  1. Based on other KW quotes during the year, anyone else think maybe Kyle had an unstated message there for Mario? Such as, "I'm a little too preoccupied now to worry about how clean the towel is...how about you?"
  2. I think you mean, "fool-proof".
  3. Yes, Marv was the Neville Chamberlain of Bills coaches.
  4. On the telecast, Mike Mayock just said he's watched Nassib play for years (apparently played ball with his son) and compared Nassib to Andy Dalton. Very good but not great arm, extremely smart and great competitor. Example given was Nassib's game vs. superior competitiion (USC). Didn't realize Glennon is 6'7". He just threw a bad pick. Mayock also said he doesn't understand why there's not more buzz around Zack Dysert. LIkes him a lot.
  5. It's fine to question. But personally if I was Brandon, I'd much rather shield my head coach and FO staff from pesky media availabilities and instead let him focus on: - getting the new staff on the same page - draft research - player/roster evaluation - free agent negotiations - building offensive & defensive schemes - planning OTA's and training camp schedules A college coach coming into the NFL doesn't exactly have a "template" for effectively planning all these activities at the NFL level and according to the NFL calendar. I'm all for having him huddle in a back room and figure all of this out, as opposed to satisfying the media's curiosity. Sorry JW!
  6. In the sideline clubs, when you go inside you're basically in a sport bar/Chili's environment and you can't see the field except through a TV. I believe the coming upgrades will re-heat the seats outside. In the endzone clubs (M&T and Time Warner clubs), you see the field behind glass, and they have nice food service - buffet is included. With these, there is no "outside" option - you're inside all the time.
  7. Based on Russ' comments a few weeks ago, I gather this will be the new and expanded Bills Store. Becoming clear that improvements to "enhance the fan experience" = increasing the team's revenue opportunities. By enlarging the store and getting it out from the corner of the site, and adding video (a.k.a. advertising) boards, the Bills stand to greatly increase revenues. Of course they have to label these "fan upgrades" - they're seeking public funding after all!
  8. Yea but it also helps when you can make a play. Unfortunately, Whitner made too few of them. I agree with the OP's overall point. Fire in the belly, unrelenting determination, is a hallmark of winners. Is Bellichick a firebrand?
  9. OP: We outsiders don't know for sure that he's been given a pass, only that he's not fired yet. What we do know is that Russ was unequivocal in his insistence that the overall roster has improved under Buddy.
  10. It is interesting that both the Pettine and Crossman hires reflect cases where the incumbent teams wanted to keep the coach, but they opted out and instead jumped ship on their own to Marrone' staff. Hard to know if there were common reasons for this, or if each had different reasons.
  11. Thanks for the chuckle.
  12. injuries. Torell Troup would be on his 3rd pro bowl trip were it not for his back problems.
  13. He doesn't know anguish like we know anguish.
  14. If we could get him at a reasonable price, I'd be in. I'm no expert but I haven't noticed the slide that others are talking about. I'd love Welker on this team, but not at the expense of a bigger receiver. Incidentally, it is possible to get Welker AND get bigger. The two are not mutually exclusive, but there's only so many high draft picks and cap money to spend.
  15. How deceiving that day was.
  16. The problem is, how do you KNOW your guy will still be there? Buddy's already been burned by taking the approach of sticking to his board when others put a higher value than he did on certain QB's. They can't worry about criticisms of "reaching", they just need to go out and get their guy - UNLESS they go big in free agency with either an Alex Smith or Joe Flacco (unlikely he'lll be available).
  17. Agree with much of what you said above, although I don't know what you're basing your speculation about Kelly's interest on? Not to rain on your parade but there's similar talk in the pinned threads.
  18. Excellent hire that inspires confidence in the whole situation. Clearly, Russ is neither cheap nor slow.
  19. Not saying I'm sold on Nassib by any means, but when I watch his play vs. #9 Louisville and Missouri (hostile crowd), I see accuracy, decisiveness, toughness, pretty good vision, good touch on the ball and more than adequate mobility. In 2012, had 21 TDs and 7 INTs. Good size at 6'3", 227. We'll see how he does in the Senior Bowl.
  20. Marrone did say that, too lazy now to find a link. Buddy has used the same phrase when talking about getting up close and personal with potential draftees.
