One Flu over the Cuckoo's Nest (Conspiracy Theories)
Foxx replied to Foxx's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
to be honest, i'm not sure but i am thinking something like, mortality rate on a comparable scale of flu numbers. it is proven that the mortality rate rises when there is a financial downturn. i posited yesterday, the Trump Economy thread i think, that, depending on the final numbers, the economic collapse could have a higher fatality rate than this actual virus. also, if this lock down continues for 6 months, it is all but guaranteed that the JIT supply system will collapse. it is already stressing and it may be that all it needs is 3 months to start breaking down in earnest. uncharted waters lie ahead if this goes on much longer. -

well, ima just go out on a limb here and say... you probably don't want to call a Corona restaurant and order any COVID.

you might want to consider using a ZipWall and just shutting off the area completely. condone off that part of the house, have them install it. it is relatively cheap and easy to install. with care, it should be a pretty effective barrier. of course, only you can make the right decision for you and yours, do your due diligence before deciding one way or the other. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUcAu6rD8rU ETA: if you decide to go this route, a second barrier outside of the initial one would be my recommendation. you know, just to be doubly safe.

it certainly is way too early to have any sort of an accurate gauge or even a trend line at this point but... numbers from Washington where it was first reported to have hit American shores. https://twitter.com/NateSilver538/status/1240687815219752962 it would seem there is a leveling off of numbers reported in the last two days?

i think it (officialdom's response) is going to get worse before it gets better. GUS just issued a, Global Level 4 Health Advisory – Do Not Travel which probably means they are going to close the US borders in a couple days. from the link: The Department of State advises U.S. citizens to avoid all international travel due to the global impact of COVID-19. In countries where commercial departure options remain available, U.S. citizens who live in the United States should arrange for immediate return to the United States, unless they are prepared to remain abroad for an indefinite period. U.S. citizens who live abroad should avoid all international travel. Many countries are experiencing COVID-19 outbreaks and implementing travel restrictions and mandatory quarantines, closing borders, and prohibiting non-citizens from entry with little advance notice. Airlines have cancelled many international flights and several cruise operators have suspended operations or cancelled trips. If you choose to travel internationally, your travel plans may be severely disrupted, and you may be forced to remain outside of the United States for an indefinite timeframe. On March 14, the Department of State authorized the departure of U.S. personnel and family members from any diplomatic or consular post in the world who have determined they are at higher risk of a poor outcome if exposed to COVID-19 or who have requested departure based on a commensurate justification. These departures may limit the ability of U.S. Embassies and consulates to provide services to U.S. citizens. For the latest information regarding COVID-19, please visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) website. You are encouraged to visit travel.state.gov to view individual Travel Advisories for the most urgent threats to safety and security. Please also visit the website of the relevant U.S. embassy or consulate to see information on entry restrictions, foreign quarantine policies, and urgent health information provided by local governments. Travelers are urged to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive Alerts and make it easier to locate you in an emergency. The Department uses these Alerts to convey information about terrorist threats, security incidents, planned demonstrations, natural disasters, etc. In an emergency, please contact the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate or call the following numbers: 1(888) 407-4747 (toll-free in the United States and Canada) or 1 (202) 501-4444 from other countries or jurisdictions. If you decide to travel abroad or are already outside the United States: Consider returning to your country of residence immediately using whatever commercial means are available. Have a travel plan that does not rely on the U.S. Government for assistance. Review and follow the CDC’s guidelines for the prevention of coronavirus. Check with your airline, cruise lines, or travel operators regarding any updated information about your travel plans and/or restrictions. Visit travel.state.gov to view individual Travel Advisories for the most urgent threats to safety and security. jmho but... the President should be worried about the economy and the markets. if they are going to thrust the wold economy into a global recession, that by itself could very well kill more people than a pandemic would. not saying he shouldn't be worried about them more than the CV scare, but one is possibly more impactful than the other. as for your perception that he cares more about the markets, that may just be your perception of #orangemanbad than reality.
