It used to be the norm for guys to bounce back if they could physically go. Of course, as a result, you end up with a Jim McMahon or two, but we probably wouldn't be talking about this at all if it was 10, or maybe even 5 years ago.

Titans/City Agree on New DOMED Stadium
BullBuchanan replied to Protocal69's topic in The Stadium Wall
Our lease is 30 years. I imagine the penalties for breaking it won't be light. I'd honestly rather the team move than play in a domed stadium. You can't say you're the "Bills Mafia" where jumping through tables is your calling card, or the tailgate capital of the NFL where the star attraction gets showered with mustard and ketchup, or where your star QB is known as a guy that would sooner run through you (or over you) than around, and then turn around and mosey on in to your 71 degree climate controlled office building to watch a game. maybe you can grab dinner, a movie and a massage while you're there? -

Well, you can air your grievances in 30 years when the new lease is up. Until then, you'll just have to suck it up. -

Might as well just move the team to Orlando and rebrand them with a Disney partnership. Football is gladiatorial chess and it's designed to be played in the elements. If it's too cold, snowy, windy, rainy, to go to a game, maybe those folks should just stay home. There are only 10 domes in the NFL and 7 of them are in the south. The rest of them are a pretty sorry lot in the Lions, Vikings and Colts that i wouldn't want to be compared to. I'm glad the softies lost and this is finally over for at least 20 years. -

If you're going to cop an attitude slick, you should probably read the actual source you posted. It's less than a tweet in length, but apparently that was asking too much. You claimed that the Bills stadium is "All taxpayer funded" which is not correct. $850M of it is. . -
Great Dane Jackson and Advanced Passing Statistics

I'm curious how much our defensive line play has benefited our secondary. Is anyone aware of a defensive time to throw or throw quality allowed stat? I wonder if PFF tracks something like that. -

Maybe you'd be happier with a soccer team. Domes make football trash. You're also completely wrong about the funding, but I guess that's on trend. -
Rhodes is only on the PS due to injury. If he was part of the plan, he probably would have been on the roster earlier. I don't think he plays a down for us. Once White comes back, we'll have a ton of CBs

He's not even in the conversation. I have a better chance at winning the Heisman. He's a beast.

Will this be the year Josh Allen joins the 5000 club?
BullBuchanan replied to Lost's topic in The Stadium Wall
Lots of QBs should join it with the bonus game. -
I think they've both played quite well. Basham was the highest rated pass rusher in the league a few weeks ago and has a sack and int with a 31% snap count. Epenesa has 2.5 sacks with a 38% snap count

And Chris Jones is one of the best in the business.

Is hating JJ Watt a thing or did he poop on your lawn? Dude's an all-time great.

There's little need to ban tactics in my opinion, because coaching and talent will always evolve to create a new meta in the gap the previous one left. There have been massive shifts very recently in the current NFL meta from having multiple full D-line rotations, to going for it on 4th down, using WRs as running backs, etc. Brett Kollman had a great video on how the Dolphins have been solving the Bills offense over the course of a couple seasons that came out before our most recent loss to them and it was enlightening to see the kinds of work coaches put in, but you still need the talent to do it. I don't know what the next iteration of the league will be, but I'm pretty certain that it can happen on its own without the need to change the game. Rule changes have had a massive impact on the game we have today, but almost all of them came from a place of avoiding injury. As a result, offenses were completely opened up and defenses were put on their heels. For a while now, playing defense has almost become unfair to the defender. Talent is starting to catch up and one of the best eras in QB history has recently closed, so it's no surprise that some variance is occurring. Also, the NHL never banned the trap. They just opened up the game around it to make it less optimal.

I wouldn't say that it has much to do with punting. I also don't think it's accurate to paint a picture that offensive production declined last year, because 2020 was an outlier as the highest scoring year in history. last year was still the 6th highest scoring season of all time and 3rd highest in the last 10 years. Offenses have been putrid this year and I ascribe that to poor QB play and bad schemes. I can't remember seeing so many single digit halftime scores. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/NFL/scoring.htm

Hopkins is out for the season?
-
They'll have to drop someone for White. Suspended players don't count against the limit. That's the only reason he wasn't cut in pre-season.
-
kinda weird given they have Hopkins returning this week and a plethora of WRs they brought in that haven't been able to elavate Murray's game for him. Maybe he can play QB?
-
We won, but I wouldn't be so quick to relegate KC. Yea, they lost Hill, but they showed us they have young talent like Moore and Pacheco on the rise. They'll definitely draft more weapons this offseason too. In the end the game came down to a one score affair with Mahomes having the ball and an opportunity to win it. I won't make a habit of betting against them in that spot, regardless of how well we play.

Minshew isn't a great example. He's progressed every year. He just had the unfortunate circumstance to play in the dumpster fire of Jacksonville. He isn't blessed with all world athleticism, but he could very well have a Taylor/McCown/Fitzpatrick sort of career trajectory ahead of him. He's got 41-12 TD/INT an increasing completion percentage and had a monster game for Philly last year.

Must admit I love when Nance and Romo call our games…

It's a buffalo thing. The same reason why they can't help themselves from adding an 's' on to the end of players' names. -
Studs and Duds: AFC Teams after 6 Games
BullBuchanan replied to Beck Water's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills and Chiefs are the class of the conference and there isn't anyone close to them right now, but it's a long season - even longer now. The Browns have shown the ability to play big games. The Chargers have been drastically under-performing and so have the Broncos. The Raiders have lost every game by 6 or less and have a complete team that just needs to come together. Carr will always be their weak link though. The Bengals probably have too many holes to repeat, and the Titans look like a shadow of their former selves. The Fins are pretenders, and the Ravens are built to win in the playoffs unless they make drastic changes to their offense. As happy as it makes me as a Mark Andrews owner in fantasy, WR's are not a part of their scheme. -

Romo is the best I've ever heard as a color guy in any sport and it's not close. He has a way of talking about the action that brings tremendous insight to people that already know the game as well as casual fans who might not always know what they're seeing. John Madden had the latter, but being able to combine the two seamlessly while being entertaining is a an extremely rare gift.
