4 year, $36 million extension for Quincy Enunwa
DCOrange replied to DCOrange's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's going to be playing in the slot the entire time anyway so generally the guys trying to cover Evans or Zay wouldn't really be matching up with Hump anyways. The question is whether or not zone coverage will be shaded towards Humphries if he were in a different situation; I doubt it, but the only way to find out is by bringing him in and seeing what happens. I think he's good enough to hurt defenses but not so good that defenses will build their coverage around stopping him. Not to mention you would hope that Buffalo is bringing in more than just Humphries this offseason; I think the goal would be for Humphries to be the #3 option in the passing game. -

One potential WR target off the board to the Jets. -
As far as free sites go, I think The Draft Network is really good for getting a feel for prospects. WalterFootball & Bleacher Report are honestly fine. WalterFootball gets a bad rap because the guy that founded the website is scum and some of their articles are just kinda stupid, but Charlie Campbell does most of the heavy lifting there at this point and he's actually well-connected. His NFL Hot Press articles in particular are something that you don't really get anywhere else. Matt Miller from Bleacher Report is good IMO. I don't always agree with his takes on prospects, but he provides more depth than most. This early in the draft process, there really isn't much content; you'll get the occasional article from Kiper/McShay or the guys at NFL.com, but for the most part, you're already looking at the best that we can get until we get into like the NFL Combine and draft workouts. One other recommendation would be DraftAnalyst.com aka Tony Pauline. I especially found his articles to be a good read once we get into Pro Days; he reports on which teams are attending which pro days, which prospects they're spending time with, etc. At this point in the season, the value that he provides is updating us on some under-the-radar prospects and some prospects that seem to be slipping in recent weeks.

The Bills need a WR and the mocks you happen to be seeing are people that are very high on him. The ESPN guys and WalterFootball and supposedly NFL teams don’t really see Metcalf as a first round prospect right now but there’s a long ways out still. This is a really deep WR class so my personal preference would be to go another route in the first round and take multiple WRs later but that’s just me.

On the DK Metcalf topic, Charlie Campbell had this to say:

Been waiting for this: The Draft Network finally reviewed one of the WRs that jumped out at me last year during my QB scouting: Marshall's Tyre Brady. If you're tired of watching the Bills' WRs drop passes over and over, this is a guy that can fix that. His hands and body control are awesome IMO. https://thedraftnetwork.com/2018/12/27/2019-nfl-draft-player-profile-tyre-brady/

Justin Herbert Returning For Senior Season

I really think he might fall out of the first round next year. -
[Name Only Title] DeSean Jackson
DCOrange replied to FLBillsGuy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Considering Adam Humphries is a free agent and DeSean will probably be cut or traded, I doubt Godwin is remotely available. He's a stud though. I'd rather cut McCoy than keep McCoy and use his friendship to sign DeSean, but that's just me. DeSean would be a healthy upgrade over the current WR corps though. -
I’d rather go with Ed Oliver and Deebo but this is pretty much as good as it gets IMO. Probably my #1 and #2 WR prospects in the draft.

Breakdown of one of my favorite WRs in the draft class. Would love to target this guy on Day 2 or early Day 3 depending on where his draft stock is by April. https://thedraftnetwork.com/2018/12/19/video-content-stanleys-morgan-vertical-route-running/

I don't know why people are even mentioning Aaron Donald as a possibility. There's no way that a defensive player on a below average defense is going to win the MVP award. We went through this with JJ Watt already, who had a far stronger case for it IMO. Oddshark has it right; it's Mahomes or Brees with an outside shot of Rivers and a super outside shot of Luck.

Possible New RB's if Shady and Ivory are Still Wounded

Martez Carter from the Saints practice squad. -
Zay Jones & Robert Foster - Advanced Metrics
DCOrange replied to DCOrange's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For those wondering why catches + drops doesn’t equal catchable targets, watching Zay today was a good example of it. He really struggled to make contested catches. -
I said that McCoy is paid like a top 3 RB and is not that level of player anymore and you asked if I was sure about that. At any rate, we'll have to agree to disagree on McCoy being good still. Even ignoring the O-Line, he's simply not as elusive as he used to be. His elusiveness rating has dropped off from being elite early in his career to simply being good/great for a few years and has now been flat out bad for the past 2 years. Ivory, on the other hand, has been more successful in terms of making people miss, which is part of the reason that Ivory is ranked 22nd by PFF while McCoy is ranked 52nd out of 63. McCoy is dead last in DVOA versus Ivory being 29th out of 40, and Ivory is 30th in success rate versus McCoy being 36th. Pretty much everything out there suggests that Ivory is better than McCoy at this point and Ivory is at best a below average starter. The O-Line was relatively fine last year and McCoy still ranked among the worst qualified RBs in the league in all those categories with the exception of PFF where he rated as a below average starter.

And if he is, then it's only a wash of an investment. That's the whole point. Having the 2nd pick in the draft is a gigantic asset to be used at a position where you can actually extract value. Paying an elite QB backup QB money for example is life-changing for an NFL franchise. Taking Bradley Chubb there and having him pan out would be a great value. Taking Saquon and having him pan out is basically a net-zero investment. He's already being paid like an elite player whereas taking a QB, pass rusher, corner, etc. at that spot would be paying them like an average or below average starter.
