Game Thread MNF: Patriots at Jets on ESPN
Kelly the Dog replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know you're not supposed to root for injuries against any player ever but am I a bad person if I root for injuries for both teams? -
But you said you were really pissed and then mentioned three games we likely would not win the rest of the season, and possibly a fourth. The only semi-tough games that we have left. That implied to me that it will end up 12-4 or at worse, 11-5, and you're not going to be happy unless they look good doing it. Leaving at halftime of a 14-9 game because you couldn't stand it anymore is lame IMO.

SNF: Eagles at Cowboys (-3) 8:20 NBC
Kelly the Dog replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It wasn't a bonehead decision or even a horrible pass. White made a great close and great diving catch. I guess you could argue why even bother trying to throw against him but that takes away too much of any offense. Even Tre White who made the play doesnt make that play more than two out of ten times IMO. -
First Time I have been concerned with Josh Allen
Kelly the Dog replied to PlayoffsPlease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just watched the first half again. Josh was not awful at all. He's wasn't very good but it was hardly on him. He picked up both a 2-20 and 1-20 for first downs. He ran for a couple first downs on third (one was called back). He missed two longer throws, one to Brown who was covered (one yard ahead and would have needed a perfect pass right on the sideline with two defenders near) and one to Dawson who was totally blanketed and was not going to make the catch. He threw 3 darts for 10-20 yard plays. Two to Brown and one to Knox. The fourth dart was dropped by Knox that would have been first and goal. The one time we punted on 3rd and 11 Daboll called an ill-advised screen that was smothered immediately and had nothing to do with Josh. The one play everyone complained about he had to throw away he got away from three guys that should have tackled him and barely had time to try to get away from the fourth. Even if he threw it away it would have been 3-10 instead of 3-14. He didn't throw one terrible ball and not one was even close to being a turnover excluded a blocked pass early that went into the air and a Bill knocked it down. Again, you couldn't say he was good but he wasn't even bad if you watch each play he had and what he did with it.- 345 replies

John Brown is playing like a #1 WR

Lou Piccone was better on the Sopranos than he was on the Bills. -

Absolutely. I love Brown, probably more than most, and yet "my" personal definition of a #1 WR he probably does not fit. There are only about 12-15 of them in the entire league. To me, Brown is clearly the best of a committee approach, even though he can do the entire route tree. -

I always liked Brown. I was thrilled when we signed him and he has played great. The problem with any discussion about a "#1 WR" is that ten people have ten different definitions of exactly what "#1 WR" exactly means. -

That's not asking too much of a 17 game raw prospect, combining the best deep ball thrower of a generation with one of the all-time best QBs ever, who did it all. -

Signing crappy quarterbacks? Granted, I love me some Fitzy. You just can't trust the bastard. -

The only reasonable thing a coach can say. We should have never gotten rid of that dude. That's a winner! except his team is losing and we got a good guy there now. So carry on. -

How close is he to double digit teams? That would be impressive. -

What if Daboll comes back with "I'm not tellin'?!" Huh, smart guy? What happens then?! -

Agree. He has been awful this year. But we know he can do it because he has. As far as the OP goes, I think it's very impressive to watch the game yesterday, drink ALL night into the next day and then find your way to the phone or keyboard. Well done fine sir. -
Postgame: Dolphins 21 at Bills 31
Kelly the Dog replied to Do The Reich Thing's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This just in, coaches in general and McDermott in particular do not play the games to get stats, or to show off an ability to do A or B for future games. They play to win the game in front of them. Period. -

Yep. He would tell quarterbacks "You'll think you can make this pass and you'll throw it but you can't. I know. I did it 600 times." They put him in man coverage which he is not nearly as good at. Fitz definitely took advantage. -
How to shorten the game
Kelly the Dog replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Who has the nads to tell him that if you shorten the game to watch more games those games would be shortened too and he wouldn't be able to see them? -
McDermott in early COY discussion
Kelly the Dog replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I still think that McDermott is an excellent defensive coach and an excellent motivator, and designs some decent game plans with his coordinators but he is not a good in game coach, espically time management, and for a stickler for fundamentals it's ridiculous how many stupid penalties and false starts and undisciplined plays these guys make. Glad we have him though. -
Yep. Although today he missed two deep ones pretty badly. One he threw with very little air underneath and the other where he did throw it high, more of a lob but he missed them both long by five yards.

Joe B Observations on Bills win over Phins
Kelly the Dog replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The good Fitzy is a pretty darn good QB. The bad Fitzy is more bad than the good Fitzy is good. The good Fitzy doesn't usually show up more than half the time, but he did today.- 63 replies

I would agree he has had major trouble connecting on deep passes. No question. In 50 years of following football I have never heard of bombs being referred to as touch passes. Touch passes are always ones you take a little off to try to drop it into the receiver. Usually lobs or changing your normal direct throws. Usually short or over the shoulder types like the one to Duke where you loft it.
