The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
Buffalo_Gal replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
There is already a pecking order in place. Back when there was a limited number of flu shots and everyone couldn't always get one on demand, there was an order similar to what you described in determining most vulnerable. -
You are annoying, but I still deal with you. ? China's numbers will never be known. I see we are now moving from masks stopping the spread to masks slowing the spread ... is this like 2 weeks at home to stop the spread? Two months later, we are getting masks will slow it. What next? RID chips to tell where you have been so you can be notified if someone surrounding you gets it? Oh wait! That is what is now being pushed. Compliance buddy. That is all this is. You must obey all authority, no matter what.
-
I understand perfectly the purpose of masks. It is a cross between making the natives think they are doing something (with a placebo) and making the natives compliant. If masks worked the wonder you are advocating, this never would have spread in China - where the vast majority has been wearing masks daily for nearly 20 years.

Refugee Crisis in the U. S. (?)

Trump is on Maria Bartiromo this morning (recorded interview) and said that there will be 500 miles of new wall by early next year. This is in addition to rebuilding the old wall. (me) There are 1,954 miles of border, 580 miles of existing wall (in 2016), adding 500 more miles would be 1080 miles. This 2019 article is very anti-Trump, but it lists the natural barriers and the areas that would be covered by troops instead of walls. -
I've seen people say things like this often, but it is a false equivalence. One is a natural disaster that impacts only Area A, the other is a virus that can easily be spread from Area B to Areas C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, etc. If that forest fire could not be contained in Area A and could spread to the rest of the country, then it would be the same. Now, saying that... we are all going to get it! Open the damn country back up. Two weeks to flatten the curve does not mean stay inside hiding under our beds, forever. If the hospitals are in no danger of being overwhelmed, if there are now treatments, if there is now a better understanding of how this spreads, open the damn country!! You (generic you) are never, ever, EVER going to be completely safe from life. And if you are afraid, no one telling you to not stay inside. Do not tell me I need to. Do not tell a people they are not allowed to earn a living because you are scared. Open the damn country. And masks? ***** that. Here the NIH mask study again. N95 work, the rest? Nawwwww And RID chips? Super duper ***** that. "Get used to more intrusion!" ***** that.

Sanctuary City for business. That is genius. The natives are restless in California. Atwater is now a business ‘sanctuary city’ during coronavirus pandemic. What does it mean? </snip> “The City of Atwater is not going to go out and enforce any of the shelter in place orders by the state of California,” Mayor Paul Creighton told the Sun-Star. City police and code enforcement will not interfere with businesses that reopen ahead of state guidelines, he said. “But if you do have a state (business) license, that’s between you and the state of California,” Creighton said, noting that the city has no jurisdiction over these licenses. Merced County Sheriff Vern Warnke recently told the Sun-Star that his office is on the same page. “The Sheriff’s Office will not be enforcing the state’s COVID restrictions for businesses that they consider essential or nonessential,” he said. The City of Atwater claims 12 of Merced County’s 200 total cases Friday according to County Public Health. The sanctuary city resolution affirms the city’s commitment to fundamental Constitutional rights. Local officials and residents in attendance made clear their belief that these rights have been stripped recently due to coronavirus-related restrictions. “We have to base our decisions on the Constitution,” said Atwater business owner Chris Coffelt, who brought copies of the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the Amendments for each City Councilmember. “If you receive an order from the governor telling us that we can’t open our business, that’s an illegal order. It’s unconstitutional,” he added. Councilmember Brian Raymond, who thought of the idea, recently told the Sun-Star the plan is similar to cities like Coalinga, who declared all businesses essential in defiance of the governor’s four stages of reopening. But Atwater is likely the first to use the term sanctuary city in this way, he said. </snip>

Possibly, although what is attractive to one person may be unattractive to the next person. Beauty is subjective. -
Everything Joe Biden--Gaffes, Miscues, Touching, Songs

He was not on a list of “creepy” male senators that female staffers told each other to avoid in the elevators on Capitol Hill. You can bet money he would have been at some point. Joe Biden didn't just decide to start sniffing hair in public one day. There was probably inappropriate contact many years ago, for many years, out of the view of the camera, and no one told him to cut it out. That would be enabling by staffers. None of the people interviewed said that they had experienced sexual harassment, assault or misconduct by Biden. All said they never heard any rumors or allegations of Biden engaging in sexual misconduct, until the recent assault allegation made by Tara Reade. The only way that is true (no rumors), is a shame factor. What did I do to cause him to do XYZ? He's never done that before, it must have been something I did. Or the rationalization factor, "Oh, that's just Joe!" or "He doesn't mean anything by it." or "I must have read him wrong." The interviews revealed previously unreported details about the Biden office when Reade worked there, such as an account that she lost her job because of her poor performance, not as retaliation for lodging complaints about sexual harassment, as Reade has said. Other recollections from former staffers corroborated things she has described publicly, such as Biden’s use of the Senate gym and a supervisor admonishing her for dressing inappropriately. That will be the story from now on. That was not what first came out (she lost her job because she filed a complaint), but they are going full on blaming the victim, she's crazy, yada yada. She may be, but this a very old approach to discrediting a sexual assault victim. “The one thing about Joe Biden is, he is a man of the highest character and that’s why these accusations are so surreal and just can’t comport with the man I worked with,” said Marcia Lee Taylor, a senior policy advisor on the Judiciary Committee, where women held leading roles when Biden served as chairman. I mean come on... this guy sold out his country for money from the Ukraine (where the Obama administration participated in the coup election over there), sold out to China for money, he participated in a soft-coup here... the inappropriate touching and sniffing in front of cameras... "highest character" uh huh, what was she paid or given in exchange for that quote? (Assuming it is the real quote and not twisted.) I could go piece by piece on the article, but you asked if his staff "enabled" him - that would be (most likely as I cannot know for certain) a yes. He's been in a position of high power (it doesn't get much higher than Senator and Vice President of the United States), and people would not be telling him "no" very often. And, if they did tell him "no," like it or not, their career in politics, and probably out of politics too, would be over. -

I am glad that there are a few Ds coming out against this behemoth pork package. Sounds like it will be trimmed, as it should be. We will find out later if it is trimmed enough, and what "goodies" are kept in. -

Oh, they are gonna tear her apart. Everything she ever said, did, or looked at that can be misconstrued, misstated, and misrepresented to make her look bad, will be. The Biden camp and "msm" tried ignoring her and then people started digging and found contemporaneous evidence that suggests Joe Biden did something to her. The 1990s court papers where her husband said she was abused, the Larry King interview, the friends that acknowledged she talked about it at the time it happened lend credence to her claims. When her story surfaced several years ago, it was ignored. One article. It started to gain some traction this time around, and it was still ignored... until the Larry King interview was found. Then, suddenly, it was a story, and Joey Fingers had to answer a few (not a lot, a few) questions. It doesn't help that there are a ton of photographs with Joey Fingers being Creepy Joe. He just seems like a guy who could take something too far. Did he do it? No idea. But, it certainly is interesting that we went from #MeToo and #BelieveAllWomen to the old 70s and 80s rape trial defenses of disparaging the victim and putting her on trial. -
