You keep bringing up the playoffs and revenge, both of those things have nothing to do with the concept I’m discussing.
in a regular season game, where both teams are evenly matched, and one needs the win more (based on future opponents for both teams), I believe that team gains an advantage.
like I said in another post, it’s purely anecdotal and probably false. It’s just something I feel happens.
Playoff games are different animals and not what I’m talking about.
All things being equal, the bills can afford to lose this game and the ravens can’t. That may have an impact on the game.
it’s probably too nuanced of a thing to successfully talk about on a message board. 🤣
Sure, but the bills can afford to lose this game, the ravens can’t. I think that will have some impact on players psyche, even if it’s subconscious. In coin flip games I think it matters.
Completely anecdotal, but I think the ravens needing this game more than the bills (based on strength of schedule) might tip the scales in their favor (if I was gambling).
I think the odds of both of them getting a Lombardi is probably the same as neither of them getting one. Probably 33% either, 33% neither, 33% both. maybe 50% either, 25% neither/both.
The problem with his contract is he’s underperforming it. We have a few guys like that, epenessa, Knox, Milano, jones, Samuel, to name a few. We need more guys outperforming their contract than guys underperforming if we’re going to win this thing.
Well, it’s an odd spot to be in and I don’t pretend to have a solution. It feels like the bill will eventually come due for all these bookkeeping games.
maybe they’re already too far down the rabbit hole on this, they probably should have been playing rookies/guys on first contracts more frequently than signing middle of the road free agents.
Preseason is all about selling hope to fans (fanatics). We have a good team, but only one superstar. All we need is 4-5 other players to outplay their contract, and to remain relatively healthy, to have a real shot.
keon is, at best, a solid contributor. But that’s all he needs to be
