  1. Actually, no. JW is wise to be circumspect about further comment, regardless of whether or not it might reveal Overdorf as the puppetmaster.
  2. I get that this board is not big on nuance, but hear me out. There's a difference between Overdorf "handling trade talks", and Overdorf actually MAKING THE DECISION to grant Evans a trade. It could well be that Nix made the football decision to trade Evans, then delegated the particulars (where to send him to, and for what compensation) to Overdorf. Not sure everyone needs to jump off the bridge in complete despair just yet. How does the Bills' hot pursuit of Clabo fit your theory?
  3. Very impressed with this observation. Clearly you're an insider since from TV land you couldn't possibly know a) what Wood called on each play b) that his call was executed properly by the line but it put them in the wrong positions and c) that making calls is hindering his ability to play.
  4. When was the last time you saw McKelvin deflect a pass? Reggie Corner seems to do it regularly. Have you listed to McKelvin speak? Not much brainpower there.
  5. You're correct. Here's the list of inactives from the team website: WR Roscoe Parrish CB Justin Rogers LB Kelvin Sheppard LB Shawne Merriman OL Chris Hairston WR Craig Davis TE Shawn Nelson LB Chris White
  6. Would like to see Chris Hairston at RT.
  7. So what is "franchise altering" about any of this? I did see that Brandon came out today stating that he plans a follow-on contract with Fisher for camp, that will extend "many years". That deal isn't in any way a driver of where the Bills will be in 10 years, but it's still much more relevant to the status of the franchise than anything that may or may not have happened with Merriman at the Border. Moran may be close to correct factually, but calling the Merriman border-stop "franchise altering" is inexcusable (actually pathetic and desperate) hucksterism.
  8. No. I am not claiming to know much about him. You seemed to imply you knew about him, that's why I was asking what Brees liked about him. Maybe someone else will show up who can answer my question.
  9. Nosaint: As I recall Brees said, upon learning of his departure, "I'll always love that man." So you tell us, why does Brees think so highly of him?
  10. Whether they KNEW it or not at the time, it's clear that Maybin's light weight was a topic of discussion. In this link Nix states (at around :50) that Maybin explained "his metabolism" prevented him from maintaining weight. So obviously they discussed it with him at least once, trying to get an explanation. Maybe they were trying to get him to admit he juiced so they could sue for fraud!
  11. "The Bills’ current brain trust has been cool on Parrish, viewing him primarily as a return specialist..." Really? The author got this completely wrong.
  12. The Bills have Hairston at #2 on the depth chart at RT. Did anyone notice if he played against the Bears and if so, how he looked?
  13. Yea that was brutal! I guess it's a result of the "Twitter generation" or something like that.
  14. I was thinking the same thing.
  15. Easley has been disappointing - physically as well as mentally. He strikes me as a guy who may be prone to the boneheaded play. Hopefully he just had a case of nerves tonight.
  16. Yup. Did everyone see him get knocked off his feet by a running back? Embarrassing.
  17. Wang's getting schooled by Vernon Gholston. As the roster stands right now, if Bell goes down we're in big trouble.
  18. Good call. I just ordered it, looks very cool.
  19. Name the last game you recall Lee being the difference between a W and an L.
  20. Come on, get some better analysis. If it's all about money: 1) Why completely redo the weight room to meet the standards of the new staff? 2) Why have TWO strength/conditioning coaches? 3) Why bring in Wannstedt and basically create a position for him? 4) Why go after Tyson Clabo? 5) Why sign Buster Davis when you already had a glut at the WR position?
  21. I equate Buddy's roster-building philosophy to that of a family who saves for the future rather than spending everything they have. Of course the kids in the family want to see a flashy car in the driveway rather than a Taurus, but when their college tuition is paid for years later, the light comes on and they finally understand the wisdom of Dad's decisions. Buddy time and again confounds most fans by going the delayed gratification route. Hopefully, 3 years from now when the roster is growing up together, the light will come on for all of us. I do not expect Buddy to alter his philosophy just because he inherited a perennial loser with fans who are tired of losing. If Buddy DID change course just to please the "instant gratification" crowd, he'd be the wrong man for the job.
  22. All things considered, I like this move. Nix is clearly betting on the future upside of Johnson/Nelson/Jones/Davis/Roosevelt/Easley as being superior to Evans in his downside years. And I agree with this thinking. Ask yourself, when was the last time you thought of Evans as a difference maker? Also, Chris Brown just wrote about what I was thinking this afternoon about the Buster Davis acquisition - there was absolutely NO REASON to acquire Davis unless Nix was already leaning toward trading Evans. Davis provides some veteran insurance to replace Evans' presence.
