It was the day after Nance's mother passed away and he was wondering the night before if he should even do the game but decided to go ahead with it. He stated that the Bills staff and stadium crew all came to him and showed their sympathies to him and Bills fans donated to an alzheimer's foundation that he started for his dad and donated lots of money with a message saying "Bills Mafia. John Gruden won a Super Bowl with Brad Johnson, Brian Billick won with Trent Dilfer, Lovie Smith got Rex Grossman to a Super Bowl. John Fox got Jake Delhomme to a Super Bowl.
