That's what blesto does ... It's basically the lowest level professional scout... You're doing the dirty work... Compiling heights weights, pro Day 40 times... Statistics and a profile So that by the time they are draft eligible... The area scouts can already have thousands of guys crossed off the board that do not fit XYZ Whoever the regional scout was that can find Christian benford at Villanova... Should be a head scout because that takes serious deep dives... When he probably went to 15 FBS schools and only want to Villanova because he really was sure about how good he was But going to Villanova to watch someone play when you could go to Penn State is a tough call to make Close to 300 FBS and FCS schools It's super daunting... But it's not perfect which is why good football players go undrafted every year The single biggest thing to scouting kids... It's getting a feel for their character... These guys are all tremendous athletes at the division one level What separates the average from the Great... Is a mindset, work ethic and the ability to overcome obstacles And you're trying to find out their character from coaches etc as much as their talent

Good question ... And there certainly is a whole process One scout cannot possibly watch everybody... It's not possible... They do rely on a network ... Say the Bills Blesto scout identifies a talent at junior day... The Blesto is looking at non draft players... So at pro days he's looking at the RS SO/ JR class or non draft enrollees ... Rising seniors... All the blesto scouts grade them all and compile a report... That report is gold to the NFL teams star him... A guy to watch... Bills Blesto has a rising SR to watch... Tells the regional or area scout ... He'll go to the spring game and go to a few games... Compile his report Crosscheck his report with some other scouts in the area who have seen the player to see if they see the same stuff ... Scouts compare notes all the time And if he's a guy you really want to Target... Red star him... That means plays above projected draft slot... When all the regional and head scouts get together... You pound the table hard for your red star players Those are guys you go to war for in the meetings... And you make sure the national scout or director of scouting gets on a plane to watch him because you sold him Say you are a Mid-Atlantic scout ... From Rutgers to North Carolina basically.... But you all watch a lot of football... So you know there's this kid at TCU that you think could bolster the line... But you're not sure the southwestern scout has got to TCU yet When you get around the other scouts... You tap the southwestern scout on the shoulder... And say hey! Have you seen this kid play? Or TCU yet ..And if they say no... You say well you probably should check him out get back to me ... Because he looks like a top 60.. Every area scout will hit every single division 1 School in their area at least once... Probably twice during the season... Obviously Texas will get more looks than UTEP The majority of the board is done by the area scouts who then compile all the data for a national scout who will break the board down more by scheme fit The guys who get pounded for the most at the table... Get the GM or director of college scouting to go watch them But area scouts red star players that will get further noticed by the GM and director... They are grinding on the road and finding the gems like benford

He's gonna absolutely be considered one of the best guards in football within a few seasons With a little bit of seasoning... The sky is the limit with his strength

I'm surprised you could spell ducasse

Honestly I respect a lot of people on this board... Bills fans know football more than most fan bases Its like sec level knowledge And that's why I do like posting here... But I generally don't go out of my way to spam this board with scouting reports pre draft I'm more than happy to make a full report for people if they ask... But I'm here for the same we all are... because we all love the Buffalo Bills But yeah I see the quarterbacks come up from a young age... That's why I'm so high on Caleb Williams Because I saw him in high School and Oklahoma live ... I was sold at 18-19

Well I scout high school kids And in the off-season I basically mercenary scouting reports for draft eligible players but I was a regional scout years ago So I have a lot of friends who are regional scouts and they need eyes on the road which I am... And I go to college spring games.. about 3-4 a year.. and a good handful of college games (10+) I am not scouting college kids full-time anymore I do high school kids but do college on the side

They get paid more than centers now.. it's tougher to play guard in the modern NFL than center They physically take on more one-on-one blocks... Center gets more combination blocks and there are very few physically imposing zero techs who play that technique every snap Guards take on dominant three techniques one-on-one

What are your expectations for the draft picks?
Buffalo716 replied to appoo's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well that makes sense then I think he is going to earn a large contract -
I very rarely... Will make a thread dedicated to a guard But after drafting this mountain of a man last season... And him playing every single snap last season Read that again... Every single snap last season... The only Buffalo Bill to do so I had to go back and rewatch... O'Cyrus Now it's typical for any rookie lineman have ups and downs... They ebb and flow But the size and power with the short area burst he displayed was excellent... People talk about some right guards playing in a phone booth... Because the condensed area and need for quickness But he is the phone booth... A true old school Right guard... Who is thick enough to anchor yet has hands that counter hard He looks every bit like a multiple Time pro bowler who will be able to move the LoS in a game of inches The bills nailed their top two picks last season but in a league with a shortage of great lineman This pic hits as an A++

If you put Vanderbilt next to his name Nobody would be that high on the pic... He has some good traits... I have him as a solidly one to two year developmental guy I think he could be the starting center after 2 years of development on a good team he plays with below average technique against top guys... Has par core strength is undersized with short arms... Nothing screams day one NFL starter McGovern is 6'5 .. played college center... Is stronger and athletic with years of NFL strength and conditioning... Signs point to him being very good Vpg has some traits you want to develop... He would get bulldozed in the AFC East if we asked him to be our linchpin this year -
These are Professional football players... Every single one is oozing with talent All it takes is one guy to understand his situation and seize the reins I wasn't panicked last year either because I knew they had a guy to take the spot... Your number one guy gets all the reps It's hard to improve when you don't get the reps... Bernard and Dodson both are really good football players and one of them were going to pop because they were getting professional treatment ... That was going to Edmunds before Shakir and Samuel are probably going to look two times better because they get practice reps... Then you add in Kincaid and knox who is still a physical freak Our line which is going to be very good... With James Cook and Ray Davis Coleman is going to play well when his number is asked and he's not going to be asked to be a superstar out the gate He's going to be asked to score touchdowns inside the 20

As of pure football guy through and through I love Gilliam Like you can't have 51 all pros on your roster... You can't have 51 pro bowlers You need meat and potato guys... Gritty guys who will do anything for the team... Punt unit , kick off unit, kick return unit You're not putting Dawson knox out there lol Yeah he's playing a dying position... But he's a good enough athlete to be an emergency tight end Catches solidly, and runs hard when given the chance Core special team guy... I hope Josh throws to him once a game... To keep people slightly honest He has the athleticism to be a weapon as a fullback... Sam gash light I do love how this board is lukewarm on our top two picks Yet think an undersized, short-armed center who plays with bad technique will win the job When McGovern played center very well at Penn State.. is now one of the bigger more athletic and stronger centers in the NFL... While having starting experience on the line He is not going to get beat out... In fact he's more likely to get a massive contract in 2 years from a team looking for a center for 5 years Center is physically the easiest... And McGovern is very strong and huge for a center... He's going to dominate -
Absolutely And yes I agree Detroit Pizza is severely underrated I mean I would put it above Chicago... My list of cities is not really in order.. just regional pizzas that I've had that's squarely are in their own identity And Detroit like Buffalo is very underrated... They have access to galbani cheese which is the cream of the crop for pizza cheeses Galbani which is the leading cheese maker for pizza in the world.. top class Pizza cheese... Has its only North American headquarters in Buffalo Because they know the demographics.. Pizza makers in South Carolina would love Galbani... But the price they have to pay down there is not economical So it's abundant in Buffalo and Chicago and Detroit What cities do you find good wings in? Genuinely curious, I don't think Buffalo has a monopoly on it... I know they're out there but you have to look

Literally everybody cramping on the pic without giving it a chance to succeed wouldn't know if a football was stuffed with feathers or filled with air I had half a dozen regional scouts tell me we got the steal of the draft when we picked him I had Florida State and Michigan State boosters text me and say we got the steal I'm still on the road scouting the best high school players from now through November and then I go on the road for some college games after And anybody crapping on this 21 year old kid is lost... He might not be the next Superstar But he certainly has the talent
-
McGovern is going to surprise everybody at center Played center very well at Penn State... He is huge so he had the ability to play All over The line there They played him where they needed him He certainly has the tools to be a top 10 NFL center with his size... I expect him to be getting a big contract from another team in 2 years while we groom svpg Center is physically the easiest.. and he was a physical guard... He's going to dominate
-
Dude every single player has the potential to be a bust People are drooling over Marvin Harrison Jr and if his last name wasn't Harrison he wasn't a top 10 pick ... I saw him in high school and college live and he certainly isn't one of the 10 best receivers I've seen coming out of college... Certainly wasn't generational He certainly isn't the bona fide star people make him out to be either lol he can be average in the NFL... Our own Sammy Watkins was better coming out Every player has risk factor.. every single one Keon Coleman has tons of abilities and is a smooth athlete at his size with a great attitude... That alone will help leaps and bounds I had half a dozen regional scouts text me after the pic saying we got the steal of the draft Every player can be a bust , keon Coleman has a lot of talent and will play with a Hall of Fame quarterback

People get so caught up into height weight 40 times vertical jump And it is important... But people don't realize that these are all world class athletes.. every single division one football player down to the kids at the University at Buffalo are dripping with talent It's the things like coaching, and work ethic, and destination and want that determine the next level of your career For so many players the difference between being a star or nothing is draft destination... That's it... So many players including Brady and Patrick mahomes wouldn't be who they were if they didn't link up with the coaches they got Patrick mahomes getting drafted by the Chicago bears 7 years ago is not the same Patrick mahomes as today Every single player taken in the draft has immense talent from the first overall pick to the guys in the sixth round... It's crazy that people are poo-pooing on keon Coleman a guy that was universally considered a top 50 prospect Anybody who's a top 50 prospect in the NFL has a lot of talent and the potential to be really good... It all comes down to how much he wants it and the coaching he gets

What you're not understanding about McGovern and Edwards is that it's possible we just had two good left guards... Beane has been steadily building our line for years Just because McGovern was better than Andrews doesn't mean Andrews is bad lol Go back 4 years and Andrews would be one of the best two guards on the team McGovern also played center in college and has been groomed to play the position... He isn't somebody who has zero clue how to play center It's physically the easiest position and now he is one of the most physical centers in the NFL... He's going to be getting paid by another team in 2 years He's going to be getting a Payday at center for another team because he's going to be top 10 A short-armed bad technique rookie is not going to win the starting center job... He needs to be groomed -
I literally know nobody that drinks PBR LOL It's Buffalo the majority of old heads drink labatts And I think you are selling short the amount of pure greasy Italians that are making pizzas in buffalo

Josh Allen has made multiple receivers have the best years of their careers Including bums like Robert Foster who he literally made look like he could be an NFL receiver Dawson Knox never scored a touchdown in college.. he is now a Red zone threat thanks to Josh Allen Everybody at Michigan State raves about the kid... Said he was the best offensive player they've had there in a while Went to Florida State and everybody at Florida State says he is the guy If he Daniel's throwing him the ball at LSU the dude would have went a lot higher and had a lot better stats lol he also could have went to LSU But went thousands of miles away to a running team because he wanted to get away from bad influences and mature Literally that last sentence will make him great in the NFL because he has the right mindset... And everybody is talented You're literally talking about like he's a JV football player LOL Kansas literally asked him to play football and basketball.. he's probably the only person in the world who has ever gotten that offer from Kansas He is a world-class athlete who is going to be a better pro than college player Florida State had him returning punts because he was the best player on the team

He's pushing five star status right

Having traveled all over this great country for football... I have also eaten food all over this country There are certain regional pizzas... That I would say they have the right to be called a pizza City New York City Buffalo New Haven Chicago Detroit All have identifiable styles that people around the country try to recreate Now I'm not saying there's not good pizza outside of those places.. I'm saying those places have became Pizza meccas due to their distinct styles
