3 worst passing teams right now are...
Rk_Bills86 replied to Artem Lipatov's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just going to throw this out there (pun fully intended) - The Browns get a small pass for being there. Heavy Run game by design and new coaching staff/system. Not to mention Baker, while he'll never say it publicly, was clearly trying to force throws to OBJ (1- to keep him happy and 2 -because he is enamored with him both as a star and as a friend. He soooooo badly wanted to have gaudy numbers as a combo - his improved play as a late shows this) To all the posters trying to discredit Baker and his ability as a passer - you're blinding yourself to prop up Allen and it's in poor taste. Be real and be honest. Baker is most likely as good (if not slightly better) of a passer of Allen (currently). Allen has better physical gifts/tools but is also in year 3 of a system he has been slowly brought up in and is also surrounded by better talent when it comes to passing options. The Bill's draft board for that year was Allen/Darnold/Baker and I believe without a doubt with the coaching staff and weapons we have it would not have mattered - all 3 would have been successful here. For those talking about KC and would they be more run happy if they had Mahomes AND someone like Henry ..... OFC they would....Andy Reid would think he was reliving the 1971 Punt Pass Kick competition. -
Tomlin is Underrated and Under-appreciated. The guy is a Top 5 coach - the only thing that may knock him out of the top 5 for me would be if he'd completely unable to keep Pitt competitive after Ben retires.

Who is more instrumental in building the Bills?
Rk_Bills86 replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it's impossible to give either McD or Beane more credit for the team. I honestly think, from multiple interviews and interactions, they have a friendship similar to what most guys have with their "Bros". How they are together is exactly how I imagine it would be for my friends and I to actually go through with opening a business we've discussed for years - a reoccurring conversation we've had for years - for us it's a construction/engineering business - for McD and Beane it was being the GM/HC of an NFL team. There is no one without the other. They are the front office version of Hoodie/Brady. -

Lee Smith was WIDE open on Allen's dart to Davis

So Allen did actually initially check Smith, but when he looks the DE looks like he's going to run with him. This is an example of what Allen should work on next year, Yes he clearly sees the soft spot in the zone and the Davis is going to be in the clear to get there - but just as he's gotten better at initial reads of "is this man or zone" - he'll need to be able to say "that's too many defenders on this side of the field- can't be right" and be able to instinctively turn and hit the TE that's released. Having a better TE that he could trust to beat a DE that dropped in coverage with him might also make this an easier choice. This is a prime example of how Allen has gotten so much better but is NOT at the same level of say Rodgers. There is a great clip from a game where Rodgers comes to line, scans the D set up, and does a literal double take on who's defending his #1 WR.... He literally stares at it a bit longer and then smiles - snaps, pretends to go through his reads away from the WR he already knows is going to be wide open and then just calmly snaps back and throws to the mismatched coverage for an easy and open TD. -

Rk_Bills86 replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Our RB issue is we should be using them closer to how KC does it and less of how the Browns and Titans do. If Daboll stays for some reason, it would be the one thing I would hope he looked into. -
Diggs proves the trade skeptics wrong
Rk_Bills86 replied to 27yankees's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Anyone that might be saying - OH we could have had Jefferson with our first round pick.... 1) There was no way of knowing he would be there when we picked 2) There was no way of knowing he would actually be as good as he is 3) As is the case with almost all rookie WRs, he has limitations as a pro - but he has 100% taken advantage of his situation and having Cousins certainly helps (it's not like he's on the Jags/Bear/Jets where the QB situation is..... poor) Trading for a proven 26 yr old and seeing immediate returns not only from his own production but what it has done to increase the production of the team makes us the overall winner. I'd also like to add.... for a rookie as our number 4 WR Davis is having a stellar season : 25 rec for 422 yds and 5 tds (Not exactly a slouch for rookie stats) For quick comparison Jefferson is 61 rec for 1039 yds and 7 tds.... While it's not fair to do a strait extrapolation and comparison, just for fun - if we bump Davis up to 50 catches his stat line comes to 50 rec for 850 yds and 10 tds - not a fair comparison but still. We got Diggs AND Davis. Frankly we're stacked. -

So there was and has been this stigma that players don't want to come to B-Lo for multiple reasons. One of the most important things that McD and Beane did was really change that. I don't see it posted on here often but one of the biggest sales pitches (not The Process) is actually the following line: "Come to Buffalo, and be the best you that you can be." They also truly believe in starting the best player regardless of salary or past performance. Spots are up for grabs if you prove you are worth it. There is also the push and clearly visible "family" of the team. You as a player are not the only ones welcome - but your whole family. What they have done in the past 4 years is nothing short of a miracle. -
End of the Carson Wentz Era
Rk_Bills86 replied to Giuseppe Tognarelli's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wentz is a good QB that looked "GREAT" with a functioning O-Line and with weapons around him. A better way to look at him would be: - He can make use of talent around him OR He does not waste talent around him. This is NOT the same as being a phenomenal QB - which can be defined as someone that makes those around him look even better. This is reserved for the likes of Rodgers, Wilson, Brees, and even Brady. Wentz is 100% a starting caliber NFL QB - but like many - including our very own JA - needs talent around him to succeed. He does not have the skill to literally drag players and terrible teams into the playoffs. -
Can someone explain QBR & Allen's 75.2% QBR vs. SF???
Rk_Bills86 replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'll say it again - Passing for 300 yards is NOT a valid singular end-all metric for measuring a QB - Just like wins are NOT a valid singular end-all metric for measuring a QB. Your first line of our O - Ranking IS however valid but lacks context and content. The fact that you refuse to engage in meaningful discussion surrounding that context honestly shows you don't have enough knowledge on the last four seasons to be debate the subject. Your arguments are the same old tripe that has fans and some franchises stuck in the past. Analytics are a thing, step up your arguments with stats backed by large sample sizes. And just to note - the Offense improved each year that Daboll has been here.... interesting. -
I'm sure other people have noted it - but if you were looking for a place to show you know your stuff as an OC - JA and his weapons seems like a pretty good gig. You'd have to imagine if you were looking for an OC job there won't be many better options that aren't on rebuilding teams with possible office strife.

Fewest Punts in a season is 34 .... didn't realize we were being that efficient. It's honestly kind of impressive and a testament to how we've approved.

Rk_Bills86 replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would like to chime in on the Daboll system stuff. Let's get a few things out of the way: - It's not an easy system - It takes 1) time to learn and 2) time to take advantage of it - As players (mainly young ones) get used to NFL level/concepts, Daboll's system thrives in setting up players to succeed @Billsfan1972 You should know that throwing for 300 yards doesn't mean jack - it's a poor argument - and a terrible hill to die on. You would be better off arguing that the offense felt anemic prior to this season... But... Just to kind of hammer the point that 300 yds passing is a terrible metric to care about: - Man those Chargers and Bengals sure are killing it with all those 300+ yard passing games - I will give a less facetious retort ... in 2018 teams that threw for 300+ yards won less than 50% of the time while in 2019 teams throwing for 300+ yards won 52% of the time. Passing Yards is not a metric to measure a teams success NOR is it a metric to measure a QBs skills and abilities (Case in point: Jameis Winston) - McD had TT as his QB with K. Benjamin and Zay Jones as his top 2 WRs for the first 16 games.... and MADE the playoffs (I concede it took a literal miracle in a game we did not play in to get in - but we still got there) - no one was going to throw for 300 yards on our team that year. - Year two for McD ..... our starting QB was supposed to be Derek Anderson (yeah that screams 300 yards) and a rookie JA with the top two WRs being..... Foster and Zay Jones.... I can not in all honesty tell you that our combo of top WRs in 2018 was any better than the Jets this year. To expand on this point - the Jets this year with what I would say is a comparable WR core to our 2018 group has a season high of 257 passing yards.... So we can remove another 16 games from your count So when you really look at it, McD and Daboll and JA took 17 games to have a 300 yard passing game. Josh Allen, a Project QB, who was always going to time to bring along, who was by no means a polished product, learning not only a complicated system, but to read NFL defenses, and then have to combine both of those knowledge pools to be effective. The Bills had good WR's last year with some additional help/weapons and along with basic improvement, JA's stats improved. They went out and got him even more help and along with his drive to succeed, a better understanding of the game and scheme, Allen is going bonkers. Dabolls system didn't hold Allen back in 2018 and 2019 - Allen's lack of football knowledge at the NFL level on both sides of the ball along with mechanical deficiencies and a lack of or limited weapons hamstrung his progression. The 2020 Bills offense success is not and can not be 100% contributed to a single aspect but you can look at the following factors: - The Bills have weapons on Offense at every position - The Diggs acquisition broke the flood gates, but Brown and Beasley with another year together, and what appears to be a steal in the Rookie Davis have all be evident. - JA is driven to improve his mechanics and skillset (ignoring his improved footwork - his timing, placement, and touch are all leaps and bounds better) - JA is now in year 3 of Daboll's system and the training wheels are off. - Daboll's system is complex but designed to force the D to show their hand (initially) - JA's ability to understand and take advantage of the above statement has been the biggest factor of success I also want to bring up that everyone was giving Allen crap for regressing for about 4 games.... Except he had a separate shoulder on his non-throwing arm.... The only commentator that even weighed in on this was Hasselbeck, who said he sustained a similar injury and it effected his throwing for 5 weeks (which lines up Allen's performances) -

Interesting thought - we could have had 3 - 7 more points if we scored on that opening drive. And the game could have been an almost total blow out if Moss doesn't have a mental lapse on that hand off. -

Interesting thought - We don't even have John Brown. If Allen can keep getting better and and showing up well against top D's - we could be looking at walking into the playoffs with a great mind set and some momentum. -

The commentators have been pretty spot on - yes they are praising Shanahan - but they are also noting that Allen (who has had ALLLLLL day to throw) is able to actually beat people now. Remember all that talk of - contain Allen and make him beat you with his arm? Yeah..... maybe don't let him throw.
