Through their first 3 NFL starts, Josh Allen has almost the same stat line as Jared Goff had. Couple different way to look at it. For starters, with the way the Rams revamped their WR ranks last year and the Baltimore Ravens restocked this year it shows that you can surround a young QB with playmakers in 1 off season. I'm hoping this is the plan going forward for Beane. Second, Josh Allen was looked at as (aside from Jackson) the QB in the draft that needed rhe most work. So what do we do? We hand a raw rookie QB to a defensive minded HC, an OC that has had zero success in the NFL and a QB coach that has spent the majority of his career coaching WRs. Then we compound that by having zero experienced QBs on the roster. Rosen has credited Bradford in helping get him ready. Darnold has been vocal about McCown helping him. Allen has Nate Peterman as a sounding board. Right now, Allen is set up to fail despite his raw physical skills. If you draft a QB that needs work you need to surround him with people qualified to get the most out of him.

I think if we would have won this game, Beane makes a move for a WR. Much like last year where he realized we were,winning games, could make a run and traded,for KB. Just my opinion, but I'd say Beane and McD have to feel like, already 1-3, new guys would take a bit to get up to speed. Might as well save the money.

Last well Allen ran early and often and it seemed to charge the,offense. This week he seems to be trying to stay in a pocket he doesn't trust and make plays with his arm. My bet is we see some QB runs early in our 1st possession in the 2nd half. Let Josh be Josh

That's actually a really good article. Thanks for that, Hap. What worries me about him being distracted by the contract year stuff is that once he gets that contract, how will that affect his mindset? Is he paid so now he doesn't worry about how he practices/plays at all? Or is he the kind of guy that lo9ks at the contract and says well, now I have to earn it. Could Also be counter productive including incentives for a guy like this as well. Instead of focusing on what's good for team, he's worrying about meeting personal milestones to get paid. In the end, McD and Beane know him on a personal level and know what makes him tick and they have known him for a while. We just don't.

I have this sick feeling that over the last half of the season KB is going to do ok, Beane is going to extend him to big bucks and KB will never feel the need to play hard again.
