Went solo to a Bills vs. Raiders preseason game at Cal stadium back in the early 70s. Solo to a road game! The place was pretty full because everyone came out to see OJ. I discovered that, oddly, that during the plays I have a tendency to lean in the direction that the Bills are heading as if to encourage them. Not so oddly, I guess, because the people around me were all doing it too but they were leaning the Raiders' way which made for some awkward body contact.

I don't remember a guy going as long in the concussion protocol as Derek Anderson has. It doesn't matter from a football perspective for the Bills but I really feel for the guy. He was happy playing Mr. Mom and came out of retirement for us. Is he another Kevin Kolb? Bills have been under the Cone of Silence on this one as far as I can tell except to say that he's "still in concussion protocol."

I've had that experience watching Bills games many times and I'm not color blind.

It's always the highlight of the year when they break out the Xmas unis. Last year it was very clever to wear them in the snow game, helped our QBs find the right man to throw to.

All season long they had given the ball to Roosevelt Leaks in situations like that. He almost never touched the ball except on 3rd and short or 4th and short, and he averaged 3.7 yards per carry. He was money. I never understood why they gave the ball to Cribbs on that play.

That was the toughest Bills loss ever in all my years as a Bills fan, tougher even than wide right. Fergy was a real hero that day and played hurt, really hurt. It was the first good season that the Bills had since 1966 and came after going 0-20 against the Fish during the 1970s, the Bills beat Miami in week 1 and opened the season 5-0. Had all of us thinking that maybe, finally, this was our year. Then a gimpy Ferguson led the Bills to a lead against SD after 3 quarters but it came apart in the 4th. It still hurts. A few years ago, my nephew went to Russia. He wanted to bring me a gift so he brought me Buffalo Bills babushka dolls . (Babushka dolls are nesting dolls that are sold in an amazing variety of themes in nearly every souvenir store in Russia). I saw the little ones playing with them the other day and had a good look - and a stroll down memory lane. All of these guys are long-since gone from the Bills and, except for Lynch, long-since out of football. Looking at these, I'm reminded of Seinfeld's comment that we're only cheering for the clothing.

This is my first-ever three page post. Just basking in the glow...

This is a brilliant move by the Bills. With the critical interconference game against the Bears coming up, Chicago's coaching staff has been looking at film of left-footed punters in preparation for the game, and suddenly we switch up on them. They may need to go with a left-handed return man (to get the lefty-righty advantage). The question is whether our long snapper can make the adjustment on a short week.

What about Jordan Gay? Always good to have an extra kicker who is a healthy scratch every game
