  1. Honestly with McCown you get a guy that can play if needed and is a heck of an asset in the QB room from what I understand. He would be ideal if we get a guy we want to make meaningful starts this season.
  2. Full agreement with the attitude. That's why I quantified what I said with "QB selected too early and flamed out" part. When people say "Next Ryan Leaf" it can mean a lot of different things to people. Just attitude relates? Just highly touted and never panned out? The OP was somewhat vague about which. When it comes to just attitude or lazyness type stuff, I honestly don't see any of the 6 being like that. I actually think that they all have reasons to point at and say "He's going to have a chip on his shoulder and try and prove people wrong"
  3. Choices bolded above. I do think they lure Kyle back for one final season. I think Thomas is brought back because of his experience and special teams play. Cadet could be a Swiss Army Knife type in Daboll's offense. Can also help on special teams. Preston Brown I do think will be retained if possible. I would rather upgrade him but I think McDermott brings him back unless he gets an outrageous offer in FA.
  4. Literally everything you have said is your own personal hunch. However here is an absolute fact. McDermott and Beane have a LOT more at stake over who plays QB and who is drafted than you or I do. If they are going to stake their jobs on a certain QB panning out...so be it. If they are wrong, they will be gone. If they are right they will be Buffalo sports legends until the day they leave this Earth. We have, however seen that not making a decision is a decision in and of itself. That's how you end up with Kyle Orton sliding short of a first down. Or Brian Brohm. Or Levi Brown. Or Trent Edwards. They need to do their homework and make...NOT A HUNCH but an educated and informed decision.
  5. If by "Ryan Leaf" you mean QB that will be selected way too high and flame out...his name is Mason Rudolph. He has a Christian Ponder career path at best in my opinion. I can see Josh Allen going either way. If he goes to the right situation and can sit behind a quality QB for a couple years with a good staff to teach him, he could be great. The Giants with Shurmer and Eli would be awesome for him. If he is expected to start right away I can see him flaming out.
  6. That was about as accurate an article I've ever seen written. Well played.
  7. I am a guy that says we have too many holes to fill. I do think that filling the team with lower cost high potential draftees is a great way to build a team to compete for the long haul. I also freely acknowledge that there is more than 1 way to build a football team and really no 1 way is guaranteed to be successful or fail. That being said, if Beane moves up to grab the guy he wants...good! If he moves to 2 and grabs his guy...awesome. One less hole to fill. 8 for Mayfield? Awesome! Whatever the plan is I fully support. We do still have FA to fill some of the holes and hey, just checked and there is another draft next year to fill even more. Whatever happens, whatever we give up or whatever we keep I think the one thing most can agree on is that it is necessary that the Buffalo Bills leave draft weekend with the QB of the future.
  8. Goff would have been a bust after 1 year in your eyes too then, right? Give Trubisky time...and talent around him. Watson I'd say the jury is definitely still out on. He was great at first...so was RGIII. Then...injury. Let's see who he is coming back and with a bit more time in the league.
  9. SMART organizations don't give money to Mike Glennon to play football. They need to move up. There is no question about that. The question isn't if they will...but how far? 2 or 3 for Rosen? 8 for Mayfield? 15-17 for Jackson? After trading Taylor they can't afford to walk out of draft weekend without a potential franchise QB. As you said they are smart men...they know this.
  10. Pretty darn good deal for a 30 year old coming off a major injury. No agent needed.
  11. Totally from left field here and nothing to suggest it, but I'm going with McCown. I think he would do nicely in an E-P style offense. He's decent but no one that is going to take the job and hold it for 16 games. At some point the rookie will beat him out. I've read that he's an excellent mentor, he was even offered the Cleveland QB coach last year before signing with the Jets. The extra ability to help coach guys up could be invaluable with an inexperienced QB coach in Culley.
  12. Wasn't directed at you. Looking back at some of the comments with the benefit of hindsight is hysterical. It's actually a fun read now.
  13. Over-6 is what I'm thinking Over- I say he's around 4.45 and regrets not running at combine Under-Only takes 1 team to overpay, but I think his market isn't going to be as hot as people imagine Over-3 deserve it...but trades push it to 4.
  14. Where is Buffalo Bills Detective when we need him? Someone get him on the....Case
  15. 2018-nfl-draft-order-and-needs-for-every-team This is off the NFL draft page. I would tend to believe them then some obscure article about a player that someone thinks is doing OK. 21. Buffalo Bills Record: 9-7 (.492) Top needs: QB, OL, DT The skinny: With two first-round picks, the Billshave the firepower to move up in the draft and get their QB if they so choose. They will have to replace C Eric Wood as he steps away from the game due to injury, but the Bills could be looking for help across the O-line. The Bills will likely address DT with at least one pick. From the same draft page. Says we need OL. Means we should hang onto OL if we can. also note that they make it a point to say we need to replace Wood. Seems like they don't know we have a capable in-house replacement. Just like the article I posted, your article is written from the perspective of one person. The Browns do need upgrades and they may want a player. But thinking that Glenn would interest them the same amount as a team like the Giants is just plain ignorant. Cleveland may feel like they want to upgrade a different place and request a guy that is more needed. Maybe they ask for Lawson, maybe Hughes. Who knows. My original point is almost every "trade up" throws Glenn in there without any thought as to if the other team would even want him.
  16. Not even that long. Era of Nate ends when we get a FA QB next week. Unless it's Glennon.
  17. For me I look at it like this. Foles Or Keenum+a 2nd rounder That second rounder is good trade fodder for a move up. I think you would end up with about the same productivity between the 2 QBs in my opinion. In this case I'd take Keenum and the 2nd.
  18. https://dawgpounddaily.com/2017/10/12/cleveland-browns-the-quiet-emergence-of-shon-coleman/ They are very happy with their RT. And again, if Thomas doesn't retire they have no need (which means Glenn adds zero value to a trade for the Browns.) Yes, they have a lot to upgrade, so why upgrade at a spot that is solid? Glenn to the Giants- I get that thought. It's a need for them.
  19. I really can't see it. If we go with a rookie pick I think (and just my own speculating here) they will want SOMEONE on the roster that has experience in the NFL as a starter. A McCown, a Bradford or such. I just can't see guys as calculated as McDermott and Beane rolling with 3 inexperienced QBs.
  20. Your key is for the wrong door. Unless Joe Thomas retired (and the Browns said they do expect he's back) they don't need an OT. Shon Coleman looks decent and was improving at lot from what I hear. Just a knee jerk reaction to throw Glenn in any and every trade to move up imo.
  21. All kidding aside...why is Glenn so disliked/disrespected by Bills fans? Im well aware of the predraft rumor Nix started but the whole first part of his career people wanted to kick him inside, make him play guard or over to RT. Then when we finally get a kid that can play LT or RT people insist he be traded. Cordy Glenn (when healthy) is an extremely good lineman. He makes the team better when he plays. If he's healthy enough to play it needs to be for Buffalo. If he's not healthy enough to play no one is going to take his salary anyways. I hope he's healthy, he stays and we reap the benefits of him playing here.
  22. I agree. Schmidt left too many plays on the field. He held the ball way too long before he got rid of it. Looked confused at times. Blake freaking Bortles outplayed him. How pathetic is that? And speaking of Bortles...did you know all that scrambling he did...not ONCE did Schmidt tackle him...or suggest putting a spy on him. He obviously needs to go.
  23. I'd rather give up 2 firsts for Tannehill then have Cutler. And I don't want to give up those 2 firsts for Tannehill. Also, I don't want Tannehill.
