Where did Your Ancestors Originate?
Buffalo_Gal replied to bilzfancy's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
My son is a Mayflower descendant, too! Different line (I'd say, but they are the last direct line from the guy, soooo). Once they got to NYS they never moved out of here. It was interesting researching it. The Mayflower Society has the first five generations, and then you are on your own to connect the dots. -

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
Buffalo_Gal replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Tulsa’s official Juneteenth celebration is postponed this year, but there are a few other independent celebrations that are still set to happen. 7 local events listed, including block parties, a music and merchandise event downtown, Reverend Al showed up at one event, more at the link. -
The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
Buffalo_Gal replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Silly man, protesters (rioters, looters, vandals, etc) are immune from COVID-19. It is only those icky Trump supporters that get it at large gatherings. -

Putting this here too since DR will not delete his thread. Took me forever to find the decision. There seems to be little news about this in the UK or in the US. -

If these numbers are true, expect a fast rethinking of "not going back to school" by the Democrats. The article goes into how the 18-24 year old group have been notoriously bad about voting, but the Obama machine shook the bushes and got them there. It goes on to explain how colleges have been very good lately about getting students to vote, etc...

Trump tweeted about possibly cutting funding if schools do not reopen. I am not sure how that would work, but it is very important that schools reopen in the fall. Saying that, if I am over 60, especially with a preexisting condition that might make me more vulnerable to COVID-19, I am retiring. For the kids? Way worse to keep 'em home.

Can apply for a mail-in ballot. -
The lyrics were written by an ardent Republican. But, I do not think that any of that, the lyrics, who wrote them, etc. is the point. ?

October 1st as they are not allowed to lay-off before that due to the sweet government money they accepted. So, unless states (and countries) start welcoming tourists and work-travel back before October 1, this is, unfortunately, going to happen.

Oddly, this is not being reported far and wide. Bloomberg article British court rules against Christopher Steele, orders damages paid to businessmen named in dossier Court rules Steele's firm violated Britain's data privacy law by failing to aggressively check allegations in his dossier British judge ruled Wednesday that Christopher Steele violated a data privacy law by failing to check the accuracy of information in his infamous dossier, ordering the former spy’s firm to pay damages to two businessmen he wrongly accused of making illicit payments in Russia. Justice Mark Warby of the High Court of England and Wales ordered Steele’s firm, Orbis Business Intelligence, to pay a modest 18,000 English pounds – about $22,596 in American currency – each to Petr Aven and Mikhail Fridman as compensation for a violation of Britain’s Data Protection Act 1998 . </snip> The judge ruled that in Memo 112, one of several that made up Steele's dossier, there were six factually inaccurate or unproven claims that Steele provided from his alleged intelligence sources including that: * the businessmen did not do favors for or receive favors from Putin as the memo claimed; * Fridman and Aven did not provide informal foreign policy advice to the Russian leader as Steele alleged; * Fridman did not meet with Putin in September 2016 as claimed by Steele's source; * the businessman did not bribe Putin when he was Deputy Mayor of St Petersburg;* And Fridman and Aven did not do Putin’s political bidding as the dossier alleged. The ruling further accentuates that much of the Steele dossier contained unproven Internet rumor or false information, some possible from Russian intelligence, as the Justice Department inspector general concluded last December. Nonetheless, the FBI used evidence from Steele's dossier to support a warrant targeting Trump campaign figures in four occasions, claiming to the court that agents had verified the information. </snip>
