  1. Thankfully, guys like Brees, Russell Wilson, and even Doug Flutie to an extent helped pave the way for smaller QBs. I couldn’t imagine Kyler Murray going #1 overall pre-2000. Most likely he would’ve ended up playing baseball.
  2. And the bolded part is why I think NFL teams need to re-evaluate the way they do things. It’s absolutely insane to me that a guy who is as young & physically gifted as Trey Lance is fighting for a spot in the NFL while trash journeyman like Josh Johnson seem to always get picked up. Johnson is 1-8 all time, sub 60% completion, 13/16 TD/INT ratio, and is 38 years old! And you would think with stats like that he would be able to run, but he can’t do that either! 😆 You’re telling me teams value THAT over a dual threat who’s only 24, a .500 record as a starter, and more TDs than picks? It really makes no sense to me how teams will again & again trot out a proven loser instead of taking a chance on the unknown.
  3. If Trent Dilfer, Nick Foles, and Brad Johnson can win a SB then I think Baker is capable. I feel like people also need to put a bit more respeck on Baker’s arm. He can make all the NFL throws and has excellent placement.
  4. Brees was always a solid starter, but really started putting it together his last couple years in SD. The fact he landed a 60 mill contract (in the early 2000s) coming off a major injury to his throwing arm proves that the NFL valued his talent. I do agree with you though. Saints Drew Brees was a different animal. And it’s not like he walked onto a team chock full of talent. Brees was that offense.
  5. Daboll was hired during his 2nd year I believe. Besides the Josh Allen pick itself, this might’ve been the most important move made by the McBeane regime. Quite literally the textbook definition of how to develop a raw, physically gifted QB prospect and Daboll did a masterful job. I like that he took on more of a “‘mentor” role instead of trying to be all buddy/buddy. Listening to past interviews, Allen mentions time & time again how important Daboll was to his success.
  6. Who is your number 1 “what if” QB ? Although he had a very solid career, my choice would be Randall Cunningham. He could’ve been the GOAT if he went somewhere where they knew how to develop properly and design an offense around his skill set. I feel like he was a victim of the times, but a forward thinking coach might’ve been able to see the potential. If he played today with the rules they have now? Forget about it. Dudes like Cunningham and Fran Tarkenton would’ve ate in this era.
  7. i thought Cleveland getting rid of Baker was stupid the minute they announced it. He gutted it out during an injury, had a little bit of a regression, and Cleveland thanked him by sending him to the black hole of the NFL 😂 Yes, hindsight is 20/20, but most semi-informed fans knew that was a massive gaff at the time. It was a total slap in the face to the fans and to the guy who lifted Cleveland out of their pit of misery. I can 100% relate to the joy Browns fans must’ve felt when they dropped 48 points on the Steelers and knocked them out of the post-season. It’s like watch the scrawny nerd kick the **** out of the school bully after years of trauma. Baker was never a world beater and probably won’t ever be, but having an elite QB is more of a luxury. He’s more than capable of winning a championship if you surround him with talent & good coaching. I used to think a QB (or any position really) w/ generational talent could overcome a bad organization, but I’m doubting it more & more these days. People knock Eli Manning not wanting to play for the Chargers, but he was absolutely correct in his choice. Look how quickly Ryan Leaf flamed out for them. I’ve always wondered what an alternate timeline would look like where Peyton went to San Diego and Leaf went to Indy. Not even just that. Imagine having a roster w/ Phillip Rivers, LT, Antonio Gates, a prime roided up Shawn Merriman, Vincent Jackson, Shaun Phillips, Cromartie, etc and not even MAKING it to the SB let alone winning one. Those mid to late 2000’s Chargers teams were absolutely stacked and continuously got eliminated early.
  8. All great examples. I remember when Jim Kelly broke Harbaugh’s jaw and it ended up costing him half a million in game checks
  9. The Bills definitely should’ve offered some type of roll like this. McDermott still could’ve kept his defense. Having a great mind on the team who’s familiar w/ the AFCE (and AFC as a whole) could only benefit them. The Jets definitely screwed up majorly. Saleh will have success wherever he goes I made a thread the day Saleh got canned about Bills grabbing him for some role and got absolutely flamed for it😂
  10. This is a good chance for Dorsey to prove himself. Their line is banged up, but they still have a decent roster. Jameis Winston is a gun slinger. He’ll throw picks, but he’s going to have yards & TDs w/ it. Chubb is their best player on offense so make him the focal-point.
  11. I was going to post this in the game thread, but it thought it was an interesting topic to have its own. I know the Vikings lost, but I can’t get over how much Sam Darnold has improved. Having the best WR in the game obviously helps, but he’s looked quick & decisive all season. I can now see why he was a such a high pick. I’m always fascinated by previous busts who turn it around especially much later into their career ala Rich Gannon. Was it going to a better system? More years of experience? A drastic change of approach? I remember when Bills’ great 36 y.o Todd Collins went super saiyan out of nowhere on a 3 game win streak for the Redskins where he threw for 900 yards.. Geno Smith, Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield are all 3 pretty good examples of that and hilariously they are all better than their original team’s current starting QB. There have been countless examples over the years. Makes you wonder if teams should spend more time on development. The Jets and Browns would both be AFC contenders w/ those players.
  12. One of biggest reasons why I am a Justin Herbert hater.
  13. Why? Having a cakewalk division sure worked out well for Tom Brady. It’s like pretty much having a guaranteed playoff spot locked up every year. I love it
  14. Who said it was a mini rebuild ?
  15. We should lure Jairus Byrd out of retirement just so he can pick off Geno Smith 3 times
  16. Jerry Jones is an ass, but the Cowboys have been relatively competitive my entire life. I’d much rather be the Cowboys than the Raiders.
  17. Absolutely and you know nothing about football if you say otherwise. I’ve never seen a RB with a such a combination of power and speed. It’s almost like it defies the laws of physics. And he’s still only 30. Imagine Josh Allen and Derrick Henry sharing the same back field. 2 active HOFers. Good luck stopping that back field on 3rd and short 👍
  18. He’s worth 18 million a year, but some team is gonna over pay
  19. The NFL would be extremely dumb if they ever let the Bills leave Buffalo. That would be like the Packers leaving Green Bay. One of the cool things about the NFL is the parity especially when it comes to smaller market teams. It’s pretty awesome knowing that the Bills (not the Giants or Jets) have been the best team in New York for a while now. When people say the league is rigged, I point out the fact that Jets have the active longest playoff drought. The Bills and their fans have a charm to them. I feel like a good % of fans from other non-AFCE teams tend to root for us. The Bills are more of “America’s team” than the Cowboys are, that’s for sure. Going to Toronto would’ve been a massive black eye for the NFL and I think even Goodell knows that. Not just Bills fans would be affected. I’m not a Steelers fan, but I would damn sure be pissed if they moved to Canada and became the Toronto Drakes.
  20. Definitely the “Anti-Diggs” and I think this will be a huge relief for Josh not having a WR1 who think he’s bigger than the franchise quarterback.
  21. Hopkins is the more “flashy” choice, but Cooper will turn out to be the better trade in the end. Hopkins barely cracked 1000 yards once in the past 4 seasons and has been extremely injury prone. Not to mention 2 years older which makes a big difference in the NFL. Meanwhile, Coop has had 1100+ in 4 out of his last 5. He’s also been relatively healthy most of his career never missing more than 2 games. As far as playing style, Hopkins has elite hands and great ability high-pointing the ball. Route running is impeccable. He has one of the biggest catch radiuses in the league and is among the best at 50/50 balls. On paper, Mahomes and Hopkins are a match made in heaven, but rarely does the NFL work this way. I think he will have a good season just for the fact that KC’s WR room is the worst in the league so he will get his targets by default. Cooper is the more crisp route runner IMO and is a better YAC WR. He’s also faster by a pretty good margin. I looked up their 40 times and Hopkins clocked a miserable 4.57, while Coop ran a 4.42. That was 10 years ago and I can only imagine both have gotten slower. It would’ve been nice having Hopkins there to teach Keon Coleman who I think I think share a lot of similarities. That doesn’t mean he can’t learn a thing or 2 from Cooper though. All in all, I think Buffalo got the better deal of the 2. Cooper just seems like the better fit athletically, schematically, and personality-wise. The Chiefs are a little better at handling bigger personalities. Both teams are a receivers dream. If you can’t succeed w/ Allen or Mahomes then your career is pretty much washed.
  22. I’m sorry, but watching it at home is so much better.
  23. Eh…they double dipped at DE that year and hit on one of them. Not terrible
  24. Buffalo should trade for Amari Cooper
  25. I put absolutely zero stock into the MVP award or even Pro Bowl for that matter. Give me All-Pro all day everyday.
