  1. 100% hatred is expressing that I believe he will pay off as a receiver, but not so much as a rusher? I hate where he was selected due a lack of certain attributes associated with effective running backs relied on to keep offenses moving through ground attack. I wasn't saying that Cook would get in the way of the Bills winning a Super Bowl, I was expressing that his selection in the 2nd rd. makes it unlikely that the Bills would select an RB in the 1st rd. next year. 😉
  2. Or maybe they just didn't use the 1st pick on Cook because he didn't have a 1st rd. grade on him.
  3. SB winner or not, the Cook pick will likely be what stands in the way of it happening. That's why I hate where he was taken so much.
  4. Okay, speed "is the only thing" on my mind concerning my dislike of where Cook was picked, that still doesn't explain where you came away with me wanting Breece Hall to be drafted. I wanted the org. to hold off on drafting an RB high until next year's draft where at least two legit, 1st rd. talents might declare.
  5. Check the draft day thread. I said many on this board thought Hall was a 1st rd. talent, myself not included. What the hell did you even read? Lol
  6. Would that help in tricking my eyes into seeing Cook as the game-breaker that much of the board sees him as? Cook will be useful, but I still anticipate people jumping ship once they realize that Singletary is still our biggest threat to break a game open from the ground.
  7. You like many in here thought Breece Hall was going 1st rd, probably thought one pick higher than where C. Johnson was selected too. So what's your point? I could see top-notch speed in any C. Johnson highlight reel, college or professional; I have to force myself to see James Cook's game-changing speed. James Cook can be good for the Bills, he's just not the best we could have committed to at the position.
  8. I dreaded when the Bills had to face the Titans with Chris Johnson on the roster. I also did not like playing Patrick Machines knowing Tyreek Hill was in the lineup. Certain players are legitimate concerns.
  9. Chris Johnson's was 1.4...percentile is night and day difference. Neither of those guys are the standard for top-level, acceleration.
  10. Nothing, if the 40 time doesn't translate to ripping off big yardage in-game. I just don't see a back that will strike fear in defenses when I watch Cook's highlights.
  11. No, I agree he doesn't have elite breakaway speed. That and break tacklability...not very elusive either.
  12. I think Bernard may have been drafted to be the Micah Hyde of the LB crew.
  13. How do we determine that McDermott's had a breakout season?
  14. Sounds like the old-school thing to say, but it's wrong. How would McDermott even be measured as having a big year or breakout season after the Bills went 13-3 a few seasons ago? This team has been on the cusp but never completely, complete. We've needed pop in the backfield, I'm not sure James Cook is that dude, but if he is and has a crazy season where he's contributing majorly on the ground, then I think he'll be the difference maker. We of course couldn't take a backward step on defense for everything to work.
  15. James Cook runs a 4.42. I eluded to him being fast, just not an elite burner that defenses will lose sleep over. The 4.8 mention was me using an RB to beg the question regarding "blazing acceleration", a term that another poster used to describe a Cook attribute that I don't see him as having.; would a 4.8 speed RB be tagged as having "blazing acceleration" regardless of how much more quickly he hit top speed than a 4.40 speed RB? Probably not. Speed and acceleration are two separate attributes, but I'm guessing elite-level acceleration paired with 4.42 speed would allow Cook to beat defenders to angles and pull away from them regularly with ease, I don't see that happening in the clips I watch of him (this and his inability to break tackles is why I don't care for where he was selected) and believe he was assigned an attribute solely based off his 40 time, and perhaps because we've been in need of a faster RB and the poster wants to believe we have that home-run hitter in Cook. I don't believe we do.
  16. You are making things up. He gets caught from behind plenty in the highlights I've watched on him. It's rare that he even gets the opportunity to turn a carry into a foot race because he's taken to the turf so often on first contact. He'll be a nice receiving target out of the backfield, but there's no reason to begin imagining qualities that didn't show up regularly.
  17. I'll give you route-running, but what the heck is blazing acceleration? Do we notice "blazing acceleration" in a RB that has 4.8 speed? And then how do you define "suddenness"? (And please be honest) When I hear 'suddenness', I'm thinking quick change of direction; I don't see that in Cook any more than I do blazing acceleration. This is the only Beane pick since he's started making our picks that I absolutely do not like off top.
  18. I don't agree that he runs the ball very well, that's why I don't think he should've been drafted in the 2nd. He didn't need to be an every down work-horse, I just needed to see other qualities traditionally associated with really good RBs. I literally don't see anything outside of speed and pass-catching, and it isn't even blazing speed.
  19. I did not; I didn't see any RB in this draft as having a 1st rd grade. I was hopeful that the RB position would be addressed in next year's draft, where at least 2 RBs that I've given a 1st Rd. grade may enter. This pick bothers me because I don't think the FO would draft 2nd and then go 1st Rd. the following year with Singletary and/or Moss still on the roster. I don't like the Cook pick, but what can ya do?
  20. Not trying to being a downer, but doesn't he go down rather easily for a RB drafted this high? After speed and pass-catching, he doesn't have anything on Devin Singletary.
