If I were Edmunds, and if I were his coaches, I'd make a phone call to Luke Keuchly (spelling??) and arrange for Edmunds to watch film with him for hour after hour this offseason. Edmunds has all the physical gifts, but he needs to react to what's in front of him more quickly. Having the guy who was a perennial All Pro in that position for McD's defense tutoring him would help immensely.

In general I think we need to quit trying to decide a player's value based on one season. -
Johnson and Johnson vaccine shows real promise
oldmanfan replied to oldmanfan's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Why are you putting politics into this? -
Data is out apparently on the Johnson and Johnson vaccine. It shows 72% effectiveness against developing either moderate or severe disease after Covid infection, and 85% against sever disease. It may not be as effective against the South African variant, but deaths were essentially eliminated with this vaccine. Side effects are very, very minimal. . It's not an mRNA virus like the two currently available; it is an adenovirus (cold virus) engineered to produce the Covid spike protein. And major advantages include that it is a single dose vaccine, and that it can be stored t room temperature. I hope the administration gets this vaccine out to the states as quickly as possible. While 72% effectiveness may seem low compared to the 95% of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, it is still a comparatively very good response as opposed to, say, annual flu vaccines that vary in effectiveness based on the strain. With these 3 approaches we should be able to get enough folks inoculated to get things back to normal this year.

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19

With respect, you are being ridiculous. This is the 9th day of the new administration. -
Is anybody talking about the 2021 schedule?
oldmanfan replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I never get worried about schedule. Every year there are teams you think will be good that aren't and vice versa. -

It is unrealistic to think a new administration on day 9 can change things dramatically in that time frame. But you know that, don't you? -

Was that our easiest playoff loss to take?

Reminded me of the SB against the Skins. The Skins were dominant that year and it would have taken a heroic effort to win. I’m sad we lost Sunday, but I tip my hat to the Chiefs. They are really really good. -

I would take the approach of adding more talent up front. I think Feliciano is better at C than Morse, so put him there, get Ford back at one G and upgrade the other spot - Boettger is average at best. Get a House Ballard type at RT to replace Williams. And make sure the O line coach drills on run blocking. Open up more holes I think Moss would be fine, Williams as well, and Motor will have to earn a spot -
How does Josh work on his nerves...?
oldmanfan replied to Adamb412's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He could have gone to under routes I think a bit more. and I am confused we did not use McKenzie more, given the injuries to 3 of the other receivers. I said last night in another thread, it is expected that people look for things to blame when a team loses. But sometimes the simple answer is that the other team was just better. The Chiefs were just better last night. Their offense was better than our D, their D was better than our O, and their coaches were better that our coaches. They've been there a lot the last 3 years, and with guys like Mahomes and Kelcy that are HOF shoo ins. I expect the Bills coaches and players will absorb a ton from this experience to use next year, just as they used last's years loss in round 1. -

oldmanfan replied to Adamb412's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Josh will continue to develop and get accustomed to the championship game situation. Have you ever played competitive sports? It takes some time to process how to adapt to pressure. He made great strides this year. He'll make more as his career continues. I mentioned Brady as a sarcastic comment because clearly he does not succumb to the pressure of the moment. Yet if you watched their game yesterday he stunk in the second half. The one potentially notable exception to this is Mahomes, and even he had to close one before he won them all last year. Many greats, Manning, Favre, Brees, all went through this. -

If the Chiefs play in two weeks they way they played last night, they'll kill Tampa Bay. Will we see people questioning Brady then? -

Most all the other elite QBs in the league have been at it for years now, except Mahomes. Go back and see if they played in a championship game in year 3, then tell me how they looked. Josh didn't play that well last night. Their defense played really well, and that's that. He'll learn and continue to develop from this. -

Experience. I used to play competitive golf. The more you are in the moment the more you learn how to handle it. -

There's not a team in the NFL that has that answer. The Chiefs are one of the best offenses I've seen in almost 60 years of watching football. -

Helluva season. We now have a franchise Qb for years to come, and the future is bright.
