  1. Unfortunately, it feels like we just got a swirly. I do appreciate the kind words.
  2. Depends on how it affects him. Some people, maybe the majority, operate worse when they are angry. For others it's a good motivator. And some, who seem under control, really aren't. Marv is a great example of a guy who seems from afar to be so professorial and even keeled, and he was a salty screamer.
  3. It did seem out of character for him. I don't think he consulted the English-Coachspeak/Coachspeak-English dictionary.
  4. I'll sue the bastard!!!
  5. IIRC, McCrary was more of a Rex thing, and it was a conditional 7th round pick two years later.
  6. You're talking about a guy who drafted and then started Nathan Freakin' Peterman twice!
  7. Thanks, Officer. We need to figure out a way to run into each other again.
  8. I agree with Mr. McBride that the two or two of the three best offensive minds in the game were all over Mahomes in the draft. But he was FAR from a lock or automatic choice. McD is a conservative guy by nature, so he decided to go for the QB in the following year, which was already known to be loaded, as well as pick up a starting CB who turned into a stud. That is not a stupid choice or decision. Yes, he could have chosen Mahomes. And Mahomes would have got MURDERED last year on the Bills.
  9. True, and I am not sticking up for McD here, but it's a lot different for a HC, especially a new one, even if he is in charge of the draft, than a GM who is scouting all year.
  10. He could have watched some film, decided that he had no idea how he would possibly defend him, so he must then draft him. Not as much as a couple wins. That set us back decades!
  11. Whaley went along with EJ. There were no reports I know of that he was against it. But Buddy Nix was not leaving his job without getting a QB and he chose EJ, along with Brandon. There wasn't much choice, and they did trade down and got Kiko, too, who became Shady.
  12. Thanks but not sure that works. It's just $2.99 to subscribe. Support your local newspapers, or at least SPCA.
  13. That would be me. Named after Jim Kelly, the dog, a Hall of Fame hound.
  14. Much obliged, NoHuddle. It's obviously a lot more fun and easier to write a recap after a win. They can't lose to the Redskins, can they?
  15. Yup, and they backed themselves into a corner in Whaley's first year where they just had to draft one early, and it just so happened to be one of the worst years ever for QBs. They botched up the position for so long in so many different ways, obviously.
  16. No burn bridges or throw anyone under the bus would be to say, "We like the guys we have. We made and received calls trying to improve our team but the prices were too high for us to make a deal."
  17. Not to mention that EJ was really a Nix pick. There is no indication that Nix did anything in the Hughes trade, although it is possible. He was already out the door. He wasn't going to leave before getting a QB and he wanted EJ (amongst all of the other crappy choices). and you're absolutely right about the trade down and result.
  18. We talked this to death the other way. My opinion is that he is in a unique position with his checkered past, and that if he and/or his agent tell certain teams that are interested in him that he is not interested in playing there at this point in his recovery, life and career, they may not or will not put in a claim. Whereas with other players they would say you play here and like it. So Bellichick is a genius again for way overpaying?
  19. So he either bad-mouthed previous administrations, or Brandon Beane and himself, or both. Not sure that was necessary.
  20. Now that the deadline has passed, I have one word: Josh Freakin' Gordon. If possible.
  21. Agreed. But it’s worked numerous times as a designed run. Both should be used. I agree he calls far too many in the middle of the field and I’m someone who doesn’t mind him running a lot.
  22. C+. Less Lee Smith More Singletary in run and pass game Less DiMarco on pass plays (tried to throw deep to him Sunday) More Foster. Less Zay which was solved. Few Less designed Josh runs outside of the Opponent five yard line. More rolling pocket and boot plays.
  23. Morse’s quote doesn’t even back Daboll specifically up. It’s more of a no matter who it is, we’re soldiers and we do our duty and run the plays that are called no matter how stupid or smart.
  24. Thanks, eball. Here is a portion of the article as a tease... ‘“The run game was the real killer, as Allen and Carson Wentz mirrored each other on the field and in the stats, before several late incompletions by Allen with the Bills trailing by 18 points. The desperate Eagles played with desperation; the good kind. The complacent Bills played with hesitation. The Eagles dominated time of possession by 12 minutes, including a soul-crushing, game-defining 8:17 touchdown drive in the fourth quarter. Even something named Boston Scott scored on the ground for Philly. Allen threw for two sixes, and no picks, but could never sustain momentum, or perform his trademark late-game heroics. He got little help from his line, run game, backs, receivers or coaches, but made his share of misreads, misfires and mishandling of the football. The winds wreaked havoc with passes and kicks for both sides, but favored neither. The Eagles soared and scored when they needed to; the Bills staggered and floundered. A team will often go through the winds of change several times over the long season. The Bills had some early bluster that fanned the flames of lofty predictions, and stats, especially on defense. But the howling airstream that swept through Sunday got them off their game and high horse. The next few winnable games might decide if they will weather the storm or get blown away. Boom or bust, gloom or gust.”
