  1. IMHO, Alex Smith would be a slight upgrade. He is without a doubt a game manager and not a franchise QB. You pretty much know what you get with him. I myself would not advocate picking up Smith. The slight upgrade simply isn't worth it. I'd rather go with a stop gap QB like Hoyer or Moore until we can find a franchise QB.
  2. The odds of Jones becoming a franchise QB is slim to none. The desperation for us fans to land the elusive QB sometimes mucks our reality.
  3. He might be an idiot but he was correct on his Trent Richardson evaluation.
  4. I think Bills QB discussions are very likely to bring out many different opinions and emotions. Some very rational and some not so much.
  5. I do not believe the Bills are seriously interested either. It really makes little sense to me. Is Hoyer available? I'd be more interested in him as a stop gap.
  6. Not sure garapolo quailifies as a "career backup." Just curious what do you think he's worth? I saw Bill Polllian on ESPN saying he is worth a 1 and a 2 or 1 and a 3. I almost fell out of my chair in disbelief but after listening to his rational he made sense. I myself would give up our first round pick for him in a heart beat.
  7. I'd much rather give up a 1st and 3rd for garapolo then draft any QB in the first round this year. Next years QB crop is debatable if it going to be better than Garapolo. Heck, maybe the Bills should try to get him.
  8. I agree Brissett is not the next Pats QB. However, I firmly believe Garapolo trade nets a first rounder and more.
  9. Good work Gunner. I am hoping we don't take a QB at 10. I am not high on any of these propects.
  10. A new coaching staff, new offensive system, healthy players, added players, and a more experienced TT leads us to our first playoff game in almost two decades. That's my bold call...
  11. GunnerBill, I always respect your post and your knowledge especially when it comes to the QB position. IMHO, TT doesn't look like a franchise QB. In a previous post by Alpha, he made some very valid points that I strongly agreed with. In short, I do believe the Bills can win and go to the playoffs with TT under center. At this point, I am a starving fan wanting to see a Bills playoff game.. How sad it that... There are plenty of other reasons we didn't win more games besides TT. I am very conflicted with the whole situation. At times, I want to cut him and move on and at other times I want him to stay. Both options are not optimal.
  12. The whole TT situation is a perfect example of why our organization is dysfunctional and second rate. OBD is now in a situation they can't win. As noted, 30-40mil for gap QB or let him go for who knows what. Either way we lose as fans.
  13. Alpha, what an impressive, detailed, and well thought out post. I couldn't agree more.
  14. Realistically, his big side will likely never come to fruition. I don't think you can bank on Jones becoming the elusive franchise QB.
  15. I hear what you are saying. Regardless of the source, I AGREED with most of his points. I am on record as saying D. Watson will not be a franchise QB. IMHO, his shortcoming were accurately depicted in the article. Gunner Bill, I have always respected you opinion when it comes to QB draft class. I am looking forward to more of your insight.
  16. I don't understand why you are having a difficult time understanding WEO's point? He is SPOT ON. Its refreshing to hear the truth even if its not what we want to hear. IMHO, just illustrates how dysfunctional the organization is from top to bottom. No cohesiveness.
  17. Here is what walter football website says 1/9/17: I surveyed teams around the league to see where their initial draft grades were for Watson. Two playoff teams told me they had third-round grades on Watson. One said it was on the low end as a third- to fourth-rounder. Another playoff team told Walt that they had a third-round grade on Watson. Two other teams said they had second-round grades on Watson. Another team thought that Watson still could be a late first-round quarterback, similar to Teddy Bridgewater, because of the dire need at the position across the NFL. In this draft analyst's opinion, I would grade Watson as a third-round pick for the 2017 NFL Draft. Watson has been off with his accuracy this year, displaying poor ball placement, especially when going downfield. He has missed a lot of potential touchdowns as a result. Watson's performance against Louisville confirmed the accuracy and ball-placement problems we've seen all season. He hasn't dominated, and his play is not that of a top quarterback prospect. All of this illustrates that Watson still has room for improvement with his field vision, ball placement, and accuracy. He did finish the regular season playing better, but that doesn't make up for the struggles in the first two-thirds of the season. Also, Watson is undersized compared to your average NFL starting quarterback. On top of that, he plays in a college spread offense that doesn't correlate well to the NFL. Thus, he's going to need to learn working under center, operating the huddle, footwork, and not being a running quarterback. There is no doubt that Watson has great intangibles as a hard worker with good character off the field and leadership in the locker room. This it not a ringing endorsement to pick him at 10.
  18. Good post. I really don't see a franchise QB in this draft. . I don't think Watson, Trubisky, Kiser, or Mahomes are worthy of the 10th pick.
  19. I'm no expert but a 2 and a 5 for Jimmy G seems like a great deal for us. What are your thoughts?
  20. As a fan, I don't like the idea of tanking either. Almost seems unethical. However, it does have merit. The colts did it to pick Luck and NBA teams do it often. The idea of tanking a year to land a franchise QB for the next 10-15 years seems to be a great trade off. However, no sure thing a college QB will turn into a franchise QB.
  21. He had a monster game. I am happy for the guy. Hate that he plays for the Patriots though...
  22. How has the product on the field been for the last 17 years? No that's not me. I know my point of view is in the minority. However, I really don't thnk its irrational. Johnny football can be a very sericeable backup and maybe more. I.don't see anything wrong with liking a little media attention. I am concerned about the product on the field. Your assumptions are incorrect.
  23. You make my point exactly. I can't see us being good anytime in the foreseeable future. So I'll take any national attention I can get. Kind of like settling for the fat girl....
