True. You seem to be confused that I am defending that drop. -

No way Knox on a route other than the outlet pass...... -

And Davis out in the flat on the left with no one near him has to sky to bring it down - Allen is floating too many. You know it, and everyone watching knows it. And yes, Davis aligator-armed that one pass because he saw defenders closing in. -

Timing and too high on too many of these throws. Even the wide open options have had to climb the ladder to bring these in... making those receptions harder than they need to be. He needs to fix his mechanics and get back to what was working for him last year. -

Finally a Morris sighting and the extra TE. -

Allen said he worked this offseason on leading his receivers better and letting them make plays. I can't help, but feel like his timing and floating so many passes has something to do with him taking so much off his passes. It's like he is still searching for that sweet spot between throwing it on a rope or dropping it in an area that his receiver can make a play on it. I think he has to stop overthinking it and just focus on the sound mechanics and success will follow. Some QBs throw the ball pretty hard and their organizations just made it a priority to find receivers who could handle the heater. He was getting better at leading his receivers on the short stuff last year and I am sure he just needs to get back to his comfort zone and what he was doing well. It's a theory. -

Runs work... or they keep your QB clean. Either way, nice to see Cook cooking.... -

Since the NFL cut down on that leap frog move blocked FGs have gone down across the league... Been a while since I seen one, and only if the kicker knuckles it low and it was probably not going to get there any way. -

Another thing that has me baffled is why Knox's role seems to have been relegated to a 3 yard outlet option on the boundary and no route concepts that get behind the defense. Not sure Dorsey knows how to use him... another Dorsey head-scratcher. -

This offense may have to just decide that an ugly win works too. Just like in hockey when finesse is not working, keep grinding, get dirty in front of the net and in the corners, and keep shooting at the net till something goes in. It starts with grinding out some 1st downs and getting down close where you have a shot to punch it in. Defense gets a blow too. -

I know, but with shakey Josh I would rather see a few of our TE's in there as blocking and receiving options.... Diggs is a playmaker - thank goodness we have someone who is not rattled. -

This team needs to find an Offensive Coordinator. This offense looks totally out of sync and unprepared every week. Dorsey needs more time as an assistant to a coordinator who can actually game plan and prepare a unit.... at least that is what it looks like right now. I don't see this offense finding their way under him. They have been trending in the wrong direction too long. -

I can see he has committed himself to running the ball more.... not. -
Wawrow hints an Internal Issues with the Bills

Because that is usually done in the middle of the field to move the chains and not out of your end zone. Worse that happens in those situations is that you don't make it and turn it over on downs OR you put the ball on the ground and it is usually dead there and a turn over on loss of possession. Either way it is not in your end zone. This is true too. It can be both a bad play call and a bad Josh moment. Those are not mutually exclusive. -

I don't like how we got so predictable running on most first downs out of our 11 personnel (I believe Knox was out there usually). It begged for an OC that knows how to setup a defense and then counter punch. MN kept coming on run blitzes and were ripe for a quick play action pass, or something different behind that to keep them off balance. It was predictable and helped put us in too many 3rd and long situations. -

I think what he is saying is that with 4 point lead the ONLY thing our offense had to do was not turn it over for a TD. A safety would have only netted them 2 points and then we could then punt from our 20 with very little time on the clock for MN to get in FG range. Sending Allen into the teeth of their defense on a very unsneaky sneak play, where MN completely sold out to stop the run was a baffling, terrible call. It would not have netted much nor have gotten them out of the shadow of the goal posts. Especially bad when you consider how poorly our OL usually is at moving folks out on short yardage, and how shakey Allen's play had been. -

I think that is where the committee approach comes in. What is an effective game plan for the 2nd half? What adjustments need to be made? How do we better utilize our RBs and quick throws underneath to keep drives alive and limit the risky off schedule plays? Are you saying our offense does not need fixing? -

I don't think blowing things up usually works as a high percentage plan. Look at the doomed Titans who have managed to reset and stay competitive after looking like hot garbage early. I do think there are serious questions as to whether Dorsey is in over his head. Frazier is a known commodity and is dealing with a ton of injuries. Dorsey on the other hand does not have that luxury of having a proven track record as an OC. The question for Sean and Beane is what do you do from here to course-correct? I think they likely go with more of an OC by committee approach to see if they can right the ship. Off season who knows. -
Truth. And you have to stay committed to the run. If our offensive brain trust keeps our RBs riding the pine what does it matter? We all saw what happened as MN kept running Cook even with carries where he was stuffed behind the line or no gain.... ...he made Benford miss and with no safety help over top (have no idea what happened there) he broke one for a TD.
-
Agree. Not a knee-jerk thing, but the OL could use an investment of talent in the middle. Beane has gone after tackles in the draft, but seems to prefer free agency or UFAs to fill out the middle. He may have to tweak that formula if they want better affordable talent for pass-pro matchups against elite DTs or if they seriously want to run between the tackles.
-
I think that starts with Morse not being super effective gaining leverage and position moving DTs. He's just is not that mauling kind of center. He is above average in pass pro, and elite as a pulling center blocking outside, but struggles moving interior guys on power/gap runs. Bates has had struggles this year too opening holes. Aaron has his work cut out and also needs to teach them how to block and seal off the backside pursuit on running plays. Seems our OL forgot how to do that... again. Too many runs are being snuffed out by defenders tracking down the RB behind the LOS.
