Beane Discusses Draft Strategy w/ Pat McAfee
Doc Brown replied to Donuts and Doritos's topic in The Stadium Wall
True and Diggs was basically our first round pick in 2020. His best WR acquisitions besides that have come in free agency with Brown and Beasley. Shakir and Gabe are good day finds on day 3 to fill that WR3/4 role. Now he has to show he can draft the eventual next WR1 for this team and this has to be the draft he does it in. -
Just kick it through the end zone to get it at the 30. Either way scoring will go up which is what the NFL wants.

As long as he didn't bet on a basketball game at the facility he should be fine. As for the Fins even entertaining signing OBJ signals to me they're going to invest on the o-line in day one and/or two of the draft. They have to given the lack of quality free agents still available at their main position of need. Should be good news for us if we are targeting a WR.

Woody Johnson says the Jets will not release Zach Wilson.

The owner shouldn't make football comments if he's not the GM. We're lucky we don't have a meddling owner. -
Harris doesn't want to end up like him. That's for sure. Smart to get out now so you can get out of bed at 50.

Anyone else feeling pretty good with the Bills?
Doc Brown replied to SoonerBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
What specifically did the Colts do differently to finally get past the Pats in the 2000's? What did the 49ers do differently to finally get past the Cowboy's in the 90's? They kept tweaking personnel but the GM/Head Coach/QB remained the same. They just kept working on it each off-season to try and put themselves in that position again and the ball finally bounced their way. We may look back 10 years from now and realize how stupid it would've been if we didn't stay the course. -

Does Josh Allen still work as hard in the offseason?
Doc Brown replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
Keep doing it. Sky Moore and Mecole Hardman were whiffs of 2nd round picks. Rashee Rice is the only one that they've seen to hit on. -
Are you better off today than you were four years ago?
Doc Brown replied to BillStime's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I give him credit for Operation Warp Speed for the vaccines though. A massive success that saved a lot of lives and we may still be wearing masks without it. Ironically, the moronic faction of the Democrat party don't want to give Trump any credit for it while the idiot faction of the Republican party thinks it was unnecessary. -
True but don't underestimate McDermott's ability to coach up safeties. The o-line is my main concern as we won't have as much injury luck as we did last year and our depth inside will be a lot weaker.

My pleasure and I'm even an optimist by nature. Shorter is just the classic late round under performing yet highly recruited toolsy player that is bound to disappoint fans who think he could be a steal in the 5th round. -
Bills Titans 1999 playoff game on air today 1230
Doc Brown replied to davefan66's topic in The Stadium Wall
It would've been fun to see twitter's live reaction to that decision and game. Has there ever been a QB competition as passionate and ugly as that one? I remember wishing I could transform Flutie's brain into Johnson's body. Josh Allen also happened to be born right before both were signed here so maybe God had too much free time on his hands. -

Josh isn't blameless either and fans I think are a little too harsh on Gabe not wanting to blame Josh. However, I think a lot of those INT's/miscues was Josh putting "too much" trust in Gabe given his size. You just didn't see him take those chances with someone like Jon Brown or Emmanuel Sanders. I prefer that type of outside WR opposite Diggs. Remove the temptation of having a WR with Gabe's profile. He's not a wild-card. He's a WR4 special teams gunner and that's his ceiling imo. Anyone expecting more will be disappointed. -

I just have faith that Allen will make sure this is still a top five offense and McDermott will figure out the defense to make sure it stays in the top half of the league. My expectations of winning the division and at least making the divisional round remain the same as it has since we acquired Diggs in 2020. Then it just comes down to a matter of how healthy we are compared to our competition come playoff time. Like every year, the biggest caveat is that Allen stays healthy. -
Is drafting Diggs replacement a priority in this draft?
Doc Brown replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
Only nine rookie WR's had more yards than Diggs had last year in NFL history. None had more receptions. Expecting a rookie WR to come in and produce at his level is unrealistic. -
Not past the WC round but he had a certain play for the Vikings that was somewhat memorable in the playoffs.
-
They can roll that cap space over to next year as Jones's cap hit next year is $34.8m in 2025. It puts them in good position to re-sign Humphrey, Danna, and D. Smith if they wanted.
-
I guess it's better than a comp pick which is what they would've gotten if they just let him walk. Don't like the move for the Titans as they'll now have to pay top dollar for a CB and give up what will pry be a high 3rd rounder.

Marvin Harrison Jr wants to be a Bill
Doc Brown replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
The general consensus at the time was Watkins was the best WR prospect since AJ Green. Giving up significant draft capital to move up in the draft (especially for a non QB) is historically a losing proposition. -

Not for the Vikings he didn't. The Cowboys parlayed those draft picks into Emmitt Smith, Russell Maryland, Kevin Smith, and Darryl Woodson. It's one of the most fascinating trades of all time. -

A bit hyperbolic as the Herschel Walker trade alone pry led to three Cowboys Super Bowls in the 90's. Also, that doesn't mean Atlanta wouldn't have used those picks they gave up effectively. -

Careful what you wish for. I'm not saying Harrison Jr. will be disappointing like Watkins but 2014 was also looked at as a WR rich draft with Watkins in a tier of his own.
