EJ played with some real talent. He was over drafted and was not given a chance to develop. Physically they have some similarities, but EJ's situation is much more like Rudolph, a guy who played with really good players, who made him look good, who gets over drafted. To me it is hard to watch Allen film, because the guys he played with and the guys he played against all kind of sucked. Playing quarterback in that scenario is really just difficult. I think if you swapped Allen and Rudolph, Allen would have broke a bunch of NCAA records, and Rudolph would be working at Wal- Mart next year.

Yep this. People make such a big deal about completion percentage and numbers and crap like that and want to draft a career backup at 12. Honestly, if a person cannot see the upside of Allen and see the limitations of Rudolph, I don't know what to say. This is about as obvious as it gets and people need to understand that the draft is about upside projection and having a guy who can make NFL throws consistently. That is not Rudolph. He is a third round pick. He is no better than Aj McCarron or Nathan Peterman, in fact I think both have more upside. Therefore, why bother? I may spontaneously combust if we draft him in the first round. If you want to take him in the third to add depth to the position, cool. But taking him in the first, let alone 12, is utter insanity. Fans are projecting something with Rudolph that simply isn't there. They are hopeful that we can get him without trading up and he will somehow be the answer. He simply is not the answer. I also love the narrative that Allen was surrounded by all of this NFL talent in 2016 and still had some accuracy issues. Who are these guys? Brian Hill, a running back drafted by the Falcons who got cut, wound up on the Bengals practice squad and had like 30 yards rushing. Chase Roullier, a sixth round center who may start for the Redskins this year. Jacob Hollister an UDFA of the Patriots who was their 3rd-4th tight end. Tanner Gentry, an UDFA receiver who was on the Bears practice squad. The bottom line is that this guy played with nobody. I'm all in on Rosen, but anyone who denies the tremendous upside of Allen really has no clue what they are talking about.

It makes sense that those are the two. I still lean Rosen because he is ready to play. Allen just needs so much time, but could be amazing.

I do think Denver wants a corner, and it makes no sense to draft him at 5. That's why I think a trade up makes a ton of sense at that spot.

I have a two month old right now. My first. It's crazy how little I matter. Everything I do is for her and it is awesome. If I looked like him I would never wear a shirt. It's a way to connect with the baby, also helps their immunity as some of our good oils and bacterias rub off on them.

None of this is a big deal imo. They likely have deals laid out based on a number of scenarios, with a number of different teams. That is why they did something like 5 mock drafts as a staff. Also, they are only going to give up draft capital for a guy they think is worth it. He has said this numerous times. Again. I know people disagree with me, but what the Jets did was dumb and short sighted. If they were really targeting Mayfield, maybe they could have gotten him at 4 or even 6. Beane is operating like a thoughtful GM, and I love it. I still think Darnold or Rosen are the guy, but who knows. I'm guessing they liked both, and know that they cannot get Darnold...either the Browns are taking him first, or the Giants are going to take him if the Browns pass. So I think they are trying to find a way to get Rosen.

I think there is one huge difference between Losman and Rudolph, and that is talent. Losman had it. Came from all spread offense as well. Threw a great deep ball but wasn't great in the intermediate areas. Losman is a great comparison. Rudolph though, is not even close to the prospect Losman was. Imo he just doesn't have the talent to get it done in the NFL. He's a 3rd round prospect in my eyes. I would absolutely hate it if he were the pick and it would guarantee two years of AJ McCarron starting at quarterback.

I am not a scout either, but I feel he does not have adequate arm strengths. He throws a nice deep ball but he cannot drive the ball into tight windows. I see a guy who threw to a bunch of wide open receivers. I'm sure he is a very nice guy, but again I think his ceiling is Drew Stanton, a guy that can come in and start a few games and be mediocre. Stanton had a bit more potential and athletic upside coming out. Does Rudolph do some nice things? Sure. So do AJ McCarron and Nathan Peterman. Go watch AJ McCarron play and tell me Rudolph has more upside. Go watch Peterman's college film and tell me the same. Those guys were 5th round picks. I think Rudolph lovers are missing the point that Rudolph changes nothing and does not alter the destiny of this franchise. We need a high potential, elite quarterback prospect on this team. That is Darnold, Allen, Rosen and one could argue Jackson. I even understand why people like Mayfield, though I strongly dislike him. He does have upside. Rudolph is a JAG. Nothing special and will not beat out McCarron. He changes nothing and we will be looking for a quarterback again in 2 years.

I don't think you have to eat it. The biggest thing is that he would have kept Jim Schwartz, so after we fired Hue, we would have already had out new head coach on staff.

You are definitely entitled to that opinion, but I really can't understand how anyone could actually think this way. They are both so-so passers, Rudolph probably a bit better. They have terrible footwork. Jackson is a ridiculous athlete with great size. Rudolph has great size, but has small hands and limited arm strength. Both need lots of work, but the upside of Jackson, if you can develop him is exponentially higher than Rudolph. Rudolph's floor is something like Bryce Petty and his ceiling is probably something like Drew Stanton. Jackson's floor is "switch to another position," and his upside is a better Mike Vick. That is what I see.

It's not six. It is four. And I would only take three of them. Darnold, Rosen, Allen. Jackson makes some sense with a huge upside. Rudolph is a wasted pick as he is a marginal talent who might be a serviceable back up.

I love it. If you love football, this is three days of lots of Xs and Os analysis, which is what I love. Yes there is a ton of boring promotional crap and listening to Trey Wingo's smug bullcrap. I could honestly listen to Mike Mayock talk about football all day. I loved him on Thursday night football. People thought there was too much analysis but I loved it.

Maybe they want us to take him off their hands as part of a trade up? He's been terrible at LT, so needs to be a RT. He is better than Mills though.

I'll keep saying it, but I really hope all the Rudolph lovers come back here and read all of this irrational stuff. He sucks. Nice numbers and solid college career. He is not an NFL starter and certainly not a franchise quarterback. This idea needs to go away. He has almost 0 physical upside. He's a bigger version of Kellen Moore, without any pro style experience. Moore threw a tremendous deep ball, but could not get the velocity on the ball to zip it and throw outside the numbers. Watching Rudolph throw the out patterns at the combine was comical. Many of those throws in shorts would have been interceptions. People need to stop building this guy up as the squeaky clean great white hope. He is not good. Oh and btw, Moore's hands are actually bigger than Rudolph's. I don't understand what people are seeing, or making themselves see.

I think all he is saying, which is what he has been saying all along, is that he has a certain value on certain players. I don't think it means he's fine with whatever quarterback, I think it means they have a couple of guys targeted during different points of the draft and they are not going to reach and overpay. I think they try to get into the top five for Darnold, maybe target Rosen in that 6-12 range. And they have contingency plans either way. They probably have other places in the draft that they have some guys targeted. The interesting thing is the comment about "what flaws are you willing to deal with" quote. I think this takes a guy like the resident tiny crotch grabber off the board. Probably Allen too for inaccuracy. Maybe Rudolph for tiny hands and a weak arm. Those are all things that are probably deal breakers. To me that leaves Darnold and Rosen. Darnold has a turnover issue that can be corrected. Rosen has opinions. They probably like someone in the next tier as well, whether that is Jackson or White or something remains to be seen. They will not force things.

When there are a number of different guys on a team the most important aspect is to be yourself. No one likes a person who tries to be something they aren't. Are there going to be guys on the team who don't like him? Maybe. But that is true of pretty much every team. Win and none of it matters.

I guess my point is that it is not a bargain at all and I think his production is suspect playing with Brees. JMO

It's a huge overpay. This guy will wash out in Baltimore.

Ok here is where I am at. I like a slow methodical GM who is not going to overpay. He said he would only move up for the guy he thinks is worth the move. Maybe that's Sam Darnold and he's not available at 3. Now you moved up for no reason. I love that they are idenifying their guy and will be aggressive on draft night to get "their" guy. What the Jets did was dumb and short sighted. I would hate to have a GM who likes three quarterbacks and will take whichever one is left. That's ridiculous. Beanie is going to wait till draft night when he knows he can get his guy and is going to do whatever it takes. Sure he is working his ass off working scenarios with a number of teams right now, but those trades are going to be contingent on "their" guy being there. I'd rather not draft a quarterback than settle for a guy you really did not want. That is bad GMing 101 right there and that's why Whaley is out of a job.
