The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
transplantbillsfan replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Begin by incentivizing them. It's already happening with some private businesses--just look at the NFL. But the Federal Government can also jump in to focus on areas that will really make a difference like tourism and travel. Then obviously incentivize the States, which can themselves mandate vaccines already thanks to Jacobssen vs Massachusetts in 1905. Finally ... mandate it in the public schools ... also ruled legal by the Supreme Court in 1922 where in the Unanimous Decision the Justice actually wrote "Jacobson v. Massachusetts had settled that it is within the police power of a state to provide for compulsory vaccination." We start there. -
Ty Dunne: Motor can lift Bills to super bowl

I'm late to the party here but obviously Beane and McDermott have faith in Singletary and Moss. I could see Singletary seriously improving this offseason especially as Defenses turn the focus on our passing game. Daboll might get to finally call some more balanced games offensively. -

Ignore? Stop it with your 100% or 0% crap. The fact is Rs are the problem right now by a wide margin. Focus on the biggest fixes. That's Rs. You guys are silly. Mandate the vaccine upon FDA approval... yes. You're starting to sound bitter. Are you preparing your own Exit to the comfortable Echo Chamber you also frequent? Trump was President when the vaccines were developed and approved. If you don't understand he bears most of the responsibility for the politicization of the vaccines, then you're truly lost. WTF are you even talking about???? Scientists were talking science--not politics-- about the vaccine. And they were stressing safety and efficacy of at first a potential vaccine and then an actual vaccine well before the election. And that includes Fauci. This is just sad. -

Which part of what I said there was false? I spent enough time in PPP interacting with them and watching others interact... so I would like you to claim which part was false. This is a bullchit Houdini escape act. Can you just plainly acknowledge that your accusations were flat wrong without being weakly? ?????? Once the FDA approvals go through before the end of the year, it all gets easier. Wonderful. Problem is... there are vaccinations you’re required to get by the Government that you and all those "personal choice" people have already gotten. -

Hmmm.... well first of all... I'm not really here for your entertainment. Second of all, I really don't care about them as individuals at this point, but they're good representations of a major problem with our Country as all of them fled to an echo chamber and plugged their ears to block out any outside noise. That's worthy of discussion and criticism. But... since I just bored you... I never said they were symptoms of the problem in civility and discourse because they disagree with me, did I? Can you please direct my attention to where I said that? If you can't find it... you're molding and twisting my words into something you believe I meant. That's sad. At this point, yes. Mandate vaccines. It would have been better if the jackass of a former President didn't completely hide the fact that he and his wife were vaccinated and instead lobbied for vaccinations for all Americans. If he did that, I bet that 25-30% number dwindles down to 10-20% and we get closer to getting out of this mess. 4 years of "distrust of govt" is different from "distrust of science." And my "distrust of govt" is being much too generalized by you... it was really mainly a distrust of one guy and all his appointees... unfortunately it just so happened to be the most important position in our government. Right now almost half of all Republicans under 50 say they refuse to get a vaccine. Get Republican hesitancy down to Independent hesitancy and let's talk. On the whole, it's the Republican's that are the problem. A good swath of the Democrats who won't get the vaccine are minorities who have every damn right to be vaccine hesitant after what's been done to them throughout history. As of a month ago it was actually about 24% who were vaccine hesitant and that number had been trending down over months and the number of people planning to get a vaccine who are black has been trending up. Again, many of those "hesitant" ones were "wait 'n see" instead of downright refusal. That's different from a lot of Trump voters... just take a look at the "White Evangelical" numbers. Probably Again... get the Republican hesitancy down to even the Independent hesitancy and we can talk... though we likely wouldn't need to because we'd be much closer to if not already meeting the 80-85% Herd Immunity benchmark. I really don't have a clue if I've talked to you about my experience getting the vaccine or not--I thought I did--but to me there's a huge difference between vaccine hesitancy and vaccine refusal. Hesitancy implies that you could be swayed in the other direction with proper convincing, knowledge, observation and research. I was what I would call "hesitant." Although I would have eventually gotten either one, I was skeptical of the Phizer and Moderna vaccines just because of the brand new mRNA technology and how it's done I wanted a vaccine using "familiar" technology, which is why I was happy to get the J & J vaccine, which is a viral vector vaccine... a technology we've been using for half a century. I did A LOT of research and am quite happy with my decision. And I'm more comfortable now if in the future I need to get an mRNA vaccine, as well. So I think we should stop using the phrase "vaccine hesitancy" as the problem. It's the "vaccine refusal" that's the problem. And those are by a heavy plurality the white Republican men. Thanks for posting this... these people are all saying they trust scientists, not Donald Trump. What's the problem? You're calling this "political mischievousness" and that's a massive part of the problem here because this shouldn't be a political issue... it should be a scientific one. And that's exactly what they're saying: "I trust the scientists, not the politician." And as much as you want to flip that same argument around on Biden (because I know you're just itching to do that), my point is that it's the scientists (and science itself if you look at it) have been saying for MONTHS now that these vaccines are safe and efficacious and that EVERYONE should be getting vaccinated so that life can get back to normal -
Have you paid attention in particular to all the stories that have come out from retired NFL players? You honestly think these guys are making choices to get shot up with whatever multitude of things these guys get shot up with understanding the long-term side-effects or repercussions of these shots? Same thing goes with the NFL's history of concussions among the players.

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19

Yet again... self-fulfilling prophecy. Biden's benchmark change isn't because it's impossible for us to reach a level of legit Herd Immunity if 85-90% of us were to get vaccinated. It's because the morons of the Country are making that 85-90% number an impossible benchmark to reach. You dug yourselves in so deeply that you pretty much ensure exactly what you don't want... some type of mitigation and restrictions remaining in our lives for a long time. Congratulations! You were right because 25-30% of our Country sucks at life! -
Why is this devolving into "personal choice?" The fact is that the NFL is a private business and therefore can have requirements for vaccinations for their players. It's already been decided a century ago by the Supreme Court that vaccinations can be mandated, so those of you arguing that this shouldn't be allowed are free to make that argument if you want. But the simple fact is that it can be allowed. NFL players are essentially at-will employees, anyway. But they make millions of dollars doing it. If they want to exercise their personal choice, it's their right to risk their jobs and their millions. I'm glad Beane and the NFL are doing this. Then they are free to find another career where their "personal choice" is not infringed upon.

I don't know if your time away from a Trump Presidency has made you more desperate to be right and thus more cryptic, more vague and less intelligible... but that's unfortunately what most of this post is... Cryptic... Vague.... Unintelligible. If you've had a few drinks this evening, I completely understand... I've drunk-posted before. If not... please translate... -

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
transplantbillsfan replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
So first I'll say that it's not remotely that I'm nostalgic for any of those that left (though I do miss @Foxx and @Buffalo_Gal)... it's more the fact that they left not understanding that in doing so they pretty glaringly announced that they're the big problem with this Country... because this is them: It's a sad state of affairs because they made excuses about how they really left because they were being unfairly attacked, but that's just a load of crap. Half those posters that left (and particularly the ones kicked out) attacked posters with differing opinions left and... well... mainly left. It's silly of you to lump the hesitancy of black people with the hesitancy among Republicans. And let me just say this... I think "hesitancy" in the true definition of the word is understandable to a degree. I was hesitant myself... until I did my research and settled on the exact vaccine I wanted and knew why I wanted it... and then I got it and now I'm good. We aren't talking hesitancy... we're talking refusal for a select group that screwing over the rest of us. Refusal for vaccination among Black people = UNDERSTANDABLE If you don't understand why... go look at our history involving vaccinations and other medical atrocities with minorities and the disenfranchised Refusal for vaccination among Republican Men = STUPIDLY IGNORANT HYPOCRISY in many cases As for the rest of the post... I'll just ignore it. What I've come to realize is that sabotage is just the Republican way. Rather than quickly recover, thrive and live normally under a Democratic Administration, you would instead undermine all efforts to recover from a Pandemic your former leader so poorly managed just to try to save some face. Why do I want to check for a single place in a big Country I live nowhere near? And what do you believe cherry-picking zip codes proves? -
Seriously!!! Holy crap!! I just watched his highlights and the guy sure as heck looks like an NFL player to me! I realize his pro day speed was somewhere in the 4.4s... but man... multiple times you see him just running away and creating separation. My guess is his play speed is just fast... which is what you want. Obviously who knows what happens and we have to consider the competition he was playing against... but as a long term developmental prospect in the 6th round who could potentially crack the roster and maybe become a return guy in year 1... that's a win!

Yes, we were. And the run defense wasn't even an issue in the AFC Championship. And the Bills were 13-3 and of those 3 losses, only our loss to the Chiefs was where we lost arguably because of our run Defense. And in the year as the season ended, the Chiefs played a meaningless Week 17 game that they lost, so we wouldn't have gotten Homefield advantage even in beating the Chiefs because they likely would have started everyone Week 17 and likely would have won. But what if they didn't? What if that one win gave Buffalo Homefield Advantage throughout the playoffs? Would our season have ended in the AFC Championship game? Buffalo was great last year, but our Defense as a whole was worse than 2019, in particular our run Defense. Personally, I would like our run D to get better while continuing to improve in other areas of the team that needs improving (pass rush) and keeping our dynamic offense in tact. Voila.... Star allows us to do that in 2021.

This is why I don't waste my time over here. It will just inevitably devolve into what it once was. I watched all 7 minutes of that and I saw a politician berating a scientist with policy questions. And of course you reach silly conclusions. I hope you at least got vaccinated. If you didn't... it's definitely time for you to -

You've convinced me fully. Mandate the vaccine. I hope Biden does it soon. And if the Federal Government doesn't do it, I hope enough State Governments, Schools, and Private businesses do. Anyone who didn't get the vaccine and is continuing to complain about things being shut down has been chowing down too much Stupid Stew... likely in heavy doses over the last 4 1/2 years. -

Really this goes for many of the threads in this forum... and many of those posters are now gone because they needed to seek out an exclusive echo-chamber where they could bounce conspiracy theories off each other without any contrarians present to invalidate their opinions. Many of those people now gone are likely the same idiots refusing to get vaccinated while still complaining about things being closed down. Everyone? You can never say "everyone." https://www.pewtrusts.org/en/research-and-analysis/blogs/stateline/2021/04/23/republican-men-are-vaccine-hesitant-but-theres-little-focus-on-them Republican Men Are Vaccine-Hesitant, But There's Little Focus on Them About 13% of American adults don’t want a COVID-19 vaccine, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation. Republicans are the most resistant; nearly 3 in 10 say they don’t want one. The share is greater among rural, Republican men, 35% of whom don’t want to get a vaccine. So far, more than 200 million complete doses of COVID-19 have been administered in the United States, which amounts to about 34% of U.S. adults being fully vaccinated. The percentage of vaccinated adults needed to reach herd immunity is widely debated, but many scientists say the country must top 80% of the adult population. -

It's a self-fulfilling prophecy... that's the problem. It's ridiculous to me that all the people complaining about everything still being shut down are the same morons refusing to get vaccinated. What idiots. Get your vaccines you Trump-loving Republicans and then complain about things not getting back to normal!!! My in-laws are an example of the people I'm talking about. The whole conversation ever since Trump was in office was reaching Herd immunity. Trump talked about everyone getting sick in order to get there... more rational people talked about the right percentage getting vaccinated to get there. Herd immunity is NOT 50% of the population. Want to legitimately be able to complain about everything still being closed? Get your vaccination if you haven't or talk to your ilk if you have. I really wish they would just mandate the vaccine already. -

Let's revisit and grade 2017 draft
transplantbillsfan replied to No_Matter_What's topic in The Stadium Wall
We got 3 guys who are part of our central corps out of that draft in White, Dawkins and Milano. One of those guys is an All-Pro and multiple time pro-bowler. The other 2 guys I believe are borderline pro-bowlers. Plus... whatever the "Mahomes factor" is, the simple fact is that if Mahomes came into Buffalo, he likely would have had to play in year 1 with a pretty underwhelming offensive roster and OC. Mahomes benefitted greatly from sitting behind Alex Smith on an established playoff team with an already very good offensive roster. If Josh Allen didn't work out, this is a different conversation. But he did and that's the draft that helped us to get Allen. How could that not be viewed as a great draft? -
Buffalo was significantly better against the run in 2019 vs. the run with Star in the lineup than without him in 2020 by almost every metric. Buffalo gave up more yards vs. the run in 2020 than 2019 Buffalo gave up more YPA vs. the run in 2020 than 2019 Buffalo gave up more 1st downs vs. the run in 2020 than 2019 Buffalo gave up more TDs vs. the run in 2020 than 2019 And I believe the disparity is even worse because I think Tremaine Edmunds got better at MLB vs. the run this year. Don't take it from me, though... take it from Brandon Beane: “I know he’s not a 10-sack guy and things like that, but what he provides, not only the run game, but just the ability for our linebackers to roam free, I think it took (the defensive line) a little time (to adjust).” and Sean McDermott: "When it comes down to playing defensive tackle, it’s the most unselfish position on the defense," ..."“Those one techniques, sometimes don’t get a lot of recognition for the dirty work or get their name in the paper."

So, what's the plan at RB?
transplantbillsfan replied to ChicagoRic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Aside from what YOU think... we have 2 young RBs who have played well on occasion along with one newly acquired speedster. To top it off we have a UDFA who looked really good in live action against the Dolphins and fan-favorite Christian Wade. It wasn't a sexy draft but it didn't need to be. Give the RB corps another year and let's see what they can do. Our offense doesn't run through them, anyway.
