This guy ia foolish but youre juat as foolish if you think both sides dont have idiots to this level.

Most of your points here are hyperbolic. Saffold may be old, I get that, but he has been mainly healthy for the better part of the last 6 seasons. Morse's "concussion issues" have forced him to miss one game due to injury since he signed here. Bates, may not have started more than 4 games in an NFL season, but that didnt stop the Bills from paying him starting guard money. Beyond that he helped solidify a Oline that played pretty good football down the back stretch of last season, and into the playoffs. Everyone you mentioned above was just signed or extended by the Bills. The Bills currently have 5 guys on the roster who will be competing for the swing position, each of them outside of Jacob Capra has started multiple games in the league and multiple positions along the offensive line whether it be C/G, or G/T, all of them have position flexibility. Herbig is a guard with no position flexibility. Its fine if you think the guys they have competing stink, I dont disagree in some situations. If I never had to see Cody Ford play another game for the Bills I will be happy, but Guard is not the Roster Hole that people have made it out to be leading up to and post draft. But if I am going to spend money on a guard at this point, when the Bills already have 9 on the roster, I am bringing back Daryl Williams on a 1 year deal. That said, thats why I dont understand the obsession with bringing in another guard.

Tannehill is a fine NFL QB for teams that dont have an elite QB. But if you have Tannehill, Derek Carr or Kirk Cousins as your QB you better be looking under every stone to find a guy with elite talent because you are never winning a Super Bowl with those type of guys. The downside of that, beyond not having a real chance to win a superbowl, is that they are just good enough to keep you out of the top 5 of the draft where those elite guys (though rarely) are usually found. Bottom line in the NFL, and I've said this before about other teams, is if you dont have a top 10 QB you dont have a legitimate chance beyond a lot of luck to win a Super Bowl anymore. Does it happen, yes, but not often enough to build your team around a average QB, a good running game, and a good defense. Not for nothing, if I were Willis I am not sure I'd be knocking down Tannehill's door to learn from him anyways. A lot of what Willis needs can be learned from observation alone. Study habits, and workout habits of an NFL QB can be gleaned from watching the guy.

Jerry being Jerry reveals top of draft board
thenorthremembers replied to CorkScrewHill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ive never understood why seeing someones draft board after guys have been drafted matters much in the long term. -
What is the obsession with adding guards to this team? They have nine going into camp. Maybe they add another guy here or there, but highly doubt they are looking to add another swing guard or starter right now.

Most millionaires and billionaires were failures in something else before they hit the jackpot with what made them their money. I think Fox Sports technically owns USFL, so as a multi billion dollar publicly traded company they will just light money on fire, and cancel the league. Think of it as a television production, they cancel those all the time. The only way a spring league will ever work is if it eventually functions as a feeder league for the NFL. I am not sure if you've heard of Overtime Elite (OTE) in basketball but thats starting to pick up steam as a feeder league for the NBA. They pay the kids, and then allow them to make profit off of their NIL, which is exactly why the NCAA finally gave in on the NIL deal. OTE pays their players 100k a year. If they dont get a pro contract when their pro eligibility starts the league also pays them 100k to attend the college they want to go to. OTE just signed the top college recruit of the 2024 class, so the money is enough to get the kids to bypass school. The XFL is looking to go to this model for football players. I think its pretty genius, and could work if they dont go bankrupt before they sign their 1st blue chip high school kid. I am excited to see if that model works in football.

This was exactly my sentiment when the league first started. NBA Playoffs and the beginning of baseball is a terrible time to start a new league. Should have started at the end of May, and should have all games available on youtube with a few of the games available on the TV contract. Makes sense though, the league owner loves to throw away money on upstart football leagues.

Are we the slowest team in the league?
thenorthremembers replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall
Timed speed is not the same as game speed. Being bad at YAC is as much on the QB style as it is the wideouts. Lots of scramble drills with late passes to the sidelines. Not a lot of balls thrown to the wideouts in stride. Still one of the best teams in the league. You dont get style points for timed speed and YAC. Those stats are for the media and fans. Just win, I dont care how. -
Had everything to do with the Quarterback class. The guys were small, underproduced in college and had weak arms. Teams will overdraft for production or tools, some of these guys had neither.

Rd 3, Pick 89 (25): LB Terrell Bernard, Baylor
thenorthremembers replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Gotta fill out the roster. People are forgetting that we dont need a 3rd round pick to "start off the bus" anymore. If the guy can play outside where Klein was and become a ST Ace where we dont have to sign Taiwan Jones and Matakevich type players who give you nothing outside of teams, than I say its a great pick. If he doesnt pan out he will be like 60% of draft picks. Its all a crap shoot but I am going to go ahead and trust our front office, theyve earned that from me. Even if Joe Marino hates the pick. -
Baker is an above average starter in the league. He is just aa good as Derek Carr. Too many bad coaches year after year. Baker would do well in that division. Still cant shake his "when I see a white DB on the other team I get happy comment" guys a jerk.

NFL Draft 2022 Second & Third Round Discussion Thread
thenorthremembers replied to UKBillFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
5'11 220 linebacker who ran a 4.72 40 and is too small to play the position he played in college in the NFL. -
Same ole story with the Jets. Stop me if you've heard this one April- "Joe Douglas and the Jets are stocked with 1st round picks to bolster their roster and make waves in the AFC East." November- "The Jets are officially out of playoff contention. Joe Douglas is on the hot seat" I remember when that was the Bills story every year too.

Adds two things we were missing at CB, size and speed. Good enough for me. Bills continue to hate 4th round picks.

You hate to see it

Had the same feeling. Other than this silly dream I have of somehow getting Jameson Williams, its all icing on the cake to me. Feels good to have the draft not be the best part of the season.

Fully expect the team to move up or out of the pick. Corner two on this team has never been a position where they've thrown premium picks or big money at. Dont expect them to change now. This team does well because they dont pick for need. If the pick is a runningback I assume they move back. That said, I can for sure see them moving up a few picks for an elite playmaker. Thats it thats the rumor.

Cam Newton injured his AC Joint pushing a guy out of bounds. His injury, came on a play that was as close as non contact as a football play can be. I understand your point, yes you want to protect Josh but you also dont want to neuter him. You cant expect the guy to play scared and have the same magic, its a little pointless. I understand wanting to be proactive, but to live in fear of some career altering injury just because a player with a similar build and running skillset injured his AC joint trying to push a player out of bounds is a little silly IMHO.
