  1. USA Today: Jussie Smollett fails to persuade judge to drop Chicago lawsuit seeking $130,000 fine Link to story below: A federal judge in Chicago on Tuesday refused to dismiss the city’s lawsuit against actor Jussie Smollett, who claimed he was attacked by two white men in a hate crime. U.S. District Virginia Kendall’s ruling will allow the city’s lawsuit to try to recoup $130,000 the police department spent trying to get to the bottom of Smollett’s claims. Smollett’s lawyers argued that their client should not be forced to reimburse the city because he could not have known how much time and money police would spend investigating. </snip> Earlier this month, Abel and Ola Osundair, the two Nigerian brothers who were accused of attacking Smollett in a hate-crime hoax, met quietly with a special prosecutor, TMZ reported. </snip>
  2. Too bad for the Jets the NFL doesn't have a slaughter rule (mercy rule). Shesh this is ugly.
  3. Have you read threads in PPP before?
  4. Oh, my father always voted D too (so did my grandfather, etc). However, that does not mean they liked everything the Democrats became (my grandfather actually lamented to me what they had become when he was 95 - just a few years back). They ended up voting for locals they knew (they were very active in the Democratic Party, and my sister still is), instead of supporting federal candidates (although they all like Schumer, and after what his staff did to facilitate an issue for my sister, I understand their loyalty). Just because you vote one party over the other does not mean your views have not "evolved", especially in light of the uniparty we have "enjoyed" the last 25, 30 years.
  5. To me, that is appears highly unusual. Many (most) people start to move to more "conservative" leanings as they age. Many people "evolve". Whether that is maturity, life experience, or whatever, few have the same political (or life) views at 50 or 60 as they do at 20 or 30. I know there are stats and charts to "support" that, but I am sitting in a hotel room right now so will try and remember to dig some up later this week as I cannot at the moment.
  6. Good point. I will stop responding to you.
  7. Well, that quickly escalated to .
  8. Jebus, I cannot imagine that son-of-a-mailman being anyone's favorite. I know the NeverTrumpers love him, but after he smacked Newt around and took his Congressional ball home, I thought everyone knew Kasich was all about Kasich!? On the other hand, the good people of Ohio did elect him governor, so, apparently not.
  9. Congratulations on the overtime, Tibs!! ?
  10. ? That is gross. I know consuming copious amounts of alcohol accounts for a lot of these "bright ideas" but ... just ick.
  11. Mmmmm Bobby Sherman ? ? Er, Bob in Mich? Not-so-much.
  12. This is interesting to me due to the diversity of the states - some "high tax", some "low tax", some R, some Ds Five states, including some crucial to Trump, just hit all-time low unemployment rates * Alabama, California, Illinois, New Jersey and South Carolina all set new all-time low unemployment rates in September. * The declines come amid a national jobless rate that fell to 3.5%, the lowest since 1969. * Economic stability will be crucial to President Donald Trump in the 2020 election as he battles an impeachment threat in Congress. </snip>
  13. Interesting thread about the paragons of virtue at the CIA and FBI. thread unrolled
  14. Oh, I posted another source in the CA thread. Anyhoooooo if she were male or R, people would be out for her blood. She "flipped" an R CA district in 2018, so I am sure this "long term committed threesome" will go over well there. I hope the RNC is smart enough to run someone who can win in that district in 2020, and support that person.
  15. If this was a male Congressman, pitchforks would be out. If this was an R (either sex), pitchforks would be out. </snip> It is this writer’s view that events that occur within a marriage or affairs that lead to its demise should be kept between the parties involved and are not the business of the general public. When those events or affairs occur within one of the parties’ workplace, though, and that workplace is the United States Congress, the public should know about them as they determine that elected official’s fitness to serve. </snip>
  16. I don't think Tibs is paid to work on weekends. He'll get to the thread once OT is approved.
  17. People are simply pointing out to you that if (BIG if) contributions equal enthusiasm, the Rs are beating the snot out of the Ds. @Deranged Rhino linked to a CNBC article - a media outlet that is traditionally lefty leaning. That article, in turn, leads to the financial filings. At this point, it is quite clear the Rs have a lot more money raised, and on hand, than the Ds. Does that mean much of anything at the polls? For local races it will. For the Presidential race? Who knows. President Trump beat Hillary Clinton without spending the amount of cash she did. Will he out raise the D candidate for the 2020 race? Magic 8 ball says "signs point to yes"... but also "it is not certain". His donations are small, not corporate. Will corporations donate equally to both candidates? Will they favor the Ds? That we will need to wait and see. You are so busy attempting to be right, you are either being disingenuous or you have a real blind spot as to what is happening in this country. "The little people" have had it with being told by their "betters" what to do. Those R donations? Those donations to President Trump? Look at how many are from "the little people", and note it. We shall see in 2020 if those translated to votes.
  18. Has he tossed Obama's name out like this before? That OIG report is gonna be a humdinger.
  19. Individuals looking to donate to a D candidate could be holding back their donations until a clear nominee emerges, or at least until the race is down to the final three or five participants.
