McDermott: Cody Ford will remain at Guard
Buffalo716 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All those guys you listed were guard prospects tho. And had great film there I don't think Ford is in that realm as a guard. His Oklahoma play at guard certainly doesn't say so. Hence why most scouts said Guard should be a fallback if he couldn't hang at tackle. Because he can bully defensive ends, and win as a traditional mauling right tackle He doesn't have that ability against world class defensive tackles. He's been getting pushed back a bit in the pass game His anchor needs to improve -

Playing next to the two best lineman on the team helps -
Andre Roberts almost has as many career receiving yards as Devin Hester...

It's honestly easy for centers and guards to pass block in the NFL compared to run block Most guards only give up couple sacks a year, they're constantly doubling people Wyatt teller was always a road grader

That's a shorter lower bowl that's steep Where Josh was putting it, it was higher up and longer of a throw -

I remember this on draft day Favre says TD first -
Sure the bills came back in that game, But It's a team game. I mean I think everybody wanted him to succeed But it was clear a year in that he just didn't have that dog in him. He was supposed to be this big 6'5 240 lb dual threat quarterback. But he didn't have the dog in him to be that threat And it's perfectly fine, most NFL quarterbacks don't work out He had his moments, but not enough

I don't think statistics are an end all be all. Josh Allen showed more his rookie year with worst statistics than EJ Manuel ever showed EJ Manuel on paper had all the tools, but come game time he didn't have that it factor and the will to win that inside determination is usually what separates a player who makes it from one who doesn't

EJ Manuel had some good moments. Unfortunately for most quarterbacks the game just turned out too big for him and too fast

I'm so excited for the Chiefs & Bills on TNF

Yes, spags is arguably Jim Johnson's most well-known defensive disciple -
How? EJ Manuel held back a Florida State squad, that when he left won a national title Jimbo Fisher said that his freshman quarterback, who waa redshirting was more talented than EJ Manuel Urban Meyer called Dwayne Haskins the best 18-year-old quarterback he's ever seen. Urban Meyer told Joe burrow he would never start at Ohio State because Dwayne Haskins I think there's a talent gap between Dwayne Haskins and EJ Manuel. Even if Haskins hasn't put it together yet

Ron Rivera and Leslie Frazier are both Jim Johnson disciples and run variations of his defense We have Frazier and McDermott together which is terrific -

Ford has been an average guard so far. He hasn't been getting much push in the run game And he's honestly been getting pushed back in the pass game. Defensive ends we're not able to bullrush him at right tackle, but defensive tackles have been able to He needs to work on his anchor a bit for guard play -
No I believe just by what Tre has done, that he was just always going to play this year Every player had to make that decision. Every player is a son, and lots of players are fathers and husbands And 99% chose to play. I thought Tre would be the same And he was posting all that stuff on Twitter with his wife to see how people would react. Which he got a lot of negative reactions, which is what I think he was honestly looking for Because you can see all the people who really only want you to play football, and don't care about the person. If he would have opted out , I would have wished him the best and a safe year But I'm a judging a****** lol Judging somebody usually as a negative connotation. I gave my timeline of what Tre actually did this summer I do not have any negative feelings towards what he did, and I have harbor no ill feelings against Tre White I'm literally just saying what he did. I do not personally care Everybody here does that's why they're posting on a message board
-
Again I don't see how saying somebody likes attention is harsh judgment. I'm not even saying that negatively I love attention, most people love attention Tre antics from LSU to the NFL, generally say he likes to have fun and be the center of attention too. Lots of stars are the same way It's only negative if it hampers your life. If You're Happy and funny and healthy and have great energy, it doesn't negatively impact anything
-
Judging somebody usually has a negative connotation and is not factual I literally just said what he did in his timeline. That's it it's judging him if I said he's a scumbag who's trying to make the bills lose. Which he is not, he's a great guy It's just a fact him and his wife went on Twitter and caused the stir for a few days before their decision. I don't have an opinion on that, but it happened Tre dancing, picking up play cards, antics in training camps , and Twitter rants, all just make me believe that he likes to have fun and have attention on him So I don't see how I'm judging him when I just said what actually happened and he's a carefree silly guy. That's actually kind of who he is according to himself if I said he should never play for the bills again and he's trying to cost us a season yeah that's judging him
-
I mean , I'm not judging him at all The fact is if he didn't want to play he could have just said I'm not playing. It's that simple but him and his wife went on Twitter and said I'm announcing my decision in 48 hours and kept bills Mafia in a frenzy for those 2 days. Tre is a carefree person and he is silly, and this goes right up his alley with something he would do I don't get where you think I'm judging him I'm giving my opinion of what happened. I think he was trolling Bills fans a bit, because he's a silly guy

Haskins is a much better quarterback than EJ Manuel Literally the only thing they have similar are they are six five and black. Nothing about their game is similar
-
Tres wife and family was also teasing for a week on social media beforehand, teasing what their decision would be.. if he wasn't going to play it'd be really easy just to say I'm not playing. But he went on Twitter and basically said I'm making my decision in few days let's see what it is.. and him and his wife tweeted about it for a few days... Tre likes attention He was always going to play imo , he likes attention there's nothing wrong with that. And he's always going to want attention Every single father in the NFL had to make that decision, and 99% of them chose to play I would expect an All-Pro who says he wants to go to the Hall of Fame to play

Or he knows Josh Allen is really passionate and may have become angry thinking about it But quarterbacks always need to learn from tough moments and bad mistakes, and Allen has definitely used that game as momentum and fuel to get better And it's a valid question for a Young quarterback to ask someone who's been there
