  1. I think the hopes for the 1 seed disappeared with this 2 game losing streak. With all the injuries and struggles I’ll be happy if the Bills just win their division at this point.
  2. I guess people don’t remember how Allen was playing in 2021 before the 2nd half of that Tampa bay game. It wasn’t until the 2nd half of that game where he put everything together and went on a tear to finish the season. He started out the 2021 season struggling. I think he’s actually played better during the early portion of this season vs last season.
  3. When other teams go on 3, 4, 5 game losing streaks you hear about the GM meeting with the team and ripping them a new @$$****. Telling them how this is totally unacceptable. You hear about players-only meetings to figure out wtf is going wrong. With the Sabres? Nothing. I feel like this franchise has just accepted losing. Adams has no one to blame but himself. We had these same issues last season too. And What did he do? Bring back the same damn team almost unchanged. Sick of this f’n loser organization.
  4. 6th loss in a row in regulation. Not a single point in 6 straight games. totally unacceptable. I am very quickly losing interest in the Sabres again. I have no patience left for the losing.
  5. I feel your frustration man. I feel the same way. They need to take a step forward this year. I have no patience left for losing Sabres hockey. They finish bottom 8 again this year and they will piss away any of the goodwill they’ve earned back from fans. I do think they’ve been playing better hockey but I’m kind of over moral victories… When I say I don’t think playoffs are the goal I’m just being realistic. They did very little this offseason. 2 free agents, that’s it. A 4/5 defenseman and a backup goalie who they hoped could start. It just seems like it is still another development year. I’m not happy about that, but it is what it is. At the same time, I get it. If they’re ever going to turn into contenders it’ll be because the kids developed. So I get wanting to give guys like Quinn and Peterka spots in the lineup to start their NHL development. To be fair - Adams is entering his 3rd season but his first season was with the old core (Eichel, Reinhart, Ullmark, Risto, etc). So this is only the start of year 2 of the (latest) rebuild (4.0). I’m trying to keep that in mind. And at least they have tons of cap space. When Murray and Botterill were losing, they had cap ceiling rosters. Adams is at the cap floor. Not saying that’s necessarily a good thing either… I don’t think Adams has been aggressive enough. He seems very intent on a draft + develop model and saving spots for kids that may be years away, which kind of frustrates me. I still think stability was the right choice. I think Adams and Granato should get the chance to build their team. I believe the extensions were pretty modest. 3 years iirc. Adams was due for a new deal so you had to either sign him or move on. And Granato had a year left but Adams wanted granato’s contract to match his in length and Pegula obliged. I think they’re in this together now, for better or worse. At least for the next 2-3 years. Im ok with that. I think the Sabres need stability. You can’t keep changing coaches and GMs every couple years. I don’t expect playoffs this year but I want to see them at least stay in the wildcard race. I want to see them finish outside the bottom 10. I don’t see how you can sell another bottom 10 finish as progress. Another area I really want to see a step forward in is an end to these long losing streaks. To take the next step forward that has to stop. They can’t keep going stretches with 3,4,5 losses like this. They we’re actually doing ok at that in October. They didn’t lose more than 2 in a row. But now they’ve gone 5 games without even picking up a single loser point. You can’t do that. Good teams don’t do that.
  6. They have to get back in the win column against Vancouver tomorrow. Gotta stop this losing streak at 5 games. 5 in a row is bad enough! Especially considering they have all been regulation losses. They haven’t even picked up any loser points, which is unusual during losing streaks. Most teams at least have some OT losses. I wouldn’t say it was terrible. The Sabres played really well all game. I thought they even looked like the better team for a good portion of the game, and Boston is currently the best team in the entire NHL (by record). But a loss is a loss. They needed to at least get the game to OT when it was tied with 7 minutes remaining in the 3rd period.
  7. this only applies to published articles and interviews that go through the editor’s desk. https://www.ap.org/about/news-values-and-principles/telling-the-story/anonymous-sources edit - btw, I do agree that the AP is a trustworthy news source.
  8. Players wanting to be better compensated is an issue every team has. Name one team that hasn’t had that issue. Is Andy Reid not a good coach because Tyreek Hill and Kelce wanted to get paid? Is Sean Payton not a good coach because drew Brees and Kamara wanted a raise? Is bill Belichick not a good coach because lots of players wanted raises over the years? Is Kyle Shanahan not a good coach because Deebo wanted a raise, and even asked for a trade? There we’re no reports that Diggs was unhappy here. Just the opposite. He said he wants to finish his career here, even before he signed his current deal. Him getting that raise was just as much about Beane getting out in front of the WR market as it was about Diggs wanting a raise. Beane said from day 1 of the trade that he knew he’d have to address Diggs contract. Poyer hasn’t said he’s unhappy either. He also said he wants to retire here. He just wants to be paid top of the market safety money. He’s been underpaid up until his last deal. I think his wife (or gf?) is pushing him hard to get as much money as he can too, at least going by what she’s posted on social media.
  9. oh great. Another “game of the year” we lost that we now get to hear about for the next year+.
  10. The mid season slump is officially an annual tradition. Every season they have a stretch of games mid season where the defense can’t stop anything and Allen + the offense struggle. Its going to cost them the #1 seed again, and maybe even the division this time.
  11. Can the defense make a stop? Sure hope so.
  12. Gotta win the coin toss. I don’t trust the D to get a stop.
  13. This is not a super bowl team. Right now they are not even the best team in their own division.
  14. We are about to lose this game if the defense can’t make a stop.
  15. This is a perfect example of how he just makes stuff up in the hopes of looking like an insider. He makes a prediction that he thinks could be likely so he can claim “insider” knowledge if he’s right.
  16. https://decrypt.co/114246/rise-fall-sam-bankman-fried-ftx https://www.reuters.com/markets/currencies/rise-fall-crypto-exchange-ftx-2022-11-10/ I am just catching up on the story this morning. But wow, this Sam bankman-fried story is nuts. He was supposed to be crypto’s golden child. FTX was one of the bigger exchanges. Not sure what to make of the owner of binance either (biggest exchange) in all of this. He already seemed somewhat shady to me and I believe is (still) under investigation for money laundering and the bank secrecy act. He’s continually rebuffed requests for documents from investigators and investors for years now. 🤔 I feel bad for all the people with assets trapped in FTX now as they await bankruptcy proceedings. https://www.forbes.com/sites/mariagraciasantillanalinares/2022/11/12/billions-of-ftx-assets-in-limbo-as-exchange-follows-voyager-into-bankruptcy/?sh=77b4171e3f72 https://blockworks.co/news/ftx-users-band-together-had-entire-net-worth-on-there-oops/ I also feel bad for the 3.5 million people with assets trapped in Voyager, because ftx was supposed to be rescuing them from bankruptcy and paying back all those people. Now that goes up in smoke too. https://www.cnbc.com/2022/08/15/voyager-customers-beg-new-york-judge-for-money-back-after-bankruptcy.html I see that BlockFi has also paused transactions due to FTX (since FTX had also “rescued” them over the summer) https://fortune.com/2022/11/11/ftx-collapse-blockfi-pausing-client-withdrawals/ I think there were 130 different companies under bankman-fried’s umbrella. So what do you all think this means for the crypto world?
  17. reminder that Eichel asked for a trade before the 2020 season (which was before he was injured). So I don’t buy that his issue was with the Pegulas/surgery. I think he was sick of the losing and wanted out. I could have respected that if he just signed a bridge deal. But he only wanted a max term contract. Then what, 2 years into it he asked for a trade? **** him. I agree with pretty much everything else you said though. Eichel is better suited in the role he has now. He’s not asked to lead, just produce. He’s good at that. Tuch has been fighting it all season. So has skinner. Looks like he’s having another down year. What pisses me off the most is his (skinner’s) lack of effort on a lot of nights. Thsnkfully Tage looks like a beast. That deal could end up being a steal, and I was a bit worried about that one when he signed it. So glad he’s picking up right where he left off last season! Cozens looks pretty good. He definitely seems to have taken a step forward. I still want more from him but he’s young, and power forward typed take longer to develop (if you want to call him a power forward…). TBH I still don’t feel great about drafting him over Zegras though. I wanted Zegras so bad. He looks like a legit star already, and his happy-go-lucky personality is so infectious. Sorry. Just venting. I was watching the ducks game a couple nights ago and was constantly drawn to Zegras every time he was on the ice. But I’m still holding out hope that Cozens ends up being as good as Zegras. Zegras-Thompson would sure be a great 1-2 punch at C though. edit - forgot to add re:Eichel - I found it funny how eager he was to do a post game interview last night. Remember last year he wasn’t even going to do a post game interview. Mike Harrington had to harass Vegas staff until Eichel finally came out, and it didn’t go well at all. He was an incredibly sore loser. That interview is still being used in memes. But he plays well + wins and he can’t wait to interview 😂 I get it though. He was booed relentlessly all night.
  18. They aren’t making the playoffs this year, and I don’t think it was even a goal of management TBH. Buffalo entered the season with the youngest roster in the NHL, and the cheapest roster in the NHL. They signed a grand total of 2 low level free agents (a backup goalie and a #4/5 defenseman). I think the goal this season was to get the kids experience. They left roster spots for Quinn and Peterka on purpose. I wanted more urgency this past offseason but I doubt they were attracting any decent free agents anyway. They could have made trades or waiver claims though. Adams and Granato seem intent on building this team up through the draft, which is fine. It’s what should have been done years ago. They also seem intent on keeping the roster low budget for now. I think it might be partly for job security reasons. If you’re losing with a cheap roster it’s easier to explain to Pegula than if you’re losing with an expensive roster (like Botterill and Murray did). I just want to see growth.
  19. Rough loss last night. They really needed to beat Arizona, who seem to be openly tanking. It doesn’t get any easier the next 2 games. They face the current top 2 teams in the league - Las Vegas and Boston. Hopefully this 3 game losing streak doesn’t turn into 5…
  20. We need a thread just for actual legitimate updates on Josh Allen so I can avoid this one 😂
  21. The only reason he is unemployed is because he tore his ACL. He has more than a 1/2 dozen teams that want to sign him, including the Bills. Do you trust Beane and McDermott? Who have they brought in that’s toxic? A lot of the same stuff was said in the media about Diggs. How that working out? Do you trust the word of Von Miller? Josh Allen? Tre White? Stefon Diggs? They’ve all talked about wanting OBJ and Miller+White have raved about the type of person he is. Can you give examples of him being this prima Donna? If you are talking about a couple times where he got mad on the sidelines, Diggs and countless other WR’s have too. Just this season Diggs was pissed on the sidelines that he didn’t get the ball. Doesn’t mean he’s a prima donna. Just means he’s a fierce competitor. can you list even a single NFL player that’s talked badly about OBJ? Why does he seem so universally loved by his peers?
  22. Stop with the doomsday bullcrap. Allen had a UCL injury has rookie season and he was fine afterwards. Hopefully this time is less severe, or at least no worse. But there’s no reason to be talking worst case scenarios already.
  23. Wtf! Injuries on defense this year have been brutal. So many important starters missing time. Poyer, Hyde, Oliver, Phillips, Rousseau, Milano, Tre white still out. Am I missing anyone? Losing Rousseau for multiple games is a big blow. They’ve been significantly below the NFL team average injuries per season so I guess they were due for a regression. Luck runs out eventually. But of course it happens when Buffalo is a legit super bowl favorite for the first time in decades…
  24. I don’t know if this is about tanking. If it was, why not just keep Reich in place? They’ve already been losing. The only thing I can think of is that maybe Jim Irsay trusts Jeff Saturday (he’s been a team consultant for years and was a colts player for over a decade before that. I believe he & Irsay are close) and wants his eyes & ears in the locker room to help figure out wtf is wrong with the team and figure out who needs to stay/go (and that might include the GM). either that or this was a crazy out of the box hire by Ballard to try and save his job. He is a unique dude. My guess is Irsay wanted someone in that locker room that could be his eyes and ears. He seems to have gone back to meddling in decisions again.
