21-27 Clemson - Let's see if the SU offense can generate anything... Let's not overreact. Babers has this team 6-0, ranked in the top 20, and beat a top 20 ranked team last week. They are down 1 score in Clemson at the end of the game against #5. -
Why do you keep a comin' around Playing with my heart Why don't you get out of my life And let me make a brand-new start Let me get over you The way you've gotten over me, yeah Set me free why don't you, babe Get out my life why don't you, baby (ooh-ooh-ooh) 'Cause you don't really love me You just keep me hangin' on Now you don't really need me You just keep me hangin' on

Yeah the Gadsden 1st down catch was a huge play wiped out by holding. I feel like Syracuse is playing this game in a laundromat the second half. Part bad play and part bad penalties causing an offensive 2nd half melt down.... -

Solid career. Came off the ACL in college. Knew it was bad when they found out about his knees. If I'm not mistaken Rashaad Penny and Sony Michel were supposed to have issues that cold shorten their careers. Not sure if I am remembering that correctly. -

21-16 13:46 to go If SU had done anything on offense off the second half turnovers I'd feel a little better. Get going offense! -
You come on with the come on You don't fight fair That's okay, see if I care! Knock me down, it's all in vain I get right back up on my feet again! Hit me with your best shot Why don't you hit me with your best shot Hit me with your best shot Fire away

SU Defense is playing out of its mind. 4 TO and a Turnover on Downs. The offense is doing nothing the second half..... Get a first down or a FG for heaven's sake. Clemson just put in its freshman QB! 😲 -
I think Cook and Bernard are picks for next season, just like Elam and Benford. Singletary, Edmunds, Dane Jackson are all UFAs this offseason. Not saying Cook or Benford are locks as starters next season, but both guys will have 1 season in their respective systems. Bernard does have 129 snaps played this year. 42 (11%) on defense and 87(62%) on special teams per Profootball Reference and Football Outsiders.

Oh wow, great read! -
You are falling for a sunk cost fallacy. After this season CMC is still an asset with 0 guaranteed money. That makes him a valuable trade commodity if SF wanted to cut bait, or they can not agree on a restructure. Without any guaranteed money there is no hit for SF to trade him if it did not work out, and it allows the trading team to restructure his contract. The draft assets were too rich for Buffalo. I say that as a fan that did want him here as a rental, but not at that cost. SF has $15.9 million in cap space in 2023 with McCaffrey's $12M salary accounted for (OTC is fast!). I've shown how that easily gets dropped to 6-8 million next year freeing up 4-6 million more for SF in 2023 through a basic restructure. Agreed Buffalo didn't have the cap room for even a restructure CMC would agree to, and once the price went to 4 picks it didn't make sense here as a rental. But these comments about SF taking a massive cap hit, or being saddled with a guy are just silly.
-
I understand the point that you and folks who were not on board with CMC to Buffalo are making. FYI 7-8 million would rank 8th in RB salary among current contracts in 2023 and 2024. That is before any new RB contracts or restructures. It is James Conner/ Leonard Fournette money. CMC is still not the highest paid RB on SF then. They will only pay him $670k this year. That is it. If they cut bait with him cut or trade him in the offseason SF wouldn't owe him another penny or have any cap hit. This is why I, and others, viewed him as a perfect rental and gamble. Where I am ok with not getting CMC is giving up 4 solid picks for a 2/3rd of a season rental is too expensive. Carolina had to get a haul of picks because they f*&$#d up heir picks and only had 4 going into next year's draft. They are also responsible for paying $18 million in signing bonuses within the next two seasons. They had to hold out for a haul of picks. As for 'wanting more money' this is a restructure. The reason players willingly restructure is because base salary is not guaranteed. Signing bonuses are. Right now CMC's 2023-2025 base salary total of @$35 million is not guaranteed. None of it. With a restructure as I proposed 90% of it becomes guaranteed. Who wouldn't take that? And my bonuses were a tad high, I neglected to remove the $3.5 M base from the money stretched out over the signing bonus.
-
What big RB contract? Carolina is on the hook to pay his signing bonuses over the next 2 years, all of them. There are no escalators or new guarantees in his contract. 2022 - $1.03 million, of which SF is responsible for $670k 2023 - 11.8 million ($0 guaranteed) 2024 - 11.8 million ($0 guaranteed) 2025 - 12 million ($0 guaranteed) SF takes on his base salary - that is it and it is not guaranteed. If they cut him - $0 cap penalty. They have $25+ million in cap space in 2023 before resigning anyone. A restructure lowers it to $7M easily, leaving SF with CMC and $18M in cap space. Potential restructure 2023 - Base $1.08 M (minimum for 6 accrued seasons) - Signing Bonus $6M - $7.08 cap hit (8th among RBs) 2024 - Base $1.21 M (min for 7 AS) - Signing Bonus - $6M - $7.21M cap hit (8th among RBs) 2025 - Base $1.25 M (min for 8 AS) - Signing Bonus - $7M 2026 - Base $0 (VOIDABLE YEAR) - Signing Bonus - $8 2027 - Base $0 (VOIDABLE YEAR) - Singing Bonus - $8 this is just one example of a restructure SF can do to lower CMC's cap hit to 7-8M a season. Rich for Buffalo, but easy for SF to absorb.
