Cordy Glenn traded to bengals

There are no friends on draft day. There are people to be used and discarded when done. -

Can you imagine the meltdown here if 12 is used on Smith? -

Even if they said something Rosen probably would have great doubt as to whether the Bills were even capable of moving into a position to get him. Kind of like winning Powerball. You don't need to tell friends, neighbors, relatives, etc. to get lost over money until it actually happens. That aside I am sure many players have had "meh" attitudes as to places they did not want to play in but never gave serious thought about. Many guys probably think that GB has little to offer in terms of night life versus thinking about a town that has several championships when the Packers get mentioned. -

The chart is not binding law in terms of value. I would prefer keeping 22 and send a second, the pick for Taylor, and something else IF the plan is to move up to 2 or 3. -

It moved, Jerry. A Seinfeld reference. -

I think that it means if Rosen gets into a situation he dislikes (he already pooh-poohed Cleveland) that he going to pull a Ryan Leaf. -

If this is truly a done deal then Beane has done well today. I figured it would have cost two 1st's to get up in that range so that was like getting a low 1st or top 2nd for Glenn -
It is a big leap and the misconception is still there in that all first round picks carry equal value which leads to silly trade proposals like "I'll give the Giants a first, a second, Cordy Glenn, and Shane Conlan's face guard for the number 2 overall pick."

The "We have too many holes" argument
RochesterRob replied to ColdFront_USAF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The trouble is the guys here banging the table don't know how the prospects are evaluated by the guys who find players for a living versus reading a draft publication or blog. The logic here is akin to buying a car because it looks cool but nobody knows how long it will go before it has to go into the shop. Don't worry. Each "Trader Joe" here will question Beane's manhood when draft day comes and goes and their guy's name was not called when the Bills pick was announced. It won't matter if Beane was telling the truth in that a team did not want to trade or wanted more than the predictions here made in terms of a trade package. -
Me too. All I have seen is pretty much endless speculation coupled with unnamed sources. Gathering more picks could mean attempting to draft more players as well as a lead in to moving up. Those same picks could be used in a trade for a player or players.

Jordy Nelson or Randall Cobb to be cut?
RochesterRob replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nelson has already played his best years from a health standpoint. -
Does Chenelly still have it? We are trageting Keenum
RochesterRob replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bradford's risks are reasonable for the potential upside. Nobody is signing him to a multi-year deal at this point so nobody is eating a big contract that did not work out. Is he cursed in terms of injury in the pro's or will he all of a sudden pull through the mudhole of health issues to become a reliable player? -

That could be said about any team looking to sign a FA QB this year. Especially if the forecast says the next two drafts or so will most likely have lesser talent at the position. -
I have not given up on Cousins but worry he might be a bottom line guy in terms of paycheck and NYS taxes put us at a disadvantage versus other destinations.

You know that there are guys here that will not understand that you are joking? Heck, they already believe that all the top NFL execs visit this site just to get advice on players and coaches.

The way Rex's last draft here worked we would be sitting on a bonanza if we had done that a couple years ago leading into this year. Right now I am thinking of the (in)famous Quartet of Lorne Greene, Pernell Roberts, Michael Landon, and Dan Blocker singing Bonanza in the show of the same name which happened once in its first season.

Draft order and who gets what?
RochesterRob replied to Bornafan66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Honestly, who I think might be interested in the top QB prospects would be nearly half the teams between 1 and 21. Even if they have a young QB at present they might see somebody in the draft who is clearly superior and draft him. 1. Cleveland. Kizer's gone. Even if they sign a FA they still need to think about the future. 2. Giants. Eli is in his late thirties and a high ceiling guy would be hard to pass up. 3. Colts. Luck healthy? If not they may need to address QB sooner than later even with a multitude of other needs. 4. Cleveland. Most logical spot to make some kind of move and get Barkley at 1. 5. Broncos. The ship known as Cousins appears headed out to sea w/o them. 6.Jets. Another situation where even a FA signing means drafting a QB for the near future. 11.Dolphins. Maybe they are satisfied with Tannehill and more than likely they want an upgrade. 12.Bengals. The Bengals and Dalton are like a failed marriage where somebody is asking for a divorce pretty soon. 16.Ravens. Flacco is streaky. Maybe the next guy won't quite as streaky. 17.Chargers. Rivers is getting up there and can't think of a guy to take his place at present if he ages this season. 19.Cowboys. If a guy falls Jones may not pass up an opportunity if Jones thinks there is more upside than with Prescott. Allows Jones to run the QB position on rookie money longer than he previously anticipated plus gets a good pick for Prescott in a trade. Probably the least likely to grab a QB but you never know with JJ. -
The way it is looking any of the top 6 picks are pretty valuable to the teams that hold them. It's going to be very expensive to move up there for the Bills unless the herd which is the NFL FO community has a change of heart in terms of how the top QB's are valued.

Exactly. People are being ridiculous in expecting the current staff to be accountable for regimes that have been gone in some cases decades. The Bills were not the Steelers of the 1970's, the 49'ers of the 1980's, the Cowboys of the 1990's, etc and no amount of whining is going to change the history of this team.
-
Based on other recent move up's such as what the Eagles did a couple of years ago your proposition is insufficient for the first overall pick.

I hope the guy running this site does not give up his day job..............................

The Chargers while Rivers has been there have never been a team that I would say were likely to be conference champs w/o few fortunate happenings along the way. The guys who think too much is not enough to pay and are desperate that if they went to Seneca-Niagara or Del Lago they would be the ones rehearsing their speech to the wife as to why they can't make the next car and mortgage payment. Then they go to their buddies' houses for the next two and half weeks until the wife cools off and borrows the money from her parents. Rest comfortably knowing that 2019 is not already out the window because Beane did not act like a riverboat gambler with those picks.
