  1. I share many of the concerns about Clowney's low PR production, but I would be ALL in a short term/HIGH DOLLAR contract. The sack numbers are concerning, but he appears to do everything well and has not always been tasked with rushing the passer. He's an elite ATHLETE. The defense desperately needs an elite athlete on the edge. Someone you know can track a ball carrier/QB(maybe it happens down the field in his case). I'm with you on the combination aspect. Clowney would be a perfect compliment to Hughes and Addison(both long in the tooth and neither elite athletically). I could see that combination generating a ton of pressure and wreaking havoc on backfields. If we're talking about a short term deal, sign me up.
  2. Adequate healthcare in the prison system for starters. In many prisons, you basically have to be in the process of dying before you'll be seen by a healthcare professional. Prisoners are sentenced to incarceration for a period of time to repay their debt to society; unless they are sentenced to death, adequate healthcare should be a given. AFAIK, they don't have the option to purchase private insurance. Dawkins is concerned about his brother's health. THE HORROR!
  3. Same. Wallace had one bad stretch and was otherwise solid. McDermott seems to be able to find CB's at Wegman's. If the pass rush improves, the secondary will look a whole lot better.
  4. Uhhh. Why? I'd like to think we all wish him well, but I envision this thread going off the rails. Again. Why?
  5. That's good, because the schedule is far more difficult in terms of QB's we'll face and the pass rush needs to get a whole lot better. Still concerned about edge, but we'll see what happens. You'd have to assume EO will only get better.
  6. Eh. Don't really agree with this take. The offense was actually pretty "aggressive." They just weren't effective. And I suppose they could have dialed up more blitzes, but there's not much McD could do about the lackluster collection of pass rushers.
  7. Yeah. I'm still concerned about the pass rush. I've always been a guy who believes that getting in the QB's mug early and often is the single most important aspect of a defense. That 2014 D comes to mind when I think of "ideal." Beane has a collection of solid players on the DL, so I'm hoping the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. I think some of us got lulled into a false sense of security in 2019 based on the fact that we had an extremely easy schedule as it pertains to opposing QB's. Haven't dug into the DE prospects this season because my focus has been elsewhere, but I'll take a look at this Greenwald fella. If there's a stud RB in the 2nd who's clearly the BPA, OK. So be it. I like Devin, but the offense is going to need a guy (or two) with a different skill set because he's not a "complete" back. Just so much more "value" at edge if we're talking about a 2nd RD pick, but you play the board according to how it shakes out I suppose. I will be disappointed if they don't add an edge in the first 4 rounds. Gotta take a shot there because it remains a need.
  8. Yeah. That is not good because we're facing a better QB lineup this season and that pass rush may become a real problem. And I'll be that guy; as much as I hate the resource allocation, I'm not convinced that Devin is quite the player some believe him to be. That's the only reason I wouldn't HATE drafting a RB early.
  9. They drafted Devin in the 3rd round last season. That means he's supposed to be an impactful player. Investing another 2nd or 3rd at RB is just not good value. I would say it would only be a major concern if you have questions about Singletary. Edge is a far more premium position and they absolutely must address it considering the age/quality of the position. Beane has done a great job overall, but he's had some issues at RB. Looking around the league, teams are finding productive UDFA/late round RB's all over the place.
  10. No disrespect to Beane because he's doing a good job, but he should be able to find a complement to Singletary(3RD RD PICK) without investing another 2nd or 3rd RD pick a year later. That's a shame WRT to the draft being short on edge rushers. Haven't done much research for obvious reasons, but the edge position looks worse than last season with Hughes and Addison, a slight downgrade from Lawson, both long in the tooth. Murphy? Meh. Very good roster overall, but they're not going to create a ton of pressure as the roster is currently constructed. Most glaring issue I see going into next season. Gotta get more TO's.
  11. We just drafted a RB in the 3rd round last season. There are actually pretty high expectations of a RB if you draft him in the 3rd round. I wonder how much of this has to do with some lingering doubts about Devin. I like him. Really do. But he's got some limitations in terms of breakaway speed; obviously not a bruiser. He has a place in this league, but the fact that we're talking about drafting another RB in the 2ND ROUND is a little bit over the top IMO. RB's are generally not that difficult to find and if you look around the league at productive backs, a great number of them were not acquired via big draft capital.
  12. That's actually a lot of capital to invest in the position two years running.
  13. While RB is a glaring need, I'd prefer to go this route as opposed to NEEDING to draft a RB. The Bills must get better at the position, but the value is generally not great in the first 3 rounds. If there's a stud there in the 2nd, OK. If he's far and away the BPA, great. I wouldn't want to go into the draft with our current RB situation. We also need the offensive line to create some holes in these situations.
  14. Wouldn't be surprised if they were eyeing him as potential RIGHT GUARD, not tackle. He's a strong run blocker, so I like this signing quite a bit. I really think they're sticking with Ford at RT. The OL needs an INTERIOR mauler and I wouldn't be surprised if this is the reason for the signing. No guarantees, but no risk. Like I said, wouldn't SHOCK me to see Ford and Williams reversed in that order.
  15. The Pats remain a SLIGHT favorite. -110, which is still a pretty big favorite when you consider they're competing against 3 teams. Of course the Jets don't look great at the moment and the Dolphins are the Dolphins. While -110, meaning bet 110 to win 100 is by far the lowest the Pats have been in YEARS, they're still favorites in Vegas. Bills are not surprisingly the second favorite at around +175(bet 100 to win 175) Either way, they still have the Pats favored and I get it. Does not mean the Bills won't win the division! Just means as long as BB is around, Vegas will not discount the Pats. Better than my convoluted answer. Slightly different odds than I've seen, but pretty close. And I would hate to see this happen, but the Jets at plus 750 is pretty good "value" whatever that means. If somehow Darnold stops seeing ghosts, you never know. Week to week and year to year league.
  16. I'd have liked to see them add an athletic "edge," but very solid offseason overall. I still have concerns about our pass rush against elite QB's. No doubt. Since it appears we're going to go with a run of the mill RUN BLOCKING OL, gotta improve the RB position.
  17. It would have a cool dynamic to it, but I "love" the Bills more than I "hate" any other team/player. I'd probably be waiting to wake up from the dream if the Bills win a Superbowl. Not THAT interested in the opponent.
  18. I will NEVER underestimate a Bill Belichick coached team. Ever.
  19. Your first post in the thread was literally "prove what?" My response would be that he needs to prove he's a top 10-15 passer. He's not bottom 5. That much is true. But some of us would like to see proof that he's going to take that next step. What's the problem with the OP's take?
  20. It was hyperbole. We can go through every number in the world, but the bottom line is that A) Josh needs to improve and B)the supporting cast is vastly improved. JA was much better in year 2 than year 1. Allen should be much(I'm sure you'll quibble with that word, which is fine) in year 3. I really can't even fathom why this would be "controversial" or elicit some of the responses I've seen.
  21. There appears to be a few my friend. If it weren't for drops, he'd have been Marino, etc. What's interesting here is that the OP is one of the optimistic, reasonable posters on the board. He's getting ripped for asking a legit questions. Josh was basically built in a lab to play the position, but he's got to get better at the read/recognize/RELEASE aspect of his game. Improved a good deal in short accuracy. Now he's gotta continue to improve on the aforementioned as well as deep ball accuracy. The offense looks pretty solid. We saw stark improvement from year one to year two. The OP appears to want to see the same level of improvement in year 3. I suppose that's too much to ask for some.
  22. Nice. I'm really not too keen on the idea of continuing to throw big assets at WR. It's now a position of strength. Would be ideal to find a young guy, but not a necessity at the moment. Add another back, an edge, maybe something at OL; draft BPA. The team is setup to compete with anyone. At this point, we're going to sink or swim with Josh Allen.
  23. Thought about it quite a bit because I think there's a real 40/60 shot at this scenario.(sorry if that offend's anyone's sensitivities). My opinion is the above. If they were to pull the plug at the appropriate time, YES. This combo has gotten the Bills to the playoffs twice in 3 seasons after 17 years of nothing. IF, IF Allen doesn't progress, I would absolutely give them one more shot at it.
  24. Is it LEGAL to simultaneously believe that the virus is pretty serious and not some conspiracy, but also not worth the sacrifice we're making to the economy and our way of life? I just don't see how COVID is serious enough to warrant THIS astronomical cost. If it was the bubonic plague, sure. I get it. This? I just don't see the evidence. Freedom isn't free. On the flip side, gotta inject my liberal views and say that the little 2500 dollar minimum addendum to this stimulus package is absurd. As a matter of fact, the entire notion of means testing during an economic emergency is absurd. How in the name of God can you possibly use 2018 as a gauge for the situation someone is in now? What if someone was unemployed in 2018, got a job, and recently lost it due to this? They get ZERO. What if someone WAS working in 2018, retired, and is now collecting SS? If you're collecting SS, the virus has zero impact on your economic situation. Also, 99k per year in CA or NY is not wealthy. Why would someone making 150k be excluded? They have bills too. I get it; Dems have pushed for means testing. But that makes zero sense in a crisis. If you're gonna send checks, just send them to everyone and sort it out later. Not a fan of McConnel's proposal.
