  1. Thanks. Another guy I considered was Joe Doyle, but, while he is young with upside, he’s coming in even below Araiza for me if they wanted to go the ”young guy” route (which clearly they didn’t). Doyle is a complete unknown. At least with Araiza there is some familiarity since he was drafted here, been through an offseason working with Bass, and he won the job in camp before his release.
  2. Edit: Though, I do agree with you but this is a sensitive subject ‘round here. Guy is a total delta bravo with his constant schtick.
  3. Good question. Obviously, pickings are slim this time of year, but I may have considered Andy Lee or a recently retired Brett Kern. Both are old and washed, but have far more bonafides than Haack. If all we are concerned with is holding they should be more than capable, while also offering a slightly better upside in the actual punting department. Either are someone we can trust with big game experience. If we were looking for a slightly younger guy who has experience kicking in other cold markets like GB or CHI, maybe consider Pat O’Donnell. Probably not a helluva lot better than Haack, but, hell, we already have seen Haack kick here with mixed results. If you’re looking for the wild card, then, as others have suggested, you could bring back Araiza. While there is tremendous potential there, I understand why they didn’t go this direction. They know him, but it’s been a while and not the best timing to get him reacclimated. More of an offseason consideration than now. I’m not saying any of the above are ace ideas. Not many of those in January, but I was happy to move on from Haack the first time. I’m hoping Martin is active as best case. Again, I’m like you said in a previous post - hopefully we never punt in this game because we are scoring regularly. In which case, Haack’s holding skills will be on full display and clearly the safest route. In the event he’s punting deep in our end, I’m concerned with a block or duck leading to easy points, both of which he’s had concerns with in the past.
  4. All fair points that I acknowledge. In their mind, making the best of a bad situation. My true hope is that they shut Martin down for the week and let Haack wear himself out in practice getting reacclimated, then Martin is able to be active come game day. I’m not overly optimistic on that though. Hammies can be really tricky.
  5. 25 years? Is that it? 🙇😂 Pretty sure I never said anything about a FG being less important than a punt. In fact, my original response to your post acknowledges the importance of holding. Apparently, what you can’t comprehend is that he is also a punter too (that is his listed position after all) who just so happens to be terrible at it. I hope I’m wrong when (not IF) he comes out to punt and he booms the ***** out of it. Odds aren’t great he does. Enjoy the game.
  6. When healthy…no question. But not with one arm dangling and unusable (see Jordan Philips last year).
  7. Ok. This is clearly a circular conversation going nowhere, so I’ll get off this merry-go-round. The guy is terrible. Sorry you don’t remember that. Hoping Sam Martin is ok to go and this is a moot point.
  8. I’m with you. All for no punts too, but Chiefs D isn’t a bunch of schlubs. With our potentially weakened D, that field position could be really valuable.
  9. Yes…really. I guess he’s some sort of elite holder which obviously IS important, but have you seen him punt in Highmark? Weather of any sort has not been kind to him. He stinks. We can all say that we hope he never has to punt because we are scoring so much, but the reality is he’s going to be relied on at some point to hit a few punts. Maybe even deep in our territory to flip the field. That field position from a duck or mishit could be the difference in the game. Reminds me of kickoff specialist Jordan Gay. Now, holding specialist Matt Haack.
  10. Yeah…really no great options with officials but those are two I could’ve tolerated.
  11. Was really hoping we wouldn’t draw Hochuli (or Land Clark). Both are terrible. Would’ve preferred Vinovich or Hussey.
  12. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/39316577/dolphins-gm-says-contract-talks-tua-tagovailoa-pick-up Love this!
  13. Love how we came out and matched their physicality and played our game.
  14. Let’s gooo!!! But…who do we have left to play defense next week?
  15. I don’t trust Bass right now. Do we really have a kicker and punter problem?
