  1. I know we all want to believe anyone that says it’s not an ACL, but for the people who say “but all these Twitter docs say…” … well, they also said Allen could need Tommy John surgery (wildly rare for QB’s) and might be done for the year. My brother is a physical therapist, and to him the injury screams MCL given it was a contact injury that bent his knee inward. My brother isn’t the end all, be all, but he correctly diagnosed Allen when Twitter docs were panic trending Tommy John on Twitter.
  2. Dolphins/Jets he wasn’t injured. Dolphins we lost 100% due to injuries and heat. I’m not one to make a ton of excuses, but that is pretty clear to anyone that doesn’t root for Miami. Jets game was just our now typical post-bye malaise. Injuries on defense and we looked like we could care less for most of the game.
  3. Remember when people thought TNF would falter due to market saturation? People will literally pay for Amazon Prime to watch Cleveland vs Jacksonville in Week 9. The revenue generated by adding an extra regular season week, at expense of a preseason week, would far outweigh any worry of a watered down product.. that likely doesn’t come to fruition as the NFL simply keeps growing in popularity. 20+ game regular season with added playoff spots .. sure, I could get behind some worry. Dropping from a 3 week preseason to a 2 week preseason, in order to go to an 18 game regular season, instead of 17 games is not a worry I’d have if I’m an owner. The NFL calendar remains the same, unless they add a second bye week.. in which case you either start in late August or push back the Super Bowl a week.
  4. That’s not a fair assessment. Beane is a pretty good drafter, he just has blind spots, as does everyone. He hit on Rousseau, who looks better, with more potential, than other guys in the mid-late RD1 (Oweh and Phillips) Epenesa, I can’t really kill him for. The guy was the projected top pick entering his last college year. He didn’t have the season he wanted, but was still regarded as sliding when we took him. It was worth a shot, given his ability and our need to bring in a pass rusher with no RD1 pick. Epenesa, at least, flashes sometimes. Basham, I don’t get. I saw him at college. He was ok. Seemed destined to be a rotational DE. Furthermore, we had a deal in place to trade back unless Basham was there… ok. Reminds me of how high they were on Cody Ford… like they just secured an All-Pro. What I do think Beane needs to do religiously … mid-round WR and late-round DB every year. Davis was a hit for a 4th rounder. We’ll see what Shakir becomes. While not studs… Jackson, Hamlin, Benford etc are all fringe starters, good depth… Hamlin/Benford potentially more. Let someone else draft Day 2 pass rushers from now on …
  5. Yea.. I’ve been impressed with Cook as a RB. Not so much as a pass catcher. He’s thinking too much and doesn’t understand zones/pass-angles yet, which almost led to a turnover yesterday.
  6. Who is everybody? NFL can simply go with something like grass mandated at all fields in a new deal with owners that incudes 18 games and two bye weeks with a reduced preseason. It’s literally one extra week.
  7. Zero chance the NFL goes back to 16. The end game was always two preseason games and eighteen regular season games. This is just the process in getting there.
  8. Anybody here watch Dallas and wonder why we can’t scheme up stuff for Knox like they did their TE? Everything we run seems like it’s our guy has to win his matchup, even Knox .. whereas I watch all these other teams scheme guys open. I don’t get it. Maybe we’re all overly critical, and we do move the ball, but unless we unleash Allen to run/throw at will, everything seems like we’re playing the opp on expert level.
  9. Spencer Brown either dominates his assignment or looks like a poster from this message board out there. There is no in-between.
  10. The injuries on defense are absolutely insane. Couple that with Josh playing through an injury that should probably have him sidelined, and it’s tough to not appreciate the guts this team has. As someone pointed out yesterday, this is Ravens ‘21 level injuries. That being said, certain criticisms like roster construction at the WR position, why we took Bernard in RD3, did we trade for Hines to simply play ST’s etc.. are valid. Injuries or no injuries, watching teams convert 3rd and long over and over due to soft off coverage is going to drive any fanbase insane. I’d imagine most here would rather get beat over the top than have time consuming drives where opposing WR’s run simple slants for 15 yards due to Frazier protecting depth corners. …. After all, the QB still has to make the deep, lower percentage throw. As we saw yesterday when Goff missed an open guy late down near our 4 yard line and they then kicked a FG.. those throws aren’t gimme’s.
  11. No reason they couldn’t .. College Football starts a week before the NFL. For much of the league, southern teams/domes, adding a week to the back end would be fine.. but yea.. probably not ideal for BUF, NY, CHI, GB, CLE etc.
  12. Sounds like it was a pitch count for both White and Elam. Didnt notice White at all when he was out there, which I suppose could be a good thing. For most of the game it was just a repeat of the Dane Jackson gets roasted show.
  13. Who was trading a good OT at the deadline? Many teams don’t have two good ones to start, let alone an extra one to be trading.
  14. No. I do think 2 preseason games, 18 regular season games and 2 bye weeks is where this is going though. I’d be for it. NFL product is as good as ever, but it does seem injuries are on the rise for most teams… unless we’re just paying more attention with fantasy/popularity of the league etc.
  15. Jackson and Benford are good depth, but we desperately need Tre and Elam to take over the CB1 and CB2 spots.
  16. Primetime Cousins out there
  17. I thought it was a TD the second it left his hand. Couldn’t believe it ended up a pick. Definitely think teams are scouting us very well in the red zone. We run that so much … seemed like another one of those plays that the defense recognized what was going to happen from jump.
  18. While everyone was screaming Tommy John for Josh Allen, my brother (physical therapist) was pretty convinced it was a low grade UCL and he’d likely miss 1-4 games… but as we know, Josh is an absolute freak. He’s pretty convinced that was an MCL due to the inward bend of his knee by force. Just have to see the extent. Typically teams have an idea of if it may be an ACL by doing stability tests on the sideline. The fact “cautiously optimistic” is being reported seems like they, at least, didn’t have the typical giveaway when doing initial tests.
  19. Not really thinking there was a need for this thread. There’s been frustration, but most people have pointed out the following: Elbow injury Mid-season swoon last year WR’s not stepping up Dorsey struggling so far in his first year Allen also deserves some criticism for trying to do too much, but most here qualify that with one, or more, of the above statements.
  20. I’ve been high on Cook, but man .. he was brutal today in the pass game. Singletary is definitely the reliable one right now. No clue what the plan is with Hines.
  21. Easy to run slants when the opposition plays 20 yards off coverage
  22. Blitz. If they hit a big play, at least we get a chance at the end.
  23. Easiest plays look so difficult for us.
  24. Don’t they typically know it might be an ACL immediately by doing the stability tests on the sideline?
  25. Just give Dane Jackson a Lions jersey.
