Are these stats actually true? If so, banning these weapons is the very definition of a poster child for a political talking point.

Interesting thought but I was under the impression that if the case is successful that a convicted felon cannot run for President. No? So you’re saying Trump clearly wins the case and by doing so is catapulted into the front runner position? That’s some three dimensional chess alright.

My takeaway is completely the opposite Hawk. If anything it shows utterly stupid the labyrinth of so-called laws we’ve created for ourselves in this country. If THIS particular occurrence could get someone charged with a felony then we’ve got REAL problems. Maybe in his second term Trump can focus on cleaning up the junk drawer that we call campaign law. 😉

While I share the sentiment, I think it’s a bit too easy for all of us to simply write off that game in its entirety. I was incredibly frustrated by the offensive game plan all afternoon long. At SOME POINT you have to work through it. Change what you’re doing, move the ball, and move the chains.

While I can agree with you to a point, I have to wonder then where the Bills vaunted injury-free offense disappeared to against the Bengals.

Nobody sees how absolutely absurd this sort of prosecution is? You indict someone for making a payment of hush money of an alleged affair that pretty much NOBODY remained hush about? If anything it just shows how stupid Trump was for thinking it would be hushed. The opposition should be thanking him for wasting money that could better have been spent on a TV advertisement or campaign posters. 😂

I’m glad I’m not a college scout. I didn’t watch the entirety of either video clip but for what I saw there was a whole lot of standing around and some rather pedestrian being ‘around the ball carrier’ in a whole lot of plays.

I couldn’t agree more. The Bills defense has been built around speed at every level. Play soft and then pursue the ball. Unfortunately that strategy fails big time if tackling takes a nose dive…which for some reason (maybe injuries) it did last season. Way too many whiffs in the open field by Milano, Poyer, Edmunds and a host of cornerbacks.

The Colts were the best parallel I could find. I honestly can’t recall what if anything changed to get them past and over the Patriots with Brady back then…but you have to admit this looks an awful lot like the present Bills and the Chiefs with Mahomes. Maybe nothing changed. Maybe Manning just finally broke through. I hope Josh is talking with Peyton over this summer.

Let me write that one down.

Thanks The two teams are obviously not the same but they’re eerily similar. The original OP was based on how we as fans should think of the Bills. Not being a Colts fan I’m not sure I can say how they felt when they kept getting to a point only to lose to the Patriots year after year…but they did finally get over that hurdle, and they didn’t do it by tearing the team apart and starting over. One thing the Colts had was their infamous triplets of Manning, Harrison, and James at RB. I’m praying the Bills can find a running game to pair with Allen and Diggs. Go Bills

Did you look at my historical summary of the Colts run under Manning? It’s amazingly similar to the current Bills. They swooned one time in that run (maybe two) but ‘down’ years? Not really.

By the way…in those years the Colts coach was Tony Dungy. He was widely considered to be an ‘high character’ guy. Anybody seeing the many similarities here?

Interesting comment and I’ve seen this before. What are your thoughts on the long term evolution of the Bills defensive alignment (and the NFL as a whole). Will McD stick with two LBs or start moving to the more traditional 4-3?

Exactly! I guarantee that Beane has studied NFL history, and has looked closely at what the Colts (and others) did once they got their franchise quarterback. It’s also interesting to note that during the build up to their championship season the Colts had just lost two playoff games in a row to the Patriots before beating them in the third rematch. It all sounds VERY familiar! I cannot recall what the Colts did to finally beat their playoff nemesis. What missing piece did they add in 2006? Maybe somebody on here knows.

That’s why I looked into the history of what I consider similar teams. And the Colts appear to the closest parallel to the Bills considering they had Peyton Manning during that era. They won consistently during that but couldn’t get over the proverbial hump until Year 5 of their streak. It’s also interesting to note that they continued their regular season success for four more years after their championship season although never won it again. Starting in 1999 the Colts went: 13-3 10-6 6-10 Missed playoffs 10-6 12-4 12-4 14-2 12-4 Super Bowl champions 13-3 12-4 14-2 Lost Super Bowl 10-6 Looks pretty familiar huh?

I did a bit more research and the early 2000s Indianapolis Colts had a very similar playoff history and regular season win percentage as the current rendition of the Buffalo Bills. After being eliminated in the playoffs for four straight seasons the Colts then won the Super Bowl in 2006. So there’s hope! 👍

Thanks....I looked it up and the Steelers and Saints qualify but the Seahawks had a year in the middle of that run where they didn't make the playoffs.

With all of this I believe what you’re seeing is Beane coming to terms with their present cap situation. (Not that he didn’t already know.) He doesn’t have a ton of money to throw around and he knows he’s got more than enough holes to fill. Looks to me like they’re going to roll the dice with the guys they know, pray for less injuries next season, and use the draft to replace those that left for ‘greener’ pastures. It’s becoming clear that they are NOT in a rebuilding mode.

I’d be really curious on how many teams in the Super Bowl era have made the playoffs four straight years with an equal or better winning percentage but didn’t get to a Super Bowl. There’s gotta be someone on here who can research that.
