Black Lives Matter Messaging at "The Stadium"
Logic replied to SectionC3's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Get your facts straight first. 1.) The Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone was in Seattle, not Portland. 2.) The Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone was not created by anti-fascists, colloquially referred to by the right as "Antifa". 3.) Antifa is not an organization. There is no leader, there are no meetings, there are no creeds. "Antifa" is a blanket term used to refer to people of leftist ideology who are against fascism and far-right hate groups. Applying a catch-all name to anyone who opposes fascism or far-right hate groups -- who, as mentioned above, have been responsible for 329 deaths in the past 25 years -- is nothing more than modern day McCarthyism. A convenient boogeyman used to scare people. Ya know, kind of like "migrant caravan". Oh, and calling the anti-fascists fascist is too stupid to really even spend much breath on, so I won't. Here's an article about what "Antifa" is and isn't. https://www.wbur.org/hereandnow/2020/06/11/what-is-antifa-trump-protests 4.)Since we've already touched on CHAZ, which do you want to talk about next? Charlottesville? The Wisconsin Sikh Temple Shooting? The October 2018 Mail-bomb attempts? The Pittsburgh Synagogue shooting? If you're truly concerned about terrorism on American soil, I suggest you write your local congressperson about the rise of extreme right-wing domestic terrorism in the United States over the past decade. https://www.wired.com/story/boogaloo-movement-protests/ -
Black Lives Matter Messaging at "The Stadium"
Logic replied to SectionC3's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Since my good friends @dwight in philly and @Buffalo716 decided to somehow rope Antifa into this thread, I thought I'd share this article with them: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jul/27/us-rightwing-extremists-attacks-deaths-database-leftwing-antifa Deaths cased by anti-fascist violence since 1994: 0 Deaths cased by far-right violence since 1994: 329 But please...do go on about how dangerous anti-fascists are. Nothing like parroting the breathless, fact-free pearl clutching of such visionaries as Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity! If you find the leader of Antifa or can locate any of their weekly meetings or official creeds, please let me know. As to the subject that this thread is about: Good for the Bills organization. I can't imagine actually being upset that a sports team feels that the lives of the players that make up the majority of its roster actually MATTER. The Gall! -
Has MLB shown a "non-bubble" plan is doomed for failure?
Logic replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In answer to the original question posed in this thread: Yes, I do believe that the MLB situation is just the latest evidence that a full length NFL season is nothing more than a pipe dream. Four games max, and then the league is forced to suspend, indefinitely postpone, or cancel the season. -
I don't disagree with the premise that less professional football players "love the game" than ever before, and that many just play it because it's financially lucrative to do so. I DO disagree with the notion that the primary reason so many players are opting out is that they don't "love the game". I think that's hogwash. I think the reason so many players are opting out is that there's a deadly and highly contagious pandemic marching unchecked through our country right now. As time goes on, it is becoming increasingly clear that even among those with "mild" cases of COVID-19, the potential for long-lasting negative health repercussions is high. Lung damage, neurological damage, blood clots, strokes -- players are not only potentially putting their lives and the lives of their loved ones on the line, they're also potentially putting their long term careers and quality of life on the line. THAT is the reason I believe most players are opting out.

The more I think about it, the more I see it as a good trade for both teams. For the Jets, they get two 1sts and a replacement safety in exchange for a player that clearly wasn’t going to re-sign with them. For the Seahawks, they give up essentially two late 1sts — one of which is in what will surely be a bizarre draft next year — for an elite defensive player whose leadership and work ethic will be huge for their young, rebuilt defense. The Jets needed to get rid of a guy that had become a headache for them (by their own doing), the Hawks needed to strike now in their championship window and bolster a defensive unit that sees the Rams, Cards, and 49ers twice each season. Win-win.

After years of watching the Bills be the dysfunctional shitshow of the week, it sure is refreshing watching that title go to someone else. Between the Woody Johnson situation, Gase being a terrible leader, their best player wanting out and trashing the organization, the way they’re sabotaging Darnold with poor personnel and coaching turnover, and now Joe Douglas being accused of dishonest negotiating tactics, it is clear as can be that the Jets are a mess. I feel like us Bills fans can see it for what it is because we’ve developed a keen eye for organizational dysfunction. The Jets fans, meanwhile, have all turned on Adams, are dismissing anything he says out of hand, and are hoping for a big turnaround under Gase and their shiny, new offensive line. I don’t see it. Bad/disconnected ownership, bad head coach, alienating good players, hanging their young QB out to dry, signing 2nd and 3rd tier offensive “help”....it all adds up to a recipe for mediocrity at best, disaster at worst. Its glorious to watch.

Did our QB's report today?

....Your article and opinion have nothing to do with what I posted. Thanks for chiming in, though.

I’m just trying to figure out how people can still be this ignorant and willing to distrust science, common sense, and an absolutely enormous amount of empirical evidence. Also, Sweden sustained far greater damage to its economy and suffered far more deaths per capita than all the nations surrounding them who DID shut down. Not that I think facts will matter one little bit to you. https://globalnews.ca/video/7163433/coronavirus-sweden-seen-as-cautionary-tale-on-early-reopening

Call your shot: Will the season start on time?
Logic replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As I'm sure others have already said in this thread, I vote for option three: They'll start on time, but won't get to finish the season. I predict a maximum of four weeks before everything gets shut down due to too many infections. +10 points for quoting Jack Straw! Bob and Jerry BOTH sang that song... And if we're talking about who WROTE it, the answer is Robert Hunter and Bob Weir. -

Good. This combined with the "daily testing" concession the league made today may allow a season to at least start, assuming infections aren't out of control at training camps.
-
Ironically, many of those that are going to be the most vocally angry about the NFL having to cancel its seasons are the very people who helped put is into this situation to begin with by refusing to listen to common sense and science. You want football? Wear a mask. It's that simple. It's BEEN that simple from the start, but too many people just can't get it through their thick skulls.
-
Exactly what you said. Maybe...MAYBE...if every player wore full sleeves, gloves, and helmets that included full visors, i.e. no skin was exposed and the face was not exposed, then MAYBE they could keep infection numbers down. But the way football is currently played? It is the absolute perfect breeding ground for COVID-19. Combine all of the things they tell you NOT to do -- being within six feet of one another, breathing on each other, coming into physical contact with each other -- and you have football. I don't see how it's possible. I'll continue to be the party pooper in the group and say that the NFL will be able to stage four games AT MOST before having to shut down the season.

Ngakoue Watch is officially on!

There is about a 1% chance the Bills make a move for Ngakoue. -

I sure wish this would be your last ever post on this forum. From day one, your only purpose here has been to brag about Pat Mahomes while casting doubt on Josh Allen. To brag that your team “won the trade”. You pretend that you’re rooting for the Bills and Allen, but you’re not. If you ARE, it is only out of some misplaced pity and feeling of superiority on your part. Along the way, you’ve predicted multiple losing seasons for the Bills, posted baiting troll topics, predicted the Chiefs would go 16-0, and all while pretending to be a friendly guy who “just wants to talk ball”. Enough already. You got your Lombardi trophy, you got your mega QB under contract for the next thousand years, and the jury’s still out on Allen. Take your condescension, your thinly veiled trolling attempts, and your pity, and leave the forum. Go talk to your fellow Chiefs fans and quit being a nuisance. Get gone.

Just watched episode two of "I'll Be Gone in the Dark" Pretty upsetting stuff. Harder to watch than the first one. I did some reading about the guy, and...wow. What a sicko. Also, I was taken aback when they were talking about the prevalence of serial rapists in the 70s. They said that the EAR-ONS wasn't even the most active rapist at the time! I've always found it fascinating and curious that the 70s saw such a huge rise in serial rape and serial murder. What was it about that time period that gave rise to this? I'm enjoying the series about as much as one can enjoy a true crime show with this type of subject matter. Might give McNamara's book a read.
