    Coaching has kept this team out of the playoffs the past 2 years. Way too many close games decided by blunders or lack of discipline. We don't know what we have in McDermott, but I love what I've seen so far. If he can turn this talented team into a disciplined, motivated unit that actually shows up to play each week, 10-6 or even 11-5 is possible.

    Whaley at least gets 2017. Sully is just going to have to deal with it if we make the playoffs. And we can. McDermott could be our best HC hire in a long time. Last year's draft class might have 3-4 starters this year. The Bills are a talented team heading into this season. Not sure what Sully will do once we start winning games.

    Agreed - taking a CB high certainly wouldn't shock me. Can't wait. I love the draft. It feels like the start of the season.

    I was going to post something like this - you said it better. I think Darby and Seymour could be a surprisingly great tandem. They also brought in a lot of guys to compete for depth. I'd bet a coach like McDermott can get the best out of a few. Conventional wisdom here is that we have to draft a CB high, but it's really not that urgent.

    I agree, though they can afford to make mistakes. They're definitely paying too much for a rb corps that really doesn't have a top guy. Reading their boards, fans there seem to think they got a back who can really be a 3 down player. MG is a bit overrated right now, by them and us.

    Line is a much bigger need, and the pickins at guard are much more slim. Love MG, but we overrate him a bit. He can be replaced with a late rounder, and likely without much drop off.

    I didn't say it was much. But with a draft pick, it's part of what they get. The pats didn't steal anything. We did what they do, a lot. But some here complain about everything. If this situation was reversed, we'd be idiots for overpaying a 6 carry back.

    Stealing would imply a one sided transaction. We get a 5th and cap relief. As others have said, it's the kind of thing.the pats do all the time. They already lost 3 players this year who are arguably better at their position than MG.

    I don't understand the 'same mistake' thing. Do you watch what other teams do? Good players leave good teams for other teams EVERY YEAR.

    We might care, but it wouldn't be a big deal. This board is ridiculous since the pats made that offer. We're not losing McCoy to them.

    It doesn't send a message to free agents. Look at the team that's signing MG.

    Agreed for the most part, but open to being surprised. I'm not counting on it, but Brady's decline could come sooner. Even BB seems to be considering that possibility, with his reluctance to trade jimmy. As for BB. I remember when Shula was a scary genius - until he wasn't. I will continue to hope.

    They didn't fleece us. If any other team signed MG, we wouldn't even care.

    All true, but that really reinforces how vital BB and TB are to that team. All of these moves that have everyone doing cartwheels are basically a big nothing. It's almost like the could take any roster in the nfl and still be a SB contender, as long as they have those 2 guys.

    We actually way overrate average players. Both Bills and Pats fans are talking like this was as one sided as the Herschel Walker trade. They got a decent rb and we get a draft pick.

    Pats are really stocking up on mid level rb's. Kind of a strange offseason for them - not their usual m.o.

    I'm with you on this one. When the wheels come off for Brady, a lot of these moves won't look as good.

    My message to half of the posters on this thread: Man up! The patriots have so many here so beaten down. Overpaying for a backup rb just became the equivalent of the Herschel walker trade somehow. They're not gods.
