Listen. If you're not taking simple, vague social media posts from marginally recognizable people wildly out of context and jumping immediately to far-flung conclusions, are you even really internetting?

I think the choice to re-sign or not re-sign Tremaine Edmunds is THE central decision of the offseason. It will be the key domino that sets all the other dominos in motion. If he's re-signed, the Bills will have a pretty frugal offseason elsewhere. If he's not, they'll have a little more room to maneuver and bring in veteran help elsewhere. Then, of course, there's the massive hole that it would leave in the defense. Whatever you may think about Tremaine, choosing not to re-sign him means losing the defense's quarterback and an emerging leader, and leaving a big roster void at a key position in the McDermott/Frazier defense. Big, big decision for Brandon Beane.

I wonder which practice squad WR gets elevated for this game. It's hard to believe they're going to elevate both, and it's equally hard to believe that they're suddenly going to take McKenzie or Davis out of the gameplan. So is it a Beasley game or a Smoke game? Or do they throw a curveball, bench the rookie Shakir, and elevate both?

I know that Josh isn't superstitious, but he is a LITTLE stitious. I'm guessing the fact that they have mostly been winning in the all-blues this year is the reason they keep wearing them. It was written in an article recently that when the Bills are on a win streak, Josh won't let the team change the restaurant they eat Friday night player dinners at. Sounds more than a little stitious to me. In any case...whatever makes them feel good and confident, I'm all for. Blues it is.

Hyde has been working to the side with Bills trainers for weeks now, along with other "could potentially return in the playoffs" guy Jamison Crowder. Joe Buscaglia of the Athletic (aka, the media) published an article mentioning this possibility weeks ago. That's what's on the first page of the thread you're replying in. Hyde stated he would return in 2023. It's 2023. His most recent comments, two weeks ago, were something like "we'll just get to the end of these two weeks, and then see if we can make something happen". Most importantly, at no point has Hyde definitively said "I'm not coming back this season". When talking about his return, he has consistently left the door open. I'm not saying it will definitely happen, but it's more possible than some here seem to think.

Joe Croom is a photographer that seems to have some kind of access to the team. He has posted photos from training camps and the like for years. He even posted pictures from the impromptu workouts held during the COVID lockdown year. He seems to know some people on the team and be granted access to get photos that others can't/don't get. And yes, he seems to be hinting at a Hyde return.

I am among those who has not always been happy with Dorsey's playcalling this year. HOWEVER, it is important to point out that the Bills offense finished the season ranked: 2nd in DVOA 2nd in PPG 2nd in YPG 7th in Rushing YPG 7th in Passing YPG In case it's not obvious, that's really good offensive production, especially for a first year offensive coordinator and a team that lacks a quality slot receiver and boasts a mediocre (and oft injured) offensive line. The Dorsey hate/doubt is a bit much among Bills fans.

I will go to my grave believing that the Bills and Bengals coaches and players are the only reason that game didn't continue. When has an NFL game ever been stopped midway through and not resumed? That tells you all you need to know. Games are the NFL's main product. It's how they make their money which, let's face it, is the ONLY thing they care about. When you take a game -- especially a much hyped, high ratings, nationally televised Monday night game like this -- away from them, you're taking money out of their pockets. If there's one thing the owners don't like, it's having money taken out of their pockets. They 1000% wanted to resume that game, and were it not for Sean McDermott and Zac Taylor and the players, they would have. Never forget that. And never forget that the NFL is a greedy, morally bankrupt enterprise that cares nothing about its players and cares only about money. And yes, as a fan and person who continues to support this league, I am complicit. I wish I could kick my lifelong NFL addiction, but here we are.

How is Skip Bayless employed as a sport analyst??
Logic replied to BuffaloBills1998's topic in The Stadium Wall
There are two types of people that report on or talk about sports. 1.) People who actually try to analyze the game, break news, discuss strategy and matchups, impart information, and generally be an actual journalist/analyst/reporter. 2.) People who play characters. These are carnival barkers, clowns, pro wrestling personas. Stephan A Smith, Skip Bayless, Nick Wright, even Kyle Brandt (albeit he's more intelligible and likable and benign than the others). There are dozens and dozens of the former, and most blend together. They are a dime a dozen. There are only a few really notable, well-known examples of the latter. They stand out. They get paid the big bucks. I hate that this is so. I absolutely love analysis and absolutely loathe shouting talking head TV. Alas, the carnival barkers are what get the ratings. Sort of symptomatic of our culture at large and the type of entertainment we tend to gravitate toward as a society. -
Isn't it on at....7:30?

Respectfully, if he's medically cleared and Miami wants to start him, I don't see social pressure changing that. Now whether or not there are any doctors out there who actually WOULD clear him is an entirely different question. But if there are, and if he has legitimately progressed through the protocol and is cleared in time for the game...I just don't see Miami essentially forfeiting the season (which is basically what they'd be doing by starting Thompson or Bridgewater) due to social or media pressure. Speaking of pressure, there is enormous pressure to win in the NFL.

Georgia (-13) vs TCU. Who ya got? Who ya keeping an eye on for draft season? How long after this game before Stetson Bennett opens his first car dealership? Do the Horned Frogs have a snowball's chance in hell? Two hours and counting.

To those saying that the league will somehow step in and not let Tua play... I'm not really sure what mechanism they would have to be able to do that. If doctors clear Tua from concussion protocol, I don't see how there's anything the league can do about it. They as a league can not WANT him to play, sure, but I don't see them having much choice.

This has to be the very top of the top end possible outcomes of this situation for Hamlin. Like...this has to be within the 5% "absolute best case scenario in our wildest dreams" range, right? One week to the day since we weren't sure if he'd make it through the night. He is WALKING, he is talking, he is neurologically "clear as a bell", and he is headed home. Absolutely incredible.
-
For all of this talk of moving various corners to safety now that Hamlin is on IR... Even IF the coaching staff was going to do that, does anyone actually think that such a transition would go quickly/smoothly enough for the coaching staff to actually insert said converted corner into the starting lineup in the playoffs?! I think there's about a 0% chance of that happening. If Dean Marlowe, a previously productive, smart, veteran safety who already knows the position and the system, can't crack the starting lineup at safety, does anyone really think a player who's been doing it for a couple weeks could/would? If we want to have this discussion in the offseason, I'm all for it. But as for the rest of this season/playoffs, I'd be shocked to see anyone other than Cam Lewis, Jaquan Johnson, or Dean Marlowe manning Hamlin's vacated safety spot. And as much as Bills fans may dislike it, Lewis is very likely to get first crack at it.
-
Here's an unpopular take: I thought that Cam Lewis -- who will likely be taking over at free safety from here on out -- actually played well in the Minnesota game, EXCEPT for on the famous non-swat-down of the Jefferson catch. Obviously, that's the play that gets remembered, and rightly so. But OTHER than that play, I thought he acquitted himself pretty well. Even on that play, yes, he obviously should have swatted it down instead of going for the pick, but he was in position and was a freak Justin Jefferson play away from having the game-sealing interception. Anyway, I think we're about to see a bunch more of him, so we'll see if I'm right or I'm a crazy person. If he DOESN'T perform well, I'd have to think the leash won't be very long, since playoff time is coming and Dean Marlowe is a smart vet that knows the system.

Updated scenario for scheduling to be voted on Friday
Logic replied to The 9 Isles's topic in The Stadium Wall
In addition to what Buffalo_Stampede said....I just can't imagine any Bills players WANTING to sit for this Patriots game. I would bet anything that they want to go out there and run through a brick wall in honor of Damar. Now if the Bills have a big lead in the second half? Then sure, rest starters. But until victory is certain, I expect the team to go all out. -
Clowney's career has been so strange. Came into the league being touted as a generational prospect. The excitement over him was largely due to one or two viral highlights from college that stick in everyone's mind. In nine seasons in the NFL, he has had three 9+ sack seasons, one 6 sack season, and five seasons of 4.5 or less sacks, including three years with 2 or less sacks. He has never once had double digit sacks in a season. His career average is 4.7 sacks per season. Decent player, but definitely still living off his college reputation.

Mac Jones is repeatedly dirty and needs to be reined in
Logic replied to Beck Water's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah, I actually DO kind of wonder if Crowder was thinking of and meant to say Josh ROSEN, not Josh ALLEN. Because the term affluenza -- to the degree that it has any meaning at all -- certainly WOULD apply to Rosen.
