That is a valid comparison at this point I think. Peterman was a guy that was projected to go in round 2-3 and ended up dropping. I think Finley is a similar player but if he nails the process leading up to the draft, you could see him being picked much higher than expected

I agree with you that they have been more meticulous than "throwing them to the wolves" haha but putting Zay and especially White in huge positions as rookies shows the confidence he has in his draft picks. Putting a rookie Dawkins at LT has been a bold move but I think he's done well with it. Surely he needs to improve but he hasn't been an absolute horror at the position. Would like to see more Milano this week against Alvin Kamara. He's Brees' new toy and I think Milano is the only linebacker/safety that has a chance to stay with him in coverage this week.

I agree, a lot of talent will look to a different sport but the NFL has money in it and I think the poor athletes will always be there to will out NFL rosters.

If the players flash like Milano has in a few games...why not let them learn and maybe they'll learn to play like that more consistently? I applaud this coaching staff for throwing White and Zay out to the wolves and letting them compete and learn. I think Milano and Dawkins should get some more time to prove they can play at a high level as well.

I one hundred percent agree with you and he's been a growing on me as I've watched more of him. He has that NC State team along with Bradley Chubb on defense playing some great football. They've played hard in every game. I think Finley could be a late riser in the process similar to Trubinsky last year but maybe not as high. He just is the commander on that offense and doesn't do anything poorly. I'd be happy with him

I see McDermott giving a few individual talks to certain players including the leaders on the team and then addressing the team as a whole to kick some ash in the second half. Or maybe it's just him clapping???

In our remaining schedule, we face some very good QBs, Brees this sunday is the first one. Milano didn't see much of the field on TNF and honesly, I think that was a big mistake. Humber while making a few nice tackles was lost at times and looked slow. Why not let the young buck with fresh legs play and learn more down the stretch. I think if he sees a lot of the field down the stretch of this season, he will blossom into a starter for next season where he could be standing next to one or two new linebackers depending on what they do this offseason. I really think we missed him in the Jets game and would like to see if he will be given the chance to rise to the occasion against a HOF such as Drew Brees. Zay Jones has shown a lot of progression through his playing time, why not let Milano develop as well? Missing Zay Jones for sunday will hurt. He seems to finally have clicked with Taylor being on of the few bright spots on TNF. If his injury checks out moving forward, I expect him to be more productive in the upcoming big games that we have. Dion Dawkins has filled in for the injury-plagued Glenn at left tackle a few times this season already so this isn't new to him. He has a tough matchup against a much improved Saints defensive line. I hope even when Glenn comes back, he is given the opportunity at RT. Mills playing well lasted about 1 game. Tre'Davious White is gonna keep playing number one CB and absolutely locking it down as he gets more experience against these top CBs. He will be challenged by some HOFers including Brees, Brady and at the very least a very good Philip Rivers. Alex Smith, who is a name in the MVP hat is also on the schedule. His confidence and accountability has been pro bowl like this season and I think that attitude will only help him succeed moving forward. These rookies will be in some important positions Sunday, hopefully they continue to play well and get better. I think this draft class and the short sample size we've seen from them has a lot of potential to have a lot of starters and contributors coming out of it. Sunday is a test but it's about time the Buffalo Bills start hitting on some solid drafts and CIRCLING THE WAGONS AGAIN!!!!

As far as WR goes, if they go that direction, I LOVE Anthony Miller as sort of a utility player. I think with Kyle Williams age and the trading of Dareus, DT is a much bigger need than DE. If we get better DT play, I'm sure it will help Hughes/Lawson and whoever else they have next year. I like Freeman but I actually agree with you. However, I like him as a bigger back and don't mind him running a little slower. With shady as the lightning, he could become the thunder. It will come down to how Tyrod and the rest of the that offense plays the rest of the year with a new toy in Benjamin. Taylor has played well this year and if they make the playoffs or come really close to it, I could see them passing on one this year.

I am a draft nerd. I like looking at the potential fit of young players on our team. You'll notice that all the players I have chosen in the mock are players that are seniors with experience starting multiple years at the college level. It is not solely big named schools as this front office showed that they are willing to dip into the less known programs like Zay Jones who's from the East Carolina Pirates. These players have excelled and gotten better in their time in college. Some of them could be picked higher than I chose them if they kill the combine and interview process. I hope you enjoy the read. 1st DT Maurice Hurst, Michigan 6’2” 280 The senior at the Blue has gotten better each season of his college career yet showing consistent production throughout. He’s played a lot in more of a rotation role the last three years and wreaked havoc as a pass rusher. Posting 3 sacks his sophomore year, 5 sacks his junior year and 4 sacks through 9 games so far in his senior year, the smaller defensive tackle relies on his quick burst to reach the quarterback. His quickness and smaller size draw comparisons to Aaron Donald who came out a few years ago. The senior has made 40 total tackles through just 9 games proving he can effect more than just the pass. His quickness closes the holes fast and leave no space for the runner to go. Averaging 4.4 tackles per game this year is pretty darn good for a defensive tackle. 1st LB Tegray Scales, Indiana 6’0” 230 I’m a in love with the potential a Tegray scales would have in the middle of McDermott’s defense. I think he would be a very productive pick and be a weapon for the defense. Tegray Scales is a smaller linebacker but is all over the field. He makes plays in the run game, rushing the passer and can cover downfield and pick off a few passes. To me, he is a true triple threat defender who is fast, a four year starter and is just a flat out tackling machine. In 2016, he posted 125 tackles, 24 tackles for loss and 7 sacks. He’s had 7 career interceptions to go along with 16 sacks. He’s had another solid season so far in his senior year. I think he could play any linebacker position in McDermott’s system and will shine. 2nd OG/C Billy Price, Ohio State 6'3" 300 With old man time knocking at the door of Incognito and soon Eric Wood, a future replacement is needed. He could fill in at RG as well. McDermott loves guys with high character and have experience in college. The four year senior has seen plenty of time on the OSU offensive line. I also like the Senior from UTEP Will Hernandez but I personally have him sneaking into the end of the first round to a team like the Seahawks. Would love him here if he fell. 2nd OG/OT Cody O'connell, Washington State 6'8" 370 I am giddy by just writing about this guy. If there was every a comparison you could make between a human and a brick wall, this is your guy. He excels in pass blocking allowing only one sack in his junior season. Unsure why he isn't more recognized but I think at the senior bowl and at the combine his stock will rise a lot. He has played mostly LG in college and I think that could be a good spot for him but I also think he has the mobility and power to play RT. That turnstile needs to be fixed and fast. These two selections would make our aging offensive line less of a concern moving forward. Having 3 youngsters not even including John Miller who seems to be in the doghouse would be exciting for an offensive line that needs an infusion of young talent that can develop next to the aging veterans. 3rd RB Royce Freeman, Oregon 6’0” 230 In a rich running back class, some names will be lost in the shuffle and fall to the middle rounds. Freeman, a highly productive senior for the Ducks might not last much further than this point though. He is a deceptive running back with his speed and power. Would be a nice running partner next to Mccoy and perhaps his eventual replacement. I think they are okay with taking Freeman in the third, he's been a solid back and quite consistent in his production throughout his college career. 4th CB Danny Johnson, Southern 5’9” 185 I chose Johnson because he's got great closing speed that will help him in the zone defense that we run. But I think corner will be addressed in the middle rounds, especially if Johnson and Gaines remain on the team moving forward. Could see some big name corner from a big school drop and be picked by Buffalo here. Tony Brown for Alabama comes to mind but I expect a corner here in a deep class of defensive backs. This would give us 4 solid corners including two really young ones. 5th S Siran Neal, Jacksonville State 6’1” 205 Overlooked because he plays at a small school but I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes a riser. Great size for the position and has some versatility as he's lined up at corner as well. I think Buffalo will look for safety depth later in the draft. I think he would do really well in McDermott's system. He ultimately could go higher than this with a nice showing at the senior bowl and the combine. 5th LB Keishawn Bierria, Washington, 6’1” 225 The forgotten talent next to Azeem Victor, Keishawn is another smaller linebacker who is fast enough to be a disruptive player. He's been prodcutive on the loaded Washington defense. Why not add another young fast linebacker to the depth chart when you have a guy like McDermott as your coach? Again, he could ultimately go higher with a solid showing at the senior bowl and the combine but I have him falling here due to his lack of size and maybe cuz I just want him to fall into Buffalo's lap. This is another Milano type pick. This would give the Bills a rejuvenated linebacker core with Scales, Bierria, Neal could play in the box if eventually asked to and Milano moving forward. I also love: WR Anthony Miller, Memphis 5’11” 190 Benjamin and Clay are solid weapons for Tyrod along with an aging Mccoy and the improving Zay Jones but the Bills could use a speed threat that can give Tyrod some deep ball tosses that we’ve been missing this year. Miller with the ball is just a playmaker. This pick is like a Percy Harvin type pick. He can be used in a few trick run plays, screens or throwing it down the field. He could also be the future returner for the Bills. He could end up rising up into the late first round but if Buffalo were to take him, I think he'd have to make it to the second round as I just see a bigger need at other positions as of now. His speed, confidence and the sheer competitor in him should make this an easy pick for Buffalo if they decide to go this direction. S Godwin Igwebuike He's not the most physically gifted player, but he is a football player first and foremost. He is the leader of that team as a fifth year senior and plays with a love for the game we all love to see. I passed on him because I think some team will reach for him and while getting a solid player, we have other pressing needs early in the draft. Certainly a possibility in my opinion though. I passed on a QB in this draft because I believe Tyrod with more talent around him in Benjamin, a few new offensive lineman and a runningback in this draft would provide a boost to his play. I think solidifying the team around him will be the best option to this team's success moving forward. If he turns in a down year next year, we can draft a QB and throw him into a better situation than we have right now. To go along with this draft class, I would sign DT Star Lotulelei who is familiar with McDermott's system and produced well in it. Star next to the rookie Hurst and possibly bringing back Kyle at a reduced contract to rotate in with these guys would turn that group around. I think Adolphus Washington's play down the stretch will dictate whether or not he is on the team next year. I have hope for him. I passed on a DE as well because I think with new DT's both Hughes and Lawson will increase their production. Eddie Yarbrough and possibly Alexander or maybe another low profile free agent DE could fill out the rotation. If the group doesn't do well, DE could be a high pick in the 2019 draft that has a lot of talented defensive players projected to be available. I completely agree with you

Agreed, I think now that Benjamin is aboard, offensive line should be addressed before wide receiver in the draft. Both our lines haven't played well this year and are aging.

I am open-minded as well but Mayfield has been reported to be only 5'11" not even 6'1" like most websites jack him up to be. For a pocket passer, this is a huge obstacle once reaching the NFL where there are much bigger and faster players at all positions than there are in college. While he has played extremely productively and shown the leadership to be a franchise QB, his height is a big concern for me. Not many QBs can overcome being so short. If he truly is that short, I think he will have a difficult time throwing over defensive lineman who are taught to jump and put their hands up to deflect passes. I love the way Mayfield plays but this is a concern to me. Who knows...

While he does have a lot of potential, he will not be highly regarded because of the system he runs. Not taking a snap under center and running an offense that is 90% 2 second short throws on first reads doesn't make me jump in excitement. He can make some great throws but due to the system he runs, he hasn't been truly challenged. Can he do a 5 step drop and wait for routes to develop moving between reads and then throw a dart downfield into a tight window? Those are the plays I'm looking for.

I doubt that Buffalo would be looking for another big wide receiver now that they have Benjamin. I think they'll be looking for a guy with speed to stretch the field. Like Anthony Miller who is a highly productive Senior from Memphis. Can be our kick returner, used on the outside or inside at wide out and just needs to get some touches in space to make some magic happen. True competitor. Truly love the way Scales plays. I agree, if he smashes the combine like I expect him to, he may not be there. He could be a riser like Haasan Riddick was last year when Arizona took him in the top 15. He's everywhere on the field. If they have the opportunity to grab him, I think McDermott would be running to the stage.

See the thing is, he has all of the tools to be successful. And yes his team has played so terrible that he's tried to overcompensate for the lack of talent he has around him. His poor play is from trying to do too much with nothing. That's hard to do. But if you honestly look through a lot of his tape, he makes some exceptional plays and he had a game winning drive a few weeks ago. The traits are there, he just needs to play on a team that has a guy or two that can play with him. There's a reason he's widely considered a first round pick and why scouts love him. The interview and combine process will be huge for all of these QBs but he can really cement his stock and show off his cannon of an arm. If he looks coach-able...why not? With Mayfield, I see a guy who may be more talented than some of the other QBs but I think his ceiling is quite low. He's maybe 6'0" in heels and his off the field issues could turn him away from McDermott. We shall see.

He's got a noodle compared to Favre. But almost everyone does compared to him so...I just prefer Josh Allen's height, arm strength (actually comparable to Favre as he throws heaters through small windows. If you really dive into the tape, you see some really great things from Allen and just how terrible his supporting cast is. If Mayfield doesn't have the best tight end in college football and all the other support he has on that Oklahoma team...he's not even considered a draft pick. Josh Allen is still considered a high pick with scarecrows for lineman. That's just my opinion though.

Tegray Scales isn't as talked about as he should be. Here is a linebacker that is a true triple threat linebacker, exactly what McDermott likes. Scales is a senior and has started all four years at Indiana. Scales plays at the middle linebacker spot for the Hoosiers and he plays it well. Scales recorded 125 total tackles last year with a stifling 24 TFL, 7 sacks and an INT. He has been one of the most consistent players in college football playing well in all four years. He has had season totals as high as 125 for tackles, 24 for TFL, 3 for INTs and 7 for sacks. He's shown his ability to shed blocks even for being undersized at only 6'0" 230 as a linebacker. He finds ways to clog lanes in the running game and is effective and fast enough in coverage. He has 7 career INTs. Scales is having a nice senior season to add to his productive college career with 76 tackles, 10.5 TFL, 5 sacks and 1 INT through 9 games. We all know McDermott's love for fast linebackers who can be a force in a few different areas on the defense, Tegray Scales is too McDermott to not be in almost every mock draft leading up to the draft. As of now, Scales is a somewhat known commodity but I believe he will burst on the seen at the combine and show just how athletic he really is. If he makes it to us with one of our first round picks, I wouldn't be surprised if McDermott doesn't clap for a week after the pick. With the need of some athleticism and youth on the linebacker spot that will have a few free agents this spring, I think this would be a no-brainer pick.

I think Syracuse is heading in the right direction. They haven't been blown out one game this year. Honestly, that's a step forward. Despite being 4-5 they've been in every game including the ones against ranked opponents. I think in a few more years, they could be back in some bowl games. Beating Clemson should be a confidence booster for this coaching staff.

I think this is something we need. A safety that can play in the box. Carolina drafted Shaq Thompson a few years ago to be that in the box safety that can cover runningbacks and tight ends. You're absolutely right, keep him where he does best...playing that free safety playmaking position
