  1. I know it is the Bengals we are talking about but McCarron could have been working on his pro game while on the bench. Something says not to say he could not have learned a new trick.
  2. I don't know about that. If they get Roquan Smith with 12 or couple that with 5 to go up a couple spots they have 22, our 2 seconds, and our 2 thirds to bolster the offense. With Price's injury we could get him in the second and still get a choice WR and RB along the way. Late rounds for depth DT and CB.
  3. It would be better to maybe move around just a tiny bit and get Roquan Smith.
  4. I'm going to try to count how many people here today saying we should have tanked said within the last two weeks that getting the drought off of our backs was more important than draft position in 2018.
  5. People do not want to think around here. They would rather carry on like Ralph Kramden (bluster that they did not get their way).
  6. Being that we were sitting at 12 versus 6 the Colts might have asked considerably more from us as a counter bid. Don't assume we were haggling over a 6th or 7th from 2019.
  7. Really? It's way to early to resort to "kool-aid" insults. Beane has not been here for a few years to warrant that.
  8. The point is more than a couple evaluators (such as they were back then) had Blackledge as the top prospect even above Elway. Who is going to be the Blackledge of the 2018 draft?
  9. The Colts might have asked us for a much higher counter bid than what they asked the Jets for, given our 12 versus the Jets' six. The next bid called by the Colts for us might have been another first for them to consider dropping down to 12 in light of the Jets bid.
  10. This happens far more than what happened in 1983 and even then you had Blackledge thrown in.
  11. Missing out on a QB who is not guaranteed to succeed in the NFL undoes what has been done to this point? Melodramatic much?
  12. According to many on this board in no way can anybody else be smarter than they are.
  13. I warned people not to be lulled to sleep by free agent signings and late 30's QB's that supposedly have a few years left. It was all sitting there to be read if a person had an open mind versus looking at everything through Bills' colored glasses.
  14. Doubt it. The feelings are not that harsh in the business side of the NFL. A division rival maybe but even then there are examples of division rivals doing business such as when we traded for Bennett and Bledsoe although I will concede that Bledsoe was a trap laid by BB.
  15. Beane was not there last April unless you want to buy into the theory he was a puppet master from afar.
  16. It's open bidding so what do you do if somebody else offers equivalent value? Where do you stop.
  17. For Pete's sake we don't even know what the other offers were. The Bills may have tried but the 6th overall and 3 quality seconds ain't chicken feed in terms of beating an offer. Guys better start raiding the wives' Valium by the looks of the board.
  18. Yep, people need to realize we would have to have kicked in 22 as well as another 2nd in addition to the three the Jets gave up and perhaps another 2nd or 3rd as well. Just too costly in my mind.
  19. Maybe Jeff Lageman has a draft age son?
  20. This is an interesting statement and ties into Simpson's statement. If there was a point that was the beginning of the "Ralph is cheap" mantra it would have been during the 1970's. My understanding is that is the biggest reason Ralph and Lou Saban had their second and final falling out. The Bills defense had a few pieces and needed a few more to be championship level on parr with the Steelers and Raiders but Ralph supposedly would hear none of it. The times were different in that there was no salary cap and no dead cap repercussions. What ever the contract was between player and team was just that.
  21. The financial dynamics were already changing by the 1970's putting Ralph and other owners such as Art Modell at a disadvantage. For those from Rochester image the owner of Sibley's or McCurdy's owning a team back during the 1960's then image them trying to make a go of it during the 1970's. The cost of doing business was increasing during this time faster than these businesses could raise revenue. Also, as alluded to by others was that other owners such as Bud Adams and Lamar Hunt did not spend to the rafters promoting an inequity in terms of team salary. Money does not automatically buy success but the more times you over pay the better the chance of buying superior talent. The trick is not to buy too many duds between the hits. There is no reason that if Adams and Hunt were so inclined that the AFL would have amounted to an annual showdown between the Oilers and Chiefs. While Ralph deserves credit he is not the only one as some of the others helped shape the league into what we know today. If Adams and Hunt chose to buy the championship interest might have fallen off by the late 1960's closing the door on the merger and the NFL may have not felt the pressure to expand as it did.
  22. I don't think that Rosen carries the same reputation coming out of college that Elway or Manning did so that move may not payoff. Close to the trash heap? It is IN the trash heap. There really is no reason to watch ESPN for me and it is off of my current viewing package.
  23. Baker was probably a surname somewhere in his family's ancestory. I've seen that done a lot. As far as height goes does any athletic shoe maker offer platforms?
  24. As far as Rosen hinting that he does not want to play in Buffalo that can not be proven or disproven. If he is listening to his agent he should be keeping his mouth shut as negative comments might make teams shy away from drafting him affecting his slotting which could cost Rosen and his agent money. As I said before he might take a chance in an interview with Beane to throw it so the Bills might not draft him. At that point it would be his word against Beane's word if nobody else (who would be impartial) is in the room to verify it.
