  1. That's your opinion and not necessarily correct There's been tons of studies shown that downtown stadiums do nothing to help an economy... There is no economic benefit to putting a new stadium downtown , besides being the trendy thing Gillette stadium is in the suburbs of Boston.. nobody cries that it's not in downtown You're there to watch a football game to have the best possible experience... Orchard Park offers the best experience top to bottom because Buffalo Bills fans tailgate like the sec... No other NFL fan base is like that And it's a huge part of the Buffalo Bills game day experience which will disappear if it goes downtown.. and 90% of Buffalonians aren't going to be bar hopping before the game Bill's tailgating is about tradition family friends food and fun, and you need the space for that... Orchard Park has the space
  2. Western New York.. the counties that encompass it Have more population than Pittsburgh metropolitan 2.7 million to 2.4
  3. The state and county will pay for at least half .. not the city of buffalo NYS Taxpayers funded half of Yankee stadium and the Mets stadium And The Buffalo Bills are the only football team in New York state.. New York state is going to pony a good amount when all is said and done
  4. *****! I'm seeing them in Pittsburgh
  5. At the end of the day it doesn't matter what other owners want Erie county and New York state is going to pay for the most of the bill, so they're going to put it where they want wherever that is Time to build, cost, land, everything just seems quicker and cheaper in orchard Park If it goes downtown.. I'll be the first one posting here how it's a great day to be a Bills fan because the bills are the only thing that matter
  6. He literally was just under center for the first play of the game So he got credited with the start
  7. Just because two cities are rust belt Blue collar cities doesn't mean they're identical Of course buffalo and Pittsburgh are not the same The entire existence of the Buffalo Bills fan base has been built around world class tailgates.. this goes back to 1960.. Pittsburgh is not a sec atmosphere... Buffalo is Pittsburgh didn't use to bring kegs into the stands.. Buffalo did.. The Buffalo Bills and pregame partying have gone on since the existence.. and it has nothing to do with drunken debauchery either... It has to do with family ties, and generations of people sharing their love for the bills And you need the space to share that love.. this is not some 2000 era drought thing that sprouted up... This goes back to our existence But Buffalonians party different than the rest of the NFL world .. Our tailgates and antics go back to our existence.. we will never become bar crawlers before games.. it's about family and food and love and the bills... Tradition If it went downtown and they stopped tailgating.. people would drink themselves into Oblivion before the game for free at their house or crush a 6 pack in the parking lot.. they wouldn't be bar hopping around the city The Bills game day experience is around family, friends, loved ones, food and fun... And tailgating is not expensive compared to bar hopping .. and buffalo tailgates know how to cook You can get a 12 pack for the cost of one drink downtown
  8. The grand thing about Buffalo unlike a lot of American cities, is that the suburbs are extremely accessible If you're coming to Buffalo for a few days to watch a game and you're staying in cheektowaga.. there's literally no reason why you can't go 6 minutes into the city and explore Nobody says you have to stay in the suburbs or orchard Park.. the city's extremely accessible.. you can get from downtown Buffalo to every single suburb within 20 minutes . And yes Buffalo is a beautiful city
  9. I'm not going to cry if it's built down.. I'm just giving my opinion based on facts that I know The Buffalo Bills fan base, is a passionate, football educated, hardcore , Blue collar fan base... This goes back to the rock pile... Where they used to bring full kegs into the stadium It's always been a SEC atmosphere, and a gritty Blue collar fan base To me.. all of that screams the exact opposite, of a billion dollar domed Palace in downtown Buffalo If you built a perfect stadium for the people of Buffalo... Based on their characteristics I would say open air , and room for tailgating is a must... We have people who tailgate for two or three days before games... You can't take that away, because that is Buffalo culture
  10. A shiny new stadium in a part of the town like that makes no sense It literally would stick out like a sore thumb That's almost like right in the first ward.. they're not building a football stadium there
  11. Some of these studies were paid for by people that wanted to prove that they have a good economic impact And they couldn't prove it.. the economic impact NEVER outweighs the cost of the stadium We're here to watch a football game.. that's what it should be about at the end of the day The city doesn't have money... There's been roads that have been needed to be paved for 15 years Unfortunately there's going to be no infrastructure improvement, transportation improvement, or anything like it And downtown Buffalo is absolutely gorgeous. I have no complaints with downtown Buffalo... Places like the lower East side need work.. and a bills stadium downtown is not helping them
  12. Major universities have done studies that show that new downtown stadiums do nothing for an economy There's going to be no economic impact whether in Buffalo or OP The same amount of money produced on Sundays now, is going to be produced when there's a new stadium.. it's not bringing in any new money or new business
  13. Technically you're right But the city wasn't connected in 1804 Buffalo was far from finished in the 1860s when Olmsted started building the park system and connecting Buffalo Elicott did start the grid before Olmsted, but olmstead finished by connecting the city like never before.. the park system is absolutely the most major component of the city
  14. Why would you honestly take a bus when you could take a bike downtown for free. Get a bit of exercise and enjoy the beautiful city
  15. Yeah because you can walk to everything in the city .. that's why it's the best design City Not because of it's driving.. in fact the suburbs being so accessible makes it easier to keep in OP
  16. Street design is something different. Downtown Buffalo has more one-way streets than most cities in America because that grid design Obviously the streets have been adapted for cars but the layout is the same
  17. I think that is a wives tale Ancient native burial grounds in Western New York have actually been proven to be around Forest lawn cemetery.. we took ancient native burial grounds around Buffalo Creek reservation and turned it into Forest lawn
  18. Thad lewis started more than 1 game
  19. Most times there's 15 to 30,000 people downtown maximum.. not 80 to 100,000 people Downtown Buffalo is known for radical Street design.. designed around the Olmsted Park system.. made for walking and riding bikes, not cars... It's full of one way street and not a lot of outlets It's really not made for heavy congestion It was designed around the park system back in the day.. it's more of a European Street grid.. technically designed for bicycles and walking
  20. The bills have more operating income than Cincinnati, Tennessee, Cleveland , and Arizona , and giants and bears and jets And these are estimates. You're worth what somebody's willing to pay... The bills were valued at a lot less than what Terry pagula paid for us
  21. City is not known to handle heavy congestion the best I'm sure they could Technically make it work, but there's a massive difference between 19,000 people downtown for Bills game and 80,000.. and that's a lot of congestion
  22. Definitely PI but it's bang bang and it's coachable
  23. That's your opinion. It's a football stadium for football games and the suburbs (OP) has the land , space , it's not hard to get too Putting it downtown is the hip thing .. it's trendy , but there's no economic benefit.. studies have shown that.. it would basically kill the best tailgating tradition in the NFL Buffalo has always been known for a more college like atmosphere.... Like an SEC atmosphere... The fans are knowledgeable, supportive, and hardcore.. The parties at the rock pile were legendary.. full on keg's in the stands ... So the shenanigans are way pre Ralph Wilson stadium... And the best tailgates in the world will be lost if we go downtown... There's a lot of people who want to preserve that And there's a difference between full-on drunken debauchery... And a legitimate top notch Buffalo tailgate
  24. I mean I'm not trying to throw crap against the wall and see what sticks.. I said it's my opinion Going to Bills games my entire life I have ran into plenty of people who never left the tail gates.. bars and lots I used to take the bus to the game years ago, and there were a few people who never got off that bus every week.. they were so drunk they never even went to the game With all the partying going on and all the private and public lots yeah I would assume there's thousands of people who do not go to the game... 25k might be much I was just about to say maybe 25,000 is a large number , but it's definitely a lot of people
