The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
transplantbillsfan replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I don't think anyone actually believes ALL of the bad things happening with Covid is Trump's fault. If your interpretation is someone believing that Trump is responsible for EVERYTHING Covid related, you should ask them. My guess is they would say they don't blame him for everything. However, Trump has made things worse, and thank you for acknowledging that. -
The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19

If you hold Trump accountable for his rhetoric for Wednesday, then his rhetoric is also partially to blame for how rampant Covid is in our Country. You must be able to acknowledge that, at the very least. But it's game day... GO BILLS!!! -
You do an amazing job of twisting words and cherry picking. You should become what you seem to hate: a politician. and... is this a bizarro world where @DC Tom is honestly trying to play the victim????
-
You're referring to Harry Reid and this ultimately happened because of Republican obstructionism... and I think it was also led by McConnell Yes... Democrats had a filibuster proof majority and the '08 election was almost primarily based on Healthcare. They had a mandate. They couldn't get everything they wanted, but it was a helluva lot better than what was before or the nothingburger of a plan Trump has. Please see Donald Trump Eliminating the ACA and preexisting conditions, making abortion illegal, giving the richest of our country by far the most significant tax breaks, trying to deport young people who might not be US citizens but know no other country and are upstanding non-citizens, making it easier rather than harder for civilians to get assault rifles and other automatic weapons, rhetoric exonerated white supremacists like in Charlottesville, etc. So disgusting
-
Why should liberals say that? In the past, I honestly felt that way. But Mitch McConnell has shifted my entire political belief system. Over the last 4 years Trump and McConnell and Republicans used every twisted power they could to get absolutely everything they could do in their power. The hypocrisy of holding the Supreme Court nomination after Scalia died for 10+ months and rushing the nomination of ACB after RBG died is just, frankly, absolutely disgusting. I would like the Democrats to get rid of the filibuster and pack the courts. When one party controls the House, the Senate, AND the Presidency, you have a mandate. Donald Trump and the Republicans kinda fumbled around when they had all 3 of those, but they passed a disastrous tax reform and tried to overturn Obamacare, but luckily didn't because of John McCain. Donald Trump is the most notable culprit when it comes to our country's divisive rhetoric for a long time now... and it goes all the way back to him propagating the conspiracy theory of birthirism with Obama. But... hey.... that's your President, right?

I'm going to quote my father-in-law and step-father-in-law here because I don't think this is a policy thing so much as a "stick it to da man" thing, which I'm seein reflected in some of your most recent posts as well: "He's an outsider who doesn't do things the Washington-way." Seriously. That's what I believe it boils down to. It's the essence of his popularity. And in terms of policy (to some degree, at least), his popularity primarily among the more institutional Republicans has to do with the sheer luck of being able to nominate so many federal and Supreme Court Judges. But that was just the dumb luck of being President for 4 years, and getting 3 Supreme Court vacancies with a Republican controlled Senate led by a Senator with no integrity who blocked so many federal judges during the Obama Administration soas to limit his own nominations along with blocking Merrick Garland after Scalia's death for 10 months and then pulling a 180 when Ginsberg passed. Really it's probably judges. Policy-wise that's why he's so popular. Funny enough because it was luck. I also think there are plenty of reasons that fall underneath that. White Extremists are probably 100% behind him, but no, I don't believe all Trump supporters are White Extremists. So many other roads to go down that aren't policy like "he says what he's thinking" or "there's no filter" or "look at his Empire..." etc. I'm sorry but with the ultimate unravelling of this week--just the final one (hopefully) of many--I think you guys need to just open your eyes.

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19

I have a question: Do you hold Trump accountable in any way for what happened at the Capital on Wednesday? I think you're over at the other site, right? Good thing you're in an echo chamber with people who agree with you. You'd be banned by now for trolling like this. I was banned for much less. -
The Georgia Runoff--So Big!
transplantbillsfan replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Well said. I guess what just disheartens me is I really did think some of the posters who fled to that other site were people I enjoyed engaging with about both politics and football. Oh well. It's been a helluva week--and aside from the politics, I've been dealing with some personal crises that I won't get into--and ya know what? If the Bills win tomorrow, I will forget about politics for a good chunk of time. Sports truly is the great unifier. I know that because I travel every football morning to watch the games with my Trump supporting friend. Happy New Year! And GO BILLS!!! -
Yes it was a real question. Soooo... the answer is no? No officers dead there. And I'm not trivializing them being shot, but my question was if any died.
-
Being "objective" relating to numbers correlating to the situation I provided you relating to Trump's last few months in office combined with his actual Increasing support among Republicans isn't objectivity, it's naivete, if not wilful ignorance.
-
Those Presidents were just better in their first terms than Trump. This was an interesting exercise, though. You doubted my statement and asked for proof. I provided requested proof. Then in an effort to validate your own beliefs you sought evidence you could use to counter that proof. There's a big difference between those other Presidents and Trump. It's Covid and our current Economy. We lost 4,000+ Americans today and have lost 375,000 since the Pandemic began less than a year ago and all Trump cares about are his false claims of a rigged election. 400,000 Americans will have died because of Covid under Trump's watch by the time he's finally out of office. Is there even a REMOTELY similar situation among the 3 cited 1st term Presidents? I appreciate the initial acknowledgement even if you couldn't quite sustain it, but it might be best to accept how terrible he is.

Police Officer just died due to injuries sustained during this riot. Did any police officers die during the BLM protests?

I told many of them to just ignore me. Evidently they came up with an ignore feature so not only could they not see my initial posts, but they couldn't see my posts when people responded to me. Their ignorance is their bliss. There are 2 sides to every story and the truth will obviously be somewhere in the middle, but you gave me a nice big belly laugh by saying I'm "swinging over there." Frankly, being banned from there doesn't bother me a great deal. I wish posters like @Foxx and @Buffalo_Gal didn't abandon this discussion board altogether because I really like both of them. And I really like talking Bills football with both of them. I think @billsfan1959 went over there, too... I feel the same way about him. And yes, there are a couple others... but a couple of them have chosen to straddle that board and this one, like you. Glad you stayed. Most of the other people over there simply aren't worth my time. But yes, part of my motivation going over there was getting Greg to live up to his bet. The fact that he didn't legitimately surprised me. It also put him in the category of not being worth the time. -
The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19

Ya know. Over 4,000 people died today. There are almost 375,000 Americans dead. 400,000 Americans are likely going to pass away from this disease in less than a year. And SO MUCH of this is on Donald Trump. Any individual still calling this Pandemic a hoax should go play in traffic, but even the ones who did for the longest time initially are probably going to suddenly say it's real but shift blame to the states. These people are idiots... and they're probably largely over at another forum right now because they needed to go dark web to stay loyal to a treasonous bastard of a POTUS. -
Wow.... so you haven't paid ANY attention, have you? https://news.gallup.com/poll/203198/presidential-approval-ratings-donald-trump.aspx 94% in September 94% from September-October 95% mid October (insane considering this was after that absolute debacle of a first debate) 90% in November AFTER the election!!! 87% in the first half of December which is just.....
-
You can never say that about anyone. But he's been an awful President. Hell, he should be taking credit for the vaccine (even though he bungled SO MUCH of the entire Pandemic itself), but instead he can't stop talking about election fraud. This guy was just horrible for our country in so many different ways.
-
The Republicans you know are not representative of the party as a whole. It's pretty widely known that support of Trump in the Republican party was insanely high. Now, maybe what you're actually saying is what I hear from my Bills fan friend who voted for Trump in that he doesn't like what he says, but he loves what he's been doing. Even that's problematic, in all honesty. The Trump policies are so closely tied in with who he is and what he says.
-
Fringe? Are you kidding? Support of Trump in the Republican party was some crazy high number of 95% or something crazy just a few months ago. What happened yesterday will likely shift things a little, but anyone who is shocked by where Trump led his followers is utterly naive because he's been talking about this since the 2015 General Election. All Trump supporters are culpable to at least some small degree plainly because of their dismissiveness over Trump's rhetoric when his rhetoric is what ultimately caused yesterday. That is a sad but plain truth. As great as it is that a bunch of those Republican senators backtracked their challenges to the free and fair election, the fact that they were blindly and loyally following their leader's move to overturn an election brought this entire incident about.
-
The difference is that this is the soul of an actual political party now with its leader being the POTUS, the leader of the "free world" and most powerful man in the world. And if you say that Antifa is the soul of the Democratic Party, you really don't have a leg to stand on.
-
Honestly, I kinda think he has a point. All Extremism is bad. Absolutely. And there are extremists on the far-left who should be condemned and penalized. However, the very core of Trumpism really is to fight, not accept defeat, and not help others if it doesn't benefit yourself. The only good that seems to be coming out of yesterday is that I think FINALLY Trump has lost his grip on the Republican party, which will now almost certainly be fractured as Trump's followers likely break off to try to create some 3rd party likely not named the Trumpsters Terrorism Party.
-
There were people shot and killed and hurt because of extremists on BOTH sides, though. That's where you're confused. A lot of the violence was instigated and even enflamed and encouraged by far-right extremists who had an agenda to make all the protests as chaotic and violent as possible. And no, I'm not forgiving any far left extremists, but the violence and destruction didn't happen solely (sometimes it didn't even happen primarily) because of them. What happened yesterday was Trump supporters trying to overthrow a free and fair election and doing so violently. And in the process they were desecrating one of the most sacred and historic buildings in our nation. This is not an apples to apples comparison, whether you like it or not.

transplantbillsfan replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I still see you here... you haven't been banned. In fact, the only idiots over there who got themselves banned from here are @The_Dude (and he was banned for being a scum of the Earth and saying absolutely horrible things about enjoying killing Hajis... among other things) and @Deranged Rhino (who got banned because he was a troll who was utterly hypocritical and was even given multiple chances). I didn't really care about their namecalling, but over at that site, they were the ones making everything personal. They just always got so angry because I didn't accept their 200 something page "Voter Fraud" thread and all the disinformation in it as actual evidence of fraud. They're small people, really. The fact that they were pushing to ban me for the last few weeks and finally got it done tells me that. I don't care. Greg is a loser who led them over there and can't even accept reality and the rest of them have followed him deep into the rabbit hole. I'm sure they'll welcome you with open arms since they only accept like-minded people and you're clearly one of them. -

Is the politics board over there still open? I got banned overnight because I asked them all if they were doing okay since it looked like the Presidency, House and Senate would all now be blue and I made fun of their complaint of Ossoff and Warnack suddenly jumping in the lead as hypocritical because when there was only something like 20% of the vote in, Ossoff and Warnack were up by close to 100k votes. They thought that was worthy of a ban. Pretty sad. Anyway, I used a different browser just to go to the site to check and not be signed in, and I no longer saw a political forum visible. Is it still there? If so, I'm guessing they make it invisible to those not signed in. I just think it's sad. You and @Doc Brown are probably going to be the most sane ones over there now. Good luck.
