to compare to Walter Payton. Some folks claimed he was soft and avoided contact. I only started watching football in 1980 so I only saw him when he was in decline. I beleive when he retired he was #2 all time rush leader behind Brown.

Good post. Can't believe this is still being debated -
Josh Allen: Are His Fumbles an Issue?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall
He's been reckless with the ball all year. Probably 8 dropped INTs this year. This team would be lucky to have 4 wins without him. When he plays under control he is the MVP and best player in the league. Just wish Dorsey could dial up some easy early down completions more frequently. -
He's nothing short of the franchise savior. Without him McD and Beane would be out of jobs. If Jets take Allen, Bills take Rosen or Darnold and neither Beane nor McD last long enough to find another QB.

Josh Allen: Are His Fumbles an Issue?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall
He fumbled running last week. What bad snap against Minnesota? Allen fumble was a perfect snap. Allen just blew it. Not buying this Morse is out nonsense. Allen is a ProQB and these are professional linemen. There is no excuse for a bad snap and exchange, ever. Practice it every day with Morse and the backups. Pretty simple. -
Wouldn't It Be Cool If Knox Keeps Emerging?

Those two were fine players but nowhere near the athlete Knox is. -

Spencer Brown Dolphins Game
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
I dont think RG has much to do with ut. When he has been beaten badly it is with an outside speed rush -
I thought a chronic whipping boy deserved his own thread. I just re-watched the entire game and I thought Brown played one of his best all around games. I count 3 negative plays. He looked quite good run blocking. I saw 3 times he was beaten in the pass rush. I'm not counting the Allen strip sack. It was his man that got the sack but Brown rode him 10 yards past the LOS and far out of the play. You can say he should have been with him longer but I think that sack is more on Allen. I saw three times where he was beaten fairly cleanly with outside speed rushes but none of them resulted in negative plays. In fact one was on the Knox TD catch. Early on he seemed to give a bit too much ground on bull rushes but ultimately held his ground after giving up a couple steps. Two highlights I will mention. First was the Allen fumble recovery. But perhaps his finest moment was 1:1 blocking on the Cook TD catch. He stayed with his guy and as Allen rolled past him to the right he didn't hold his opponent. He just kept his feet moving and stayed in front of him. So often as the QB rolls and the defender starts to chase, the O-line will grab and hold. Really solid play that as we all know took a full 8 seconds. Look forward to what the board thinks.

I'd take Watkins over John Brown or OBJ in a heart beat, but not Beasley. Beasley fills a greater need.

Ike Boettger Status ?????
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Riverboat Ritchie's topic in The Stadium Wall
It really isn't. Boettger is not very good and the fact he is even on the roster is another indictment of how bad the O-line is. -
Love the dolphins forum - Bills won because of the refs?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Matt_In_NH's topic in The Stadium Wall
Are we sure that was a screen play and not just every linemen getting beat? The linemen never seemed to disengage with the pass rusher even after getting beat. -

This board has no standing to criticize another board about officiating complaints. For years there were numerous posters saying the entire NFL was rigged for Brady and the Pats. -
Ok so what did that have to do with sliding in snow?

Devin Singletary not scoring a TD with 34 seconds left
Ethan in Cleveland replied to chongli's topic in The Stadium Wall
I would argue far grater than 2%. Maybe only 5 or 10% chance but still way higher than Bass missing. Miami already had a TD on broken coverage once. Plus a FG miss at worst leaves OT. If Miami had scored a TD they could play for win with 2pt conversion. Absolutely right decision to play for and kick game winning FG. -

Sanchez is stupid. He has no business calling games. -

Wow I'm stunned the number of posters that didn't agree with McD decision making. It was the perfect coaching decision and I dont even like McDermott. Getting the first down was meaningless with the time left on the clock. If he tries to fall down at the 1 he risks getting pushed into the endzone. It was literally perfect execution end of game strategy. -

Is There So Little Love for Tremaine Edmunds?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall
He was terrible tonight. He should and will get paid though. They need to use the draft picks on the OL and WR.
