  1. Did you watch the same Allen as the rest of us? He took safe/check downs most of the game. Distributed the ball to most of the offense and was under duress most of the 1st half. He had like 2 bad throws outside of the 2nd last drive with 17 to go. The 2nd down play on that drive was the right decision but under thrown, other 2 were looking for too much. Overall, Allen had a great game of "playing within the system" and "taking what they give you". Agreed on line play. Hopefully this is a case of "they gel with time together".
  2. Decent, but not good performance. We're clearly built to stop KC (and all the other pass heavy teams). Against a team like Tennessee our best in the league pass defense is just ok.
  3. Good game of football. Probably best game this week. I'd love a blowout, but it's still an entertaining Monday night.
  4. It's wierd that nobody remembers what a close game feels like. It's ok and expected to have an opponent challenge you sometimes. We still have controlled the ball, controlled the clock, and are likely to be tied or up going into halftime with us getting the ball first. It's not domination, but that is still a decent strong game with room to improve.
  5. Anyone see sugar high Brady just float his first pass and almost intercepted? (I'm thinking it had nothing to do with the rain coming down)
  6. That was good clock management and coaching sub 2 mins. Shame to waste that timeout earlier though.
  7. I guess it's too early and the sarcasm too thick. I thought the Daball play call reference from last week would be enough of an indicator. Sorry old man. As a serious response, I agree the original post is not workable with current NFL rules.
  8. I feel like he's onto something, but it could use a little work. Why not put haak in the backfield on 4th and inches. That way when the play is blown up and Allen throws the ball backwards he can just kick it instead of running into a defender? We can call it the RPK option play.
  9. This. People will think that return validates McKenzie, but that one was more about the bottom 10 of the roster that nobody thinks of.
  10. This article is a great read. I don't typically quote articles, but I found this comment sums up the excitement of watching Allen play the last few years and got a good chuckle out of it.
  11. Isn't singletary (or moss) like the top rated blocking rb in the league? I'll take "solid but not exciting" backs if they can help to open up the pass game like they did last year.
  12. If I'm referencing the correct and final revision of the CBA, the money for the extra checks comes out of the performance bonus pool and does not count against the cap at all (sort of). This means there are no modifications to the cap. Keep in mind I'm just a dude reading publicly available material, but here's my best interpretation of the CBA. Money that is determined once, but paid out over multiple checks does not get increased (but the divisor changes from 17 to 18). Money that is calculated on a per game basis results in an increase (meaning an extra check). As an example, if a player has a $1.7M roster bonus based on opening day roster that is paid out over 17 checks their game checks will go from 17 x $100k checks to 18 x $94.4k checks. However if a player has a $100k roster bonus per game active, they will receive a 18 x $100k checks, assuming they were on the roster for each game. This means that the amount extra a player receives is dependent upon the structure of the contract. For a team with the same roster throughout the season, this means there is no cap implication. However, if a team used 1 player for 9 weeks and a different player for 9 weeks to replace them it is possible they would end up having extra salary count against the cap. (Bc neither player is restricted by the 17 week limit). I didn't spend enough time to find out if seasonal performance based payments are modified, but the literal interpretation would be "get 12 sacks over the course of the season" stays the same but "average 100 rushing yards per game calculated by total yards divided by number of games active" would require an additional 100 yards over the season to achieve the bonus. I don't have enough experience to estimate how much of contracts overall is the fixed type vs the per game type. Remember, all of the above could be wrong if the available cba I found is not the approved version.
  13. The gist of it is they get an extra "game check". Players that signed under the old CBA get 1/17 of their annual as a check for the extra game (as long as on active roster). Players under new CBA get 34 weekly checks now. This expands to be 36 weekly checks with the extra game. Either way, it is roughly prorated based on salary and adding 1 more game on. It obv gets more complicated with what goes into a game check and how signing bonuses are accounted for.
  14. Tampa has been very "hot or not" all year. I don't see a traditional close game. Either GB wins in a landslide or TB leads the whole game and Rodgers gets the ball with 30 seconds left needing to score a desperation touchdown to tie it.
  15. Bradshaw on Josh: "strongest arm in the league". No comment on accuracy, but sounded very positive that Josh has a strong arm and will throw it many times today.
  16. It's pretty straightforward. Once in the protocol, you follow the protocol. The protocol has multiple steps. Even if he is not believed to have a concussion, they will follow the steps until he is cleared to play. There's no such thing as "opps, protocol was an accident", that would circumvent the entire point. You go into the protocol in any case where it is deemed likely that a concussion was suffered, even it not diagnosed with a concussion.
  17. On halftime replay the Diggs bomb looked accurate until it took a right turn for the last 15 air yards. It was a good play and good throw absent the wind.
  18. This is an incredibly shallow take. Most on this board are savvy enough to realize that individual plays aren't called in a vacuum. Plays are sometimes called to beat what the other team is calling, or more importantly to setup a desirable matchup on future plays. There were some great examples on the drive that had moss's injury and ended in the go route where we forced them into that play. The touchdown probably doesn't happen without what came before. Josh's outside scrambles and called outside runs forced the DLine into outside contain and then qb draws pulled the mid field coverage down to protect. The runs that people are complaining about literally caused a touchdown. The point of the OP was to try and deduce what was going on that warranted all the runs. To me it looked like overall the Colts had a great coverage game plan that took away alot of the shorter crossers and outs. They did it by rushing only 4 most of the time. We've been able to beat this in the past when the O line gives some time for guys to find a gap in coverage. Today, the O line lost the battle. The called runs were intended to slow down the outside pass rush and bring more into the box to open up the field. They initially didn't fall for it which was why we kept going back to the draw.
  19. I feel like diggs and Allen had an average day. There's gotta be someone on the O line that had a career day with how clean the pocket was. Or someone deserving on the D line that turned our run defense around after the 1st quarter. Can we give a game ball to the officials for sticking to their principles and not calling the mugging of Addison?
  20. I haven't read the Pats forum, but generally I'd agree with this. They are barren of talent and were heading down with or without Brady. It's why he got out. Granted, they'd be a better team with Brady, but it's not like he'd make that team a contender.
