McShay now has Oliver to the Jets too
Cornette's Commentary replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't see Tampa passing on Allen OR Quinnen Williams. Now that they're moving to a 3-4 defense under Bowles, either player would be a perfect fit for that scheme. -

So, we draft Hockenson at 9 and then have him be an extra offensive lineman, to help stop Oliver? -

You didn't answer my question. If Beane brought the offer of the 9th pick for the 21st pick and Frank Clark to Schneider, and Schneider agreed, but Clark said "I don't want to go to Buffalo, regardless of what they'd offer me," what do you do then? -

Ok. What if Clark won't agree to coming to Buffalo? -

Or Lawson, for that matter. -

Let's play "what if" Let's say the Bills trade picks 9 and 40 to Seattle for Clark and Seattle takes Montez Sweat at 9. What if Sweat goes on to record 11 or 13 sacks and is a front runner or DROY, while Clark struggles mightily here and has fewer than 5 sacks by Thanksgiving and he was given a deal in excess of what Demarcus Lawrence got? Would you still support the move, or would you be calling for Beane to be fired? -

1.) Why in God's name would Seattle, or ANY team for that matter, want Shaq Lawson? 2.) Why would Tampa be stupid enough to let McCoy go for such pathetic compensation? -

A project OT in the 2nd from a minor-league program? I would fire you on the spot, if you were my GM. "He had some struggles in Mobile against the better competition, but showed developmental potential." - Walter Football Cyrus Kouandjio 2.0 -
SNY Jets determined to trade down
Cornette's Commentary replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, he can be replaced. But, he needs to be replaced with a GOOD PLAYER. Not some cast-off that didn't record one sack last year and is being expected to take Kyle's spot full-time. -

Um, Kyle Williams retired and I have ZERO confidence in Jordan Phillips being able to replace him. If Hughes continues to face double teams, and neither Lawson nor Yarbrough can take advantage of that, our pass rush is nonexistant. -

You don't know that. Injuries and bad defense could result in a 5-11/4-12 season, which means handing the Jets a top 5 pick in 2020 that could yield them Trey Smith, Jerry Jeudy, Derrick Brown or AJ Epenesa. Are you saying that you could accept any of those outcomes? -

I hope Beane doesn't try to move up to the 3rd spot. That would mean having to give a division rival a 2020 1st and possibly a 2019 2nd. -
"Unfortunately for Simmons, he suffered a devastating blow during combine preparation, tearing an ACL. That injury could cost him some of, if not all of, his rookie season in the NFL." "Teams have red flagged Tillery's draft report with serious character concerns. Every source with a handful of teams who went through Notre Dame heard about significant character issues with Tillery. It was so renowned that even during TV broadcasts, there were mentions of Tillery being a bad teammate and that he was trying to change that. Team sources say not only are they concerned about Tillery in the locker room, they also are worried about him failing tests and getting suspensions in the NFL. Tillery is a known partier, so it hurt him to miss out on the Senior Bowl interviews to address those concerns and work on convincing teams that he has grown out of those past behaviors." - Walter Football

Daniel Jeremiah mock #3 (Hockenson to Bills)
Cornette's Commentary replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You think they'd make him a guard, with the intention of having him eventually replace Mitch Morse at center? -

If Oliver, Sweat, Gary and Taylor are gone, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if they go with Jonah. If they don't, then perhaps Daboll knows something about him that we don't (i.e. that he's more of a guard/RT prospect than an elite LT)?
