  1. Never been to the R&L but there were a couple of dive bars on Gibson St. across from the market us market maintenance workers would sneak off to when my uncle, Redlinski, and friends would go to the R&L. Most of us were underage, I was 15/16, but had no problem getting served. This was around '77, those bars are gone now. Could have been much worse, thankfully they saved the building.
  2. I definitely would have watched but for some reason when Mookie hit that ball I was peeking through my fingers I was so nervous that whole bottom half of that inning. I started with a hundred dollar bet with a bookie and let it ride through every round of the playoffs. I am not usually a gambler and I had 400 riding on the series which was a significant amount to me at the time.
  3. I thought so. Did you grow up in the neighborhood?
  4. Is Broadway and Fillmore part of the Polonia neighborhood? I took my wife to see the Broadway Market some years ago. I hardly recognized the neighborhood, the years have not been too kind.
  5. I have been wondering that myself. I had assumed he was at Winterfell and that he would reappear in last nights show. There was a saying in my neighborhood, when someone stated something that was obvious people would look at him and say "Bill Godwin". I never knew Bill Godwin but evidently he was a master of the obvious to the point of legendary status.
  6. Broadway! My uncle managed the Broadway Market and hired me when I was just 15. Rode the Broadway bus from downtown after school every day for almost a year. Pulaski Day was a big deal there.
  7. Her itinerary, set months in advance, had her in Paris when Diana died and in London for her funeral. She just arrived in Paris 2 days ago and the first thing she did was visit Notre Dame and send us pictures. The fire is now under control.
  8. Was thinking the same thing.
  9. I pray that is not the case, that would be horrible.
  10. I would venture that it is far more likely connected to the renovation construction of the spire, but speculating about it is pointless.
  11. My mother-in-law is there right now. The last time she was in Paris Princess Diana died.
  12. Reminds me of Seinfeld, the Keith Hernandez 'magic loogie' episode.?
  13. That's why I felt pretty strongly they could come back, that team was stacked. I remember thinking about my dad rooting for the Red Sox his whole life. He had to witness Buckner's blunder but died before the 2004 victory. My dad knew Warren Spahn growing up in South Buffalo. Spahn, Williams, and Yastremski were his favorite Red Sox.
  14. I was living at the south rim of the Grand Canyon and could barely watch. Had a few hundred bucks on the Mets. When Mookie hit that dribbler right to Buckner I thought for sure it was over, when it went through his legs I jumped out of my chair and went crazy. When the Sox were down 0-3 to the Yankees I was telling people they were gonna come back and win the series. The greatest comeback in baseball I have ever seen.
  15. I didn't get a great look at it like this still picture. Definitely looks like more than just a simple spear projectile. I am not sure what it is but I have a strong feeling it will play a significant part.
  16. Arya gave Gendry a weapon design that looked like a launchable dragon glass spear, I think that will be significant at some point. My guess is it brings down the dead dragon or the Night King.
  17. The Red Sox are my other team, when they are not playing the Mets. My dad, born in 1923, was a Sox fan his whole life. Unfortunately he passed in 1999 before he ever got to see them win one. Growing up in Irish SB the Celtics and Red Sox were popular in my family and neighborhood. I guess the S Boston Irish connection. Always hated the Yankees.?
  18. Been a Mets fan my whole life, started following them in '67. I noticed you didn't tell us your favorite team.
  19. The Ha's on you, now you have to give me undeserved respect cause I'm older than you!!! So Happy Birthday but don't forget my respect.? Who is GBID that so unforgivably fuked up the math of this celebration? Where can I find him? Kidding aside, Happy Birthday. It is good to be alive. Lets keep it going.
  20. Happy Birthday Chef ? You are two months older than me. I will from here on out treat your posts with the respect I give to all you old *****. ?
  21. I had Tyrpak for homeroom part of Sophomore year I think, she had me shipped out after I kept crack in jokes about some ridiculous video she made us watch one day. She was a bit high strung and naive then and I was pretty hilarious. I never gave Miss Friedman any trouble because she was a gift from God and she loved me.????
  22. Yes. I loved them both, but Miss Friedman was hotter, far more complex and sexy imo. ? Hilarious.
  23. Freshman year I had Tyrpak and Friedman.
  24. Yes. Father Carr was awesome, but in front at the stage people definitely lit up and I was shocked but partook nonetheless. I was only a freshman and thought it was customary at Allman shows. I remember all the folks you speak of and it's amazing I happened to bring this up and you were such a central part of it. I tried to ditch the whole affair and escape on the way to it but was caught by Friedhaber. You are killing me brother. That was an incredibly special day. I remember that moment. I was literally standing next to the photographer and that was almost my view. Wow. I was to the left of him in front of the stage. Thank you for blowing my mind tonight. That was what I needed.
